I thought YG got Dara as an acting talent (w/o an audition), but Dara wanted to be a singer too. So she trained until he finally let her.

dara likes both singing(even though she's not gifted in that area) & acting.
it's not unusual for stars to start in kpop groups.
look at sung yuri & yoon eun hye.

i think the philippines saw that and for a brief time, had her in shows and movies.

i miss seeing her in tv shows and movies.. she just has natural charisma on the movie/tv screen.

hopefully we'll get to see more of her in that medium in the future.

I totally agree. Sandara should've stuck to being an actress. Bom should've gone solo and CL and Minji would be best as a duo (reminiscent of GDYB).

I don't know, korean market is weird, I love Sandara but I agree, and like I said somewhere before, Sulli is f(x)'s Sandara :P, both are very pretty, both are mediocre singers but they are very good at acting, I love them both though :P

2NE1 needs Dara, because brings personality and charisma into the group, if you guys didnt notice the others seem dead on screen, minji and bom seem to be comfortable in 2NE1TV but behind other camera they aren't. 2NE1 is pretty much dull without Dara. thats what makes Korea like Dara more, even though shes lacking as a singer or a dancer she certainly ahead of the others in other aspects because she has been in the Philippine Entertainment Industry.

Dara may seem mediocre but to me shes already very good compared as what she is here, I'm very proud of her.

nope, personality on tv and shows can be gained through experience but you can never gain talent even through a bajillion years of practice if you don't really have it in you. sandara is mediocre that much is given. and personally i appreciate her efforts but i don't think she's going to improve, she's already been in the industry longer than minji and cl and those two already outshone her in both aspects of singing and dancing. in short, sandara already has way too many chances than those two and yet she still falls far too short of expectations.
sure, 2ne1 needs sandara for a pretty face, but not for personality bc in all honesty having personality on tv is mostly gained by experience, as the group have more screen time onscreen they're pretty much going to get the hang of it, just like big bang did.

I'm sorry but i have to disagree, Talent can be developed, there are ALOT of artists out there who started off not having it but later on gets it by studying and training.

Dara may be mediocre but she has alot of charisma, she may fall short against her members but she could keep up with her members.

there are more reasons why shes there, there are reasons why bom didnt make it solo, and only YG knows why he put up Dara there.

You may see it like this now but Dara had ALOT of improvement from what she was here, probably dont care about that, but we do, it means she can STILL improve, 2NE1 is still in the process of learning, they are learning and training everyday, why would they call them new evolution for nothing?

you know what, this makes me wonder if yg would still debut sandara if may doni did not left yg.

i like sandara for her bubbly personality onstage, she's like the mood maker of the group but apart from that.. meh :/
she would have been like the next goo hye sun if she hadn't debuted in 2ne1.
