Best K Drama of 2015 Off to a Bad Start With Low Ratings

According to the viewership ratings research company Nielsen Korea, “Blood,” which aired its first episode on February 16, recorded a 5.2 percent viewership rating.

This is 3.8 percent down from the last episode of “Healer” on February 10, which previously had the time slot that “Blood” now holds on KBS 2TV.

Because of the new drama’s poor performance, the other competitors in the time slot did better. Episode 18 of SBS‘s “Punch” held on to the first place spot with 14.0 percent viewership ratings, up 2.1 percent compared with last week’s 11.9 percent. Episode 9 of MBC’s “Shine or Go Crazy” went up to 11.2 percent from last week’s 11.0 percent.

what did they expect? the synopsis was (to put nicely) laughable and as their leads they chose the human form of a wet slice of white bread and the kid that only has his fictional relationship with chun song yi going on in his acting career.

Commenter #4 has it down. Lee Jong Suk would've been a better fit. AJH is nowhere near leading man status. Not sure how he landed this role. Then again, they did also cast GHS and she's pretty bad as well.

i feel bad for the writer, i actually do like the synopsis and knowing his style from good doctor i'm sure there was some touching message to send out through the drama - but i think vampire stuff is too advanced of cg as of yet for korean dramas with their low budget and no sensible actor wants to risk the embarrassment...

i kno jung il woo rejected it and i think someone else also rejected it then in desperation it went to ahn jae hyun

i got through the first episode and like 7 mins of the 2nd episode bcuz ajh isn't good but he's not awful awful while gu hye sun is horrific. she has this trash helium bitch voice and her face is frozen x annoyed lord. she's truly awful. i only saw her in BOF and i liked her fine in that but BOF was ridic so her trash acting fit right in.

poor ji jin hee though, this trend of casting hot young male leads and forcing experienced older actors to play second fiddle isn't helping anyone

Some fans and shielders were quick to label commenters who criticise the show as 'haters'. And they said it is unfair to judge the show based on previews alone and not watch the episodes.

And so I watched it.

Verdict: hot dayum the show is a boring medical drama with embarassing vampire shenanigans, and topped with bad and cringeworthy acting from both of the leads. D: my view about the show doesn't change (heck it went worse now that I watched the episodes). It's not even fun kind of horrible like Doctor Stranger that could at least give joy for us to continuously snark at.

I can't believe it that I was sad when Yoo Yeon Seok declined to be Blood's lead back then. Ahahahahaha. Good job Yeon Seok bb, good job. xD

Netizens don't shield Jae Hyun with all this he cool/ acting lil cheesy.
He's not good actor in this. At all.
Unlike GHS, who is hopless for a long while, he leaves some hope for the future (he started serious acting not long ago, right?), but will always have that wooden element.
Damm, his agency really done him wrong with accepting this. GHS acting reputation is destroyed since always, but he kinda had good start with YWCFTS and even did YAS with freakin Cha Seung Won (ok, maybe it wasn't hit but good production with great level cast) and now - this smell of fake blood and riddic contacts will never leave him.

I watched 5 minutes of the first episode, lost it when Ahn Jae Hyun started jumping over chairs after swallowing a green pill(?). Then the gunshot scene HAHAHA it looked like he was about to have fits or something. And that "I am not a human but a vampire" part.. ouch. He's a cute boy with pretty decent acting skills.. I even thought he was really adorable in YFAS, but there's no way he could be leading man material for now.

I couldn't even make it past GHS's scenes.. watched the previews and had secondhand embarrassment right away. Man that was some really stiff and awkward acting hahaha :/

I thought ep 1 wasn't so bad. Like it wasn't great but it was OK. The parents were awesome, ji jin hee was sexy and mysterious, and I liked the child actor. Also vampirism as a virus! it seemed like they had really thought it out. There was major cheese - the magic woods and the otp meeting as kids of course (wouldn't be a kdrama without it) but it was surprisingly watchable. But episode 2. I couldn't even get through it. It was such a mess. The unproffesional hospital scenes, that wierd as anything robot and the sweet dude who seems to be in love with the vampire doc?! Everything and the kitchen sink. This drama is throwing at us. It was embarassing to watch and I felt ashamed for slightly enjoying episode 1.

I am also interested how this show will ustain itself as it seems like they spent the entire budget for the show in the first episode with all the "kochenia" scenes and attempts at effects.
