So... she enjoyed shocking a more sexually conservative country with more overt displays of sex. And did it... because art? Shock value?

This is actually fairly interesting, because I didn't know who she was and wasn't aware that a scandal like that had ever taken place. Although with a title of "JustKiddingNews" I was skeptical about the video at first haha. I guess it goes to show just how different things really are in our culture here in the US and the culture of South Korea. She even mentioned that when she was telling the dancers it was okay to touch the idols, they were all giggling and kind of nervous about it, and she said "it's really not a big deal" or something similar to that.
On the other hand, though, I'm sure that choreo with GD had to get approved..who in the world thought that would be a good idea for a concert? I'm confused why she said that she was never able to see her apartment with all her things in it ever again - like, they wouldn't let her back in the country and didn't ship her her belongings?

That confused me too but maybe what she didn't see again was "the apartment WITH her things in" but her things were shipped to her? Like maybe she left in a hurry. How long ago was that Big Bang controversy, btw, do you know? I just re-read your comment that you didn't know about the scandal, lol, sorry.

But yeah, IA that the choreo had to be approved. Even if she did it, someone at YG said, hey, yes, that's a good idea, so idk.

Is this serious or one of JKN's usual skits?

Ah ok. Didn't know they cut down on the skits. I watched them on and off; but I mostly just pay attention to David So. I'll go have a look at it.

But if I remember correctly, wasn't she the girlfriend of another US choreographer, and they had both worked together for YG. This video makes it seem like she went at it solo~

Yeah Shaun Evaristo was her BF and he was the head, she probably got a lot of input because he respected her opinion.

She's been milking the hell out of being a "kpop choreographer" but she hasn't done anything in Korea since Big Bang if I'm not mistaken and that was years ago.

Ty, OP, this was interesting. I'm always interested in hearing the experiences of people raised in the West working in kpopland, maybe because I feel I will be able to relate to their experiences more? Like when she said the Korean girls (dancers, I guess) were giggling and all about touching the idols and she thought it was no big deal.

Also idk, the controversy was not only her doing? Yes, she choreographed it from what I understood but someone at YG gave the OK and GD was also on board, so whatever, she wasn't the only one going after the shock value there.

Had a chance to work with her on a project, she's really nice and sweet. Even wrote personal letters to each of the team to show her appreciation.

i remember reading about the performance around the time it happened (2009?) but i didn't know she was the dancer in it. i didn't know she was kept from being a kpop choreographer because of it.

I met her IRL and she's the nicest person ever, and I was told by other LA VIPs who took classes with her that she's the best.

Anyway, for those of you that don't know, the "other" choreographer was Shaun Evaristo and he was dating Aimee at the time. We all assumed he was the main guy, though, because that's how he made it seem and his company in NoHo, as the one that was behind everything. They even did like a BTS youtube series and shit in like 2010 if I remember correctly showing the BB guys.

I had no idea she was the main person in charge. They broke up basically around the same time she got kicked out. He stayed working with YG up until Tonight. I don't know if there was some beef involved with them two about YG, but Shaun seems cold towards YG now, so I feel like he got fucked over too. At least Aimee still talks about it if asked and stuff, and she supports the guys, but Shaun seems to have distanced himself entirely.

aww that makes me sad if that's true. I really liked Shaun's, Mari Martin's, and the whole Movement Lifestyle team's work with YG. wish they'd work together again in the future. especially with Taeyang.

See. I've always wondered to them. Huh. Their relationship with YG seemed ideal. It's sad to hear that it didn't end well.

She isn't. Because Shaun was the main choreographer in almost everything...he'd teach the moves, she'll help with the more feminine moves. Aimee got to dance on stage a lot more tho...also if I remember correctly Shaun left for LA again but left Aimee in Korea, and she did the choreography for You & I, 2NE1's Follow Me & Don't Stop The Music then he went back and helped with GD & Taeyang's concerts...up until the scandal.

Then Shaun/Movement Lifestyle went back again and helped with 2NE1's 1st album promos (Can't Nobody,Clap Your Hands) /Se7en's comeback (Digital Bounce), and again for Taeyang's Solar promotions & concerts. I think Taeyang's Solar was their last work with them.

But Aimee kept in contact, I don't think Shaun did.

Then why would /she/ get kicked out, and not Shaun, if Shaun was the main choreographer? She could just say she was doing her part because they told her to. She's talking about how her involvement was such, that even YG treated her different, and she was directing the MVs. Why would she put that out there after 5 years and on a public ass forum. JKnews reaches a lot of people, not just the American-Asian community. She can get sued for lying.

I remember the whole GD concert thing. IMO it was dumb. If you listened to his album you would know some songs aren't okay for 9 year olds to be listening to why should they have to 19+ every concert because parents can't be bothered to know what the heck their children are doing.

The whole simulated bed scene has been happening at concerts for years Madonna, Usher, Janet Jackson, they all do it and in a much more explicit way. Kpop just wasn't ready yet and Aimee/ML had to suffer for it.
