Kang Ha Neul spilled his thoughts on filming a rape scene.

With the film The Age of Innocence set to premiere soon, Kang Ha Neul attended an interview on February 26 at a café in Samcheong-dong.

On the commnet, “You’ve filmed your first bed scene and it was rather violent. Preparing for the scene must not have been easy,” Kang Ha Neul revealed, “Honestly, I struggled after it was over, as a man and as a human.”

Unable to continue easily as if he had a flash back to the moment, Kang Ha Neul said, “I personally felt bad for the actress who acted with me. She told me it’s okay and that it’s just a movie and acting but I struggled emotionally. I bought food for her after filming and we became close but I felt bad back then, as a human being.”

He continued, “The group that acted as a gang with me also agreed that they felt bad for her. We talked about how we should take care of her better as an actress. I think I felt morally uncomfortable.”

Kang Ha Neul acted as the king’s son-in-law in The Age of Innocence and not only filmed his first bed scene but went through an image transformation as a despicable character. The film premieres on March 5.

Acting out a scene like this must not be easy. It's a good thing that he struggled with it and I applaud how the people involved behaved and approached it with caution and respect.

it's nice he consulted the actress and considered her feelings first.

I mean the scariest thing for me is how these scenes can so easily go bad, I'm really glad that they were all respectful and talked about boundaries. I don't want another story like what happened in Last Tango in Paris.

I don't think I can ever watch that movie because of what she said during her interview.

It's really just terrible and to think you're actually watching the actress being raped onscreen. Yeah, I can't watch it.

I just looked it up and wow for them to just force her to do that scene with no prior notice and no script was really manipulative and wrong

There was a scene in the film where the female lead got sodomized and it wasn't even scripted; no one told the actress anything beforehand.

Later on, she would go on to say that she felt like she was raped and the film ruined her life.

Here's an excerpt from the daily mail about the scene, it contains quotes by Schneider:

They engage in some steamy clinches, the most famous involving Schneider face down on the apartment floor while Brando applies butter to her nether regions and performs a sex act on her.
"That scene wasn't in the original script. The truth is it was Marlon who came up with the idea," she says.
"They only told me about it before we had to film the scene and I was so angry.
"I should have called my agent or had my lawyer come to the set because you can't force someone to do something that isn't in the script, but at the time, I didn't know that.
"Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears.
"I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn't console me or apologise. Thankfully, there was just one take."

4 for him for acknowledging that he felt uncomfortable doing that scene.

i always thought scenes like this are simulated? how do they film this exactly?

they usually are simulated, but you still have to act together in very intimate/close settings.

It's good he talked to the actress and all of them felt uncomfortable. It's good they made the effort to be friends

I just know there are actors that would enjoy it and it disturbs me.

took a minute to understand what film he was talking about... for me, it's "empire of lust" and not "age of innocence".

good that he and the actress talked about this...

An image change for Kang Ha Neul? Interesting.
I always cringe at those types of scenes because no amount of talking is going to turn it into an enjoyable experience....one take please!

I've always wondered how actors handle doing scenes with extreme violence/rape. I can't imagine it would be easy...and if it is, then that's troubling.

It sounds like they handled it as well as they could.

...no comments from the people usually eager to cry "misogyny" ? I thought for sure the line with the guys talking about how they should take better care of her as an actress would have them going. I mean, they sure jumped Yoseob's case when he got onto the fans for being so cruel to that one female singer...

in any case, I'm glad it made him uncomfortable. A scene like that should NEVER be *easy* for ANYONE to act out :S (well, unless it's a victim, and they choose to do so for some form of closure...whatever helps a victim heal, I'm most likely on board with.)

He seems to be such a nice person.
I can't anymore

Knowing how such subjects can be tricky regarding the culture and all, I think he was really clever to keep communicating with the actress. I'm so biased.
