Netizen dispatched their investigation team, and bbaaam! Their effort seems to shed a new light about what song had been stolen from M.I.B.
Baechigi ft Ailee - Shower of Tears
If you're new to kpop, you probably don't know, but the song Shower of Tears paved Baechigi's way to the music industry as the new dark house in hip-hop genre. They won #1 several times on music program during early 2013. The song even made them won Best Rap/Hip-Hop at Melon Music Awards and Discovery of The Year at MAMA.
So, let's continue on how netizen think Shower of Tears is the stolen song that Kangnam talked about.
First, if you search Shower of Tears on Naver, these related searches will pop-up: 'Shower of Tears Plagiarism' 'Shower of Tears Kangnam' 'Shower of Tears Composer' 'Inside Story Salon Kangnam' 'MIB song' 'Inside Story Salon Kangnam Song' etc
The song was produced by Lee Jiho & Loptimist and Baechigi was credited as lyricist. Anyway, the question is why Shower of Tears is related as Kangnam's stolen song?
Shower of Tears was released in January 2013.
In mid 2013, MIB revealed a song featuring MFBTY titled Mess which in one of the lyric written,
You’re the only one way, I only want you
I’m Ailee’s pet that sleeps in heaven
When you ask when I’m going home, I answer, not yet
Netizen started showing a cautious distrust. Why Ailee was mentioned out of the blue when all artists referred on the song are rappers only? Mess published ahead of Showr of Tears and this evidence still kind of weak, right?
But this is not the end.
Later, MIB SIMS published a diss track titled You, in one of the phrase, he stated,
It's too good to miss, the shower of tears that I had wished for
What's the definition of genuine? I dont need a reason
The question raises again, why shower of tears mentioned? Out of the blue?
Well, it could be a coincidence and the song could be another song, not Shower of Tears. However, the lyrics above apt to arouse suspicion towards Shower of Tears.
Summary:
1. Kangnam and MIB members composed a song together with a close acquaintance they know.
2. Kangnam and the members sung the chorus and Kangnam even recorded his voice as guide
3.The song was not able to make it on their own album and dropped
4.Years later, another singer sang the song and became popular.
5. The problem is, Kangnam and the members were left out from credit
6. Feeling unfair, Kangnam ranted on a TV show
7. Netizen set up for investigation team. They discover the song that was stolen might be Shower of Tears.
8. Currently people assumption laying on Shower of Tears.
Poor Kangnam, Shower of Tears was by far the best selling single of 2013

my personal faves are men in black, chisa bounce, and mib is coming :o

They also debuted with a full album, and have had several comebacks so yeah it can seem overwhelming! I hope you like it though!
(Idk about your music taste but I also really dig their collab with Bomi "Let's Talk About You" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlRgNmhS8sM) but it's very different from their usual sound)
