'4 Things Show': Hoya "I got deeply traumatized after Reply 1997 because people thought I was a part of the sexual minority"

Infinite member Hoya reveals a misunderstanding that he received after appearing on the drama ‘Reply 1997’.
On the February 10th broadcast of Mnet’s ‘4 Thing Show’ he said “After appearing on Reply 1997 I got shocked at hearing the words sexual minority.” And then he said “Even other celebrities were asking me if I was a part of the LGBT community. And I even got traumatized. I was like that for a year after the drama ended.” To that Dongwoo said “People around us asked Hoya that question. People at the broadcast stations, and other celebrities asked him.”
(T/N: Sexual minority in this case means gay. They didn't downright say 'gay' in this article or the comments.)
[+5193, -76] Whats up with the people who actually think it’s real? Can you not think?
[+3346, -45] He must’ve had a hard time!!
[+3361, -98] I respect sexual minorities but it’s still not nice to receive misunderstanding like that
[+3214, -36] If it was me I would’ve had a really hard time too. Because of a role and people misunderstood me like that
[+299, -7] Those type of people are the type who always watch WGM and says that Song Jae Rim must’ve been pissed off because Kim So Eun cheated on him. They can't differentiate realityㅋㅋ
[+289, -7] What the hell are they talking about so if people are dating in a drama that means they’re actually dating? What’s up with the heads of the people in the broadcast stations and the celebrities? It’s just a role wtf
[+232, -5] I can’t understand the people who asked…

There's a slightly longer article on allkpop, but the only other source who has posted about this so far is onehallyu.
I checked the link like 5 times and it works just fine. It links to the onehallyu post. I can't even.

Date: 2015-02-10 11:04 pm (UTC)Hmph. I respect straight people but--. No, now, seriously, this comment reeks of "ew I respect them but how can you insult me like that?" and I'm not here for that
That said, wtf is wrong with people who ask directly? What if you asked someone who is and isn't out? If you'd asked me when I was a teen/not out I would've probs panicked.

Date: 2015-02-10 11:43 pm (UTC)Traumatized? Really? Because how you were treated is no where near as bad as how people in the LGBT community are treated on a daily basis, so shut up.

Date: 2015-02-10 11:44 pm (UTC)Like on one hand, being gay isn't a problem. Like I have 99 problems, but my bisexuality aint one. So I think his words are harmful in a way because he might make other closeted people, who already feel ostracized, feel as if they have something more to hide.
On the other hand I feel like asking these questions simply because someone played a gay role is incredibly disrespectful and harmful. As well, being asked if you are gay in a society that perceives homosexuality as something negative can be extremely damaging, whether the person is gay or not. I know that from personal experience too.
