Yuri reveals she needs Girls’ Generation’s consent if she wants a second job

In a recent episode of KBS 2TV‘s Stars With Two Jobs, Girls’ Generation’s Yuri revealed that should she want to pursue another job, she must confer with her group members first.

Aired on February 21st, the episode also featured Ki Tae Young, Lee Bon, Rainbow‘s Jaekyung, Fly To The Sky‘s Brian, and Jo Dal Hwan, who together with Yuri, prepared themselves with the challenge of having a second job.

During one of its segments, the MC asked Yuri, “Would you be okay having two jobs?” to which she replied, “I would have to go over it with the Girls’ Generation members and try to get their consent.” She further shared that her first priorities and commitment were to entertainment activities with the group.

On the episode, Yuri became a one-day yoga instructor, sharing her skills in yoga and passing on her lessons with everyone on the show.

Like I said elsewhere...this is some bullshit. Grown ass women having to ask permission to grow their careers and live their lives? They are in a business relationship and if you are restricting others more that is jacked up.

Since Jessica was removed SNSD has done like 10 days of group work. So why did Sooyoung have to leave her show but Yuri got some new varieties (which are lame) and Yoona get to go off to China?

Uh. They're in business relationship is exactly why they need permission from the others if they want to run another business though? I'm pretty sure thats how it works in real life. Like my job contract even restricted me to take another job outside of my workplace...

Both SM and SNSD give their permission for Jessica to run her business, but then she failed to met the (unknown) conditions they set and they had several meetings to discuss that. But it's unresolved so she's out. It's not baffling at all. idk I dont think it's merely about hindering group activities when it comes to Jessica's case. There's obviously more to that.

You shouldn't need to ask for permission, all members of Snsd have renewed "Separate" Contracts so it shouldn't matter legally.

Since they're a group it makes sense if they discuss among themselves before taking up other activities to avoid conflict of interests. Both SM & Jess side claimed she had consent to work on her clothes label so whatever arrangements they has it simply broke down along the way. The why, who, when & how remain a mystery.

I can totally understand why in an entertainment group where PR is a major part of their job, they would need to discuss any potential side businesses in order to make sure that it upholds the image of the group.

However having every personal schedule be okayed by the other 8 members (at least originally) seems messy to me since they probably compete for similar jobs (at least the mid-level famous ones). I think it would be better if SM's pr or managers got the decision and the other girls only speak up if they strongly disagree with management's decision.
