Phantom’s Hanhae, who was originally a member of Block B, spilled his thoughts on leaving Block B.

Releasing his solo album 365 on January 30, Hanhae held an interview with Newsen and shared his thoughts on his upcoming solo activities saying, “It’s my candid music so if you listen to it expecting Phantom’s music, you might be shocked. I’m curious and scared to find out the public’s response to my music. I think that younger girls might especially be shocked.”

About his solo album 365, he said, “It’s a full length album with eight songs. It is entirely made up of my self-composed songs. The reason that the album’s title is 365 is because I spent one year making it and it contains the things that happened to be in that one year. For one year, I dated, took a long break, switched agencies and went through many personal things. It was a year that was filled with emotions. It’s an album that contains all those emotions.”

His first title song is called Man of the Year. Hanhae wrote the title himself. Hanhae said, “Man of the Year is a song that says that I will be the man. The title actually reflects my wish. It contains my wish to be the man of the year and it′s sort of self-suggestive. It contains my wish to be the man of the year, as if I’m making a wish for the new year.”

About the biggest difference between his solo album and Phantom’s albums, Hanhae said, “This solo album also contains quiet and lyrical songs but if Phantom used lyrics and a style of speech that are public-friendly, I candidly expressed my personal and honest feelings in this album. I would think that is the biggest difference. I made it without worrying about deliberation.”

Hanhae continued, “What I ultimately hope to accomplish through this album is, I would like to let people know that Hanhae is someone who does not take music lightly and that he can sincerely express music with his own style. That’s the most important thing.”

Having debuted in 2011 as Phantom, Haehae was originally a member of Block B. He trained along with the Block B members, including Zico, as he dreamed of becoming a singer but left the group in the end.

About the reason why he left Block B, Hanhae explained, “Simply put, I think I left because I didn’t match well with the group. I left because I thought that I don’t fit in well with Block B’s color. Block B has its own color now and it’s good to see that. I’m also much more satisfied to be working alone,”

He continued, “If I was a part of the seven member team, I don’t think that I would’ve been able to freely carry out my creative activities. I can freely write songs now. So I’m more satisfied and happy. Of course, at the time, I worked hard to join the team and thought that I’d be debuting as a member of that group. It was my first time experiencing bitter taste but I don’t think that I would’ve been happy even if I was a member of Block B now.”

Hanhae concluded, “I hope that things will work out well for Block B so they can keep on rolling and that I can happily work on my music. My dream is not to be a popular celebrity and I think I’d be happy even if a few people can enjoy my music and if I can work on music for a long time. So I’ve never regretted leaving Block B.”

Meanwhile, Hanhae’s first solo album 365 is currently taking pre-orders and will be released through various online and offline music stores on January 30.

I swear Block B is the new SNSD in terms of everyone and their uncle almost being a member.

I really dig Phantom, I hope they find success - Hole in Your Face was such an amazing song.
