2AM’s Seulong Denies Favoring AOA’s Jimin on “Unpretty Rapstar”

2AM’s Seulong revealed his thoughts on rumors that claimed he favored AOA’s Jimin on “Unpretty Rapstar.”

On February 27, he posted on his Twitter, “I cannot help but leave a message of frustration after monitoring the latest episode of ‘Unpretty Rapstar.’ I’ve never written a message like this before, but I just wanted to let you know that I did not favor anyone. I don’t know what to say if you felt so while watching the show.”



“I’m upset that I’m being framed for favoritism when all four of us judged together,” he said. “We all had fun together during the filming, and I’m grateful that the song is doing well. However, I’m leaving this message of frustration because I can’t help but feel troubled and upset.”

Earlier, during the episode of “Unpretty Rapstar” on February 26, Seulong, San E, Verbal Jint, and Kangnam judged on which female rapper should claim the song “Good Start 2015.” Between Tymee, Jimin, and Jolly V, Jimin was selected.

Since then, however, several viewers have accused Seulong of giving Jimin an overly favorable evaluation.

I haven't finished last week's episode yet (I fell asleep lmao) and this might turn into a rant but the whole show shows favoritism towards Jimin... Obviously because of exposure and sales and San E turns into a pedo bear whenever she's around. When Jidam got the first song instead of her I was like yaaas. I can't anymore with her calculated idol behaviour whenever she's performing, I wish she'd let it go. I kind of doubt if she's even familiar with American hip hop and its roots but well 90% of idol "rappers" don't know shit.

I know that they're both adults and their age difference duh I'm taking about his behaviour and him creeping on her and giggling around whenever Jimin is standing next to him. In the first episode he chose her over Cheetah, which was imo unjustified. The other contestants noticed him crushing on Jimin, too. As host/judge he should stay neutral.

Cheetah and Jimin should have both won the first mission

Cheetah is still a bit uneasy when she's performs, Jimin can help her and Cheetah can help her with controlling her voice and letting go a little

Jimin imo has a lot of potential and working w/ somebody like Cheetah could help, imo her rapping is a higher pitched/cute version of LE. I admit she surprised me sometimes in a positive way. I feel like she needs a underground mentor, who could work with her on her rhythm and rhymes and tell her to act less like an idol and more like a rapper but yeah I don't know if this makes sense.

Being an idol is what makes her popular right now and since she's barely getting pay as it is I don't see her letting go of that image for now

That being said, I think it'd be great if she was a ghost riter for a while.
Taking a different name, writing for people, and in a few years "hey all the songs you like I wrote them, now I'm going solo buy my album"
But would that even work?

The fact that they're still not getting paid is unfortunate and baffles me.

It's probably difficult, e.g Yeeun faced a lot of pressure at first when she started writing songs. However there are exceptions like LE and Junhyung, who benefit from the fact that they are supported by Shinsadong Tiger. But these examples are "normal" song writers. However becoming a ghost writer, damn now I kind of wish a bunch of idols would do that.

I only watched the first episode and dropped it after it because I don't really like hip hop/rap anyway. I only found that pedobear comment really off putting because as long both are grown adults and in this case, even with a small age gap it's not anything "pedo". Creepy/sleazy behavior is one thing, but as long there aren't minors involved it can't be labeled as "pedo", just as creepy.

Probably because I witnessed a real pedophilia case not too long ago that everytime people use expressions like "pedonoona", "pedobear", etc when talking about grown adults it makes me feel uncomfortable because the real issue is way too serious :/

I get what they're saying about it coming off as favouritism from the editing but she *did* do well in the mission so I don't see the big issue.

lbr, there are certain hooks/storylines that the PDs *want* to perpetuate to intensify the show. Though I do believe SanE likes Jimin, it seems more like the PDs grabbed on to it and perpetuated it by turning it into an ongoing signature joke that sprouts up once in a while every ep. Just like the 'all the judges are afraid to death of Jessi' ongoing scenes.

Every show needs that idol underdog to get views. People watch the show in hope that she either gets better or fail miserably so they can trash her. Jimin probably has had the most public exposure compared to the other girls.

I honestly think San E is playing the stereotypical role that you see on other variety shows. Like when an idol or a popular celebrity guests on a show, there are a lot of "comedic flirting" over that celebrity. I predicted that Jimin would get fonded over by San E.
