Guest: Kang Yong Suk, a lawyer and MC on several Korean TV shows Topics: late issues around the world, study abroad, how study abroad is perceived in Korea and other countries around the world, immigration
"If I had a daughter I wouldn't let her study abroad." But you'd let your son?? Okay. It's always fun to see prevalent sexism. Takuya is jumping up in ranks on members who annoy me.
I'm happy at the very least a few of the others called him out on that mindset, like Blair (at least I think it was him) stating that was sexual discrimination. It's sad that basic human decency in men is something so rare that I applaud anyone who expresses it.
"Americans have a positive opinion towards immigrants." Tyler why are you lying like this.
I kinda understood what he was trying to say but his fail korean definitely doesn't help him this time. Maybe this is why he knows to shut up most of the time. He's essentially Zhang yuan 2.0 but just doesn't express his extremely conservative views as often.
That said he's still one of my favorites from the show for not constantly dragging out his sentences and stories unlike some members.
When Tyler talked about immigrants, my bf and I rolled our eyes so hard. It's almost the same as guillames statement about how Canada doesn't have problems with racism.
Sam is not the best representation of black people IMO. My reasoning is that everyone else generally sound intellectual in their responses but Sam is always goofy and it seems he has been regulated to the class clown. He is always saying weird stuff which gets misconstrued (e.g. his explanation of the Ghanian tradition of giving alcohol to babies) and every episode it they wave off whatever he says because of it. I feel like he is trying to give off the laid back approachable funny guy because black people are often seen as angry or aggressive and he maybe tying to break that stereotype but I wish he would speak more seriously more often especially since there are 12 members but only 3 POC (Sam for Ghana, Sujan for Nepal and Takuya for Japan).
