plot:
Most people dream of seeing their first loves again. 'Fool’s Love' Explores The Trials And Triumphs Of Dating



"Fools Love," which began this week offers a quirky look at the joys and perils of dating. The main character Ho Gu, works as an assistant to his friend who writes manhwas and he also works in his dad's store selling them.

Played by Choi Woo Sik, Ho Gu seems hopeless and lovable at the same time. He doesn't have much success dating since he's ready to give everything in a relationship and can't seem to tell when the girl is only stringing him along.

His friends make fun of him for not being able to read the signals and his flirt of a sister, played by Lee Soo Kyung, is no help either.

She tells him that dating is like crossing the street.

You have to pick a person in the short amount of time you spend crossing the street, she says. Your choices are limited, so you may as well pick a likely person and you should do so in a hurry.

Ho Gu is more of a romantic. He thinks there should be chemistry. He thinks that when you see someone crossing the street, your eyes should meet. You should know that person is the one.

His sister laughs at his foolish naiveté.

It's a fun performance by Choi Woo Sik who played "cute" before as the Jang Hyuk's half brother in "Fated To Love You" and as a half-hearted prosecutor in "Pride and Prejudice." But his "cute" in "Fool's Love" is so endearing that viewers may be inclined to pat his messy hair and reassure him.

Because dramas like to portray love as fated, Ho Gu falls for his former high school classmate Do Hee, played by Uee, when they see each other crossing the street. After that encounter, he can't forget her. And her fame doesn't help. Since she is a silver medal swimmer, her image is everywhere. He even stops to speak to her advertising image in a store window.

He's sure that she does not remember who he is. After all, she was one of the prettiest students in his high school and he was just another student. But he's wrong. She does remember him. She visits his father's manhwa shop. But he is so busy catching a pickpocket and selling a copy of the manhwa "Misaeng" to Lee Jung Shin, who played Manager Oh in the drama version of "Misaeng" that he does not notice Do Hee.

But then Do Hee has plenty of things to distract her too. She's not happy at having won a silver medal rather than a gold one. She broke up with her ex-boyfriend, a lawyer, and only recently discovered that she's pregnant.

Yoon Nan Jong, who wrote "Flower Boy Ramen Shop." Wrote "Fool's Love." It has that same "anything can happen" feel to it. And that's a good thing.

i just watched this and i was really excited bcuz i thought it was fun rom com but she's pregnant?!?!?!?! and i read that SPOILER WARNING she got TRIGGER WARNING raped?!?!?!

im so confused and i wanna like this show and the cast is nice, it's a little try hard with the humor and doesn't have the fresh fun flow of marriage not dating or any of TVN's other romcoms which is disappointing. his ensemble of friends are kinda of annoying and dudebro like, his sister is bratty and manipulative and not in a cute way, his parents are ok, Ho Gu is cute and CWS does such a good job. I'm proud he got a lead but I'm sooo worried for this show.

im not sure if i wanna stick with this show since it seem like Ho Gu's pushover-ness will be more frustrating and annoying rather than comedy gold & cute. i really don't wanna watch a drama where the main character is being pushed over and doesn't develop a backbone or common sense until like 12 episodes in, plus I like Do Do Hee so far but if she's going to string Ho Gu along and force him to take responsibility for the child/mistreat/string him along I really don't think I can sympathize with that kind of heroine.

I'm going to watch next week's episodes and hopefully it gets better/more interesting and honestly I kinda of wish she loses the baby otherwise the drama seems like it'll drag.

A netizen mentioned she got raped in a comment on NetizensBuzz. I think this is based off a manwha so that's where they got it from. It wasn't mentioned at all in the 2nd episode and her ex is the lawyer but I personally think they broke up a while ago and he isn't the father of her baby.

and yah everyone knows everyone in these shows. other wises we wouldn't have show i guess.

Yeah i was thrown by that comment too. it's not hinted at, at all in episode one or two. They have already changed somethings from the webcomic. Hogu is just suppose to wake up the next morning with a baby on his doorstep, the pregnancy part is all new. So I'm hoping they changed it into an unplanned pregnancy cause I'm not gonna watch Seulong as a rapist to be honest. In fact I find it hard to believe he or JYPE would agree to that role. I do think he is the father though (and a jerk) cause he recommended the doctor she goes too.

unplanned pregnancy sounds best. i would never watch a drama with the second male lead as a rapist fuck that shit, who would think that's a good idea?!?!?!?!?! to humanize a rapist?!?!

if she isn't raped then i think he's the father too. i don't want her to be with him though, he seems like an uncaring ass. and their baby is one more thing tying them together so i really don't want her to have the baby. we'll see how the drama pans out. i still have a little hope.

I'm confused to where the drama is going with her keeping the baby (meaning - not aborting).
It's funny and cute, and I hope it stays that way. I hope they don't turn Ho Goo into a pushover and more dumber than he is (I want a TRUE nice guy as a lead for once), and I like Deo Hee. UEE is a goddess, and her acting is on point (beach scene; though they overdone it with unnecessary crying in the background).
I'm kinda worried if I'll like it from next week, because I'm not here for the baby, it will just bring unnecessary drama.

I was laughing like crazy because of the black humor in the preview - Ho Goo, I guess, ripping the baby from her stomach - that's why the bloody hands. omg.

TVN has to do something about their filters, though. If they just adjust them a bit, it would be heaven for the eyes.
