After debuting only a month ago, girl group SONAMOO is already set to star in their very own reality TV show.
The program, entitled “SONAMOO’s Pet House,” will see the group’s members transformed into cute dog-sitters, taking care of dogs who come to stay with them in their ‘doggy guest house.’ Viewers can look forward to seeing all kinds of dogs appear on the show, from those being raised by celebrities to both big and small dogs alike.
It has been further revealed that the girls have been getting themselves fully prepared for filming by visiting both animal hospitals and dog cafes and also reading books on raising dogs. Such efforts by the girls display their dedication to taking care of the dogs who come to stay in the house.
After beginning filming on February 9, “SONAMOO’s Pet House” is scheduled to premiere in the beginning of March on SBS MTV and SBS funE.

Date: 2015-02-10 02:43 am (UTC)tbh if a dog isn't at least, like, husky-sized, why bother (except that thing about how the bigger they are the shorter their lifespan, haha whoops the earliest time i could conceivably move back home if i don't drop out of grad school is near the end of my dog's lifespan)
well ive set the tone for this post appropriately, bye

Date: 2015-02-10 03:28 am (UTC)Her name is Siku, it's Inuktitut for ice
she's pretty lazy for a husky but that's kind of good, she'd probably be pretty tough to deal with otherwise. My parents got rid of the lounge suite from these pics, but despite my dad acting like a big tough guy, he got so annoyed by the dog pacing around constantly because she's not allowed on the new lounge suite that he put the old sofa back in the lounge, haha
this is what she does when she's bored/wants attention, except if you go to pet her she'll sit there for a couple of seconds and then get up and walk to the door for you to let her out
and this is what she does when she wants outside when people are in the lounge. she just sits there and stares at you , sometimes yawning, until you get up and let her out
#ethereal
wow these pics are enormous i hope that spoiler works
WHOOPS IT DIDN'T LET'S SEE IF IT DOES NOW
alright i think we're good

Date: 2015-02-10 04:01 am (UTC)i feel u on the age thing, i have a standard poodle (but i dont trim her with all those puffs n shit, fuck that noise) and shes just slightly smaller than a husky id think and getting into her senior years. it especially sucks cos poodle are prone to hip dysplasia and joint stuff (i think its a big dog thing?) and shes already having trouble going up stairs and im like ughhh :(( but small dogs have problems of their own too so basically thanks, inbreeding
im including photos of my baby too (sorry i slap obnoxious filters on everything) also her name is coco i forgot to say which doesnt suit a blonde dog but i didnt name her
"im sick of your shit lj user leopolitan"
this is how she looks when she hasnt been groomed in a while

Date: 2015-02-10 04:17 am (UTC)yeah huskies have health issues too, my dog had seizures kind of regularly for a while but thankfully they stopped (not very fun when your school bus has to stop suddenly in the middle of the main road because your dog's disoriented after a seizure and running around with its mouth foaming, thankfully we were in a semi-rural place). She's also purebred and got some kind of bad infection of her girly inside bits during her first heat and had to get some plumbing removed, so there wasn't even a chance for one litter because purebreeding is the dumbest most unscientific concept this side of antivax rhetoric
in fact the whole culture around dog breeding is pretty messed up, esp when you look at stuff like pugs which are pretty much 'this is as fucked up as we can make an animal before all the foetuses it produces grow with the ribcage inside the heart or something'. My stance on pugs is that they are what people who are terrified of genetic engineering should actually rail against
and yeah huskies have two main problems, behaviour-wise:
1) they love nothing more than running, and for a lot of them that's the only thing they're really into
2) they're basically too smart for their own good
the only food that our dog gets excited about is cheese (which is pretty bad for them, having both dairy and sodium) so it's pretty hard to train them using treats. Sometimes when I was out walking her on the beach or somewhere in the countryside and she'd see another dog or a rabbit in the distance and you tell her to sit to put her lead back on, you basically get the feeling that she's just making the choice of whether it's worth the repercussions to do what she wants to do. If you can get them enough exercise they're usually alright, but I'm in Toronto now and I've seen a few people around my apartment building with huskies and I just can't imagine any way they can get them enough exercise on a daily basis, I just feel kind of bad for both parties involved in that situation

Date: 2015-02-10 04:43 am (UTC)i understand. i kind of have a horror story with huskies, my dog was mauled by a husky about 6 years ago and she hasnt been the same since when it comes to huskies and akitas etc. it kind of killed my trust in them too for a bit too - the guy was jogging past me with his dog off leash when the dog sniffed mine then suddenly attacked. looking back he was probably just a negligent douche (we exchanged #'s and his turned out to be fake, i was a young teen back then and too shaken to check at the time) but i also wonder like...maybe he was only comfortable taking his dog off leash bc she had been docile up to that day? that element of unpredictability put me off huge breeds for a bit especially ones with a more aggressive reputation. but huskies are so pretty, i could never hold a grudge against one lol
also we both live in toronto! i live on the west end like in rob fords backyard almost (im embarrassed to say) and im honestly glad my dog is pretty low energy for her size cos theres no leash free areas near me and i dont really have a big backyard (or a car and i dont fancy taking her on the ttc)

Date: 2015-02-10 05:37 am (UTC)yeah most of the time my dog is fine and just sort of playful, but smaller dogs would often kind of take things too far but then it just looks bad when she retaliates. Our neighbour's german shepherd also jumped the fence to try and get at her when she was pretty small too, as well as another neighbour's german shepherd that would bark at basically everyone that walked past their gate, but only after you were sort of past it, so it was kind of surprising most of the time and i kind of have the same feeling about that breed
dogs with strong prey drives can be unpredictable, for years they'll be fine but then something can happen one day and they just kind of snap, like when we pulled over to let her out on a road trip and she found some feral chickens by the roadside, whoops
