SHINee member Jonghyun recently showed off the cute actions of one of his fans by revealing that he is not in need of a girlfriend.

On February 7, Jonghyun wrote on his personal Twitter account, “Someone stuck this on me at the fan sign event^^…Yes….I no longer have a chance now….I don’t need one!!!^^ While the fans are now coming up to me and saying ‘Jonghyun, I’m getting married.’ Congrats^^….”

Along with this humorous post, the SHINee member uploaded a photo of himself with a sticker stuck to his forehead. The words written on the sticker given to him by a fan, read, “I don’t need such a thing as a girlfriend,” providing much laughter to fans.

In the selca, Jonghyun can be seen wearing a bittersweet smile on his face, as he announces that he does not need a girlfriend, all the while poking fun at the fans who are revealing that they are getting married.

Every time he mentions relationships or how he feels no need for one, I think back to how badly Shawols took the announcement of his relationship to Shin Se Kyung...yikes. And didn't he cry and kneel before his fans for that? Or am I thinking about someone else?

Sometimes you're at a time of your life where you simply aren't in the mood for a serious relationship or just prefer other things like focusing on your career and personal fullfilment. He's still young anyway. I only wanted to hang out and have fun when I was his age like 5 years ago, and even now sometimes I feel like I wouldn't be 100% prepared for a serious relationship tbh.

If it is his true feelings that yes at this time he doesn't care about dating then good on him but if this is because of how the fans tormented him about when he was dating then this is very sad.

He cried in Tawiwan when the fans there supported him.

I wish idols could live a more normal life, love is a good thing. It is sad that some fans would deny that of their favs for their own selfish desires.

like...., if you keep tabs on his radio show, he doesn't go a full week without mentioning marriage, kids, being in love / alluding to wanting to be in love, always making jokes about not allowing messages to get sent into the shows about relationships, ect. like it's possible that he IS content but... i mean, either way, i highly doubt he'd admit to dating or flat out SAY he wants to date anytime soon if ever again after what happened the last time.

I think all of the backlash back then gave him a really bad complex. He's very paranoid about any dating rumors or controversy - if anything, he's learned how to keep all of that intensely private.

I became a fan after the dating scandal came out, and the fandom was so darn rude. The comments were so horrible to read. Also part of the reason I stayed away from the fandom although it doesn't really matter now since I'm a casual fan of their songs.

He cried, hard, but that's all I remember. I do think he had a really hard time and I will never not be pissed at the fandom for that. He didn't deserve that (neither did she, ofc) and I hope if he ever dates again and ends up public, he receives better treatment from fans. He deserves to be happy and his fans should be the first ones wanting that for him? I just don't get some fans and never will tbh.

If he's really content with being single, then go you. But if he's not and he meets someone, I do hope he manages to go on with it and be happy. I will never not wish this boy all the best ♥

I wasn't a fan at that time, but it was really THAT terrible? Which comments did he get? Anyway, he's always got the most hateful comments from the fandom and I don't understand why because he's such a sweetheart. I get that some people didn't like his "over the top" stage persona, but he toned down that a LOT over the years yet still some people say he's overdoing it all the time and being cocky/arrogant. Idg how someone who has seen his recent promotions can think he's an arrogant try hard when he's been nothing but polite, calm and humble all the freaking time. It really was that terrible. Several fan sites shut down temporarily for both Jonghyun and Shin Se Kyung. A ton of fan essays - not just comments, essays - came out about he'd broken the contract with fans and the illusion of idols belonging to the fans. It was right around the goodbye stage for Hello and some people even said the cheers for Jonghyun were quieter that weekend (I couldn't tell but I'm not that observant).

There was a while (maybe a month or so?) when he was completely silent during interviews (no one is sure if he wasn't allowed to speak or just didn't want to).

I have only been in K-pop since late 2009 but it was the worst reaction to an idol dating that I can remember.

Poor thing. He doesn't deserve all that shit. I truly hope he can find someone he's truly happy with and that he's supported this time or just decide to not give a shit about those "fans" because he's a grown ass 25 y/o man anyway and it's his life after all. Those "fans" can stay bitter.

Because Jonghyun and Se kyung scandal was one of the first public couple. People were not ready for that, since there is no such thing happened before. After Jonghyun incident, everybody takes it less harsh than him. People had experience from that dating scandal.

When I first slid helplessly into the liquid embrace of Kpop, I was trying to learn about bowing, and one example people gave was Jonghyun's triple 90° bow to the audience after a song on a TV show - a wordless but loud apology for having the temerity to fall in love. I hadn't heard about the show of support, though. Gods bless you, Taiwanese fangirls.
