Jessica rumored to have terminated contract with SM Entertainment

On January 28th, Jessica Jung made an appearance at the Yves Saint Laurent Beaute event where Hong Kong representative Mr. Ting reportedly shared that the artist has terminated her contract with SM Entertainment.

At the event, Jessica took to the stage to give a demonstration of the lipstick, receiving a professional application of it with Google Glass technologies. She caught attention with her outfit which featured a sexy white lace top that revealed her black bra and tight leather pants.

Chinese media sources have reported that the representative Mr. Ting stated the contract between Jessica and SM Entertainment has already been terminated. Netizens have had mixed reactions to these rumors. Some shared that they were glad to hear of the termination, confident that she would succeed in her endeavors, while others were unhappy at the possibility of contract termination.

In addition to this, Jessica answered questions regarding the arrival of Girls’ Generation’s Yuri to Hong Kong. To this, she responded with ignorance as she replied, “Oh, I didn’t know that.” Furthermore, when she shared she would like to collaborate with her good friend Nicholas Tse, perhaps in a movie with love scenes, the media questioned if rumored boyfriend Tyler Kwon would be jealous. Jessica replied, “Maybe you’ll be jealous,” smiling at the reporters.

Meanwhile, fans have been eagerly awaiting a possible music release by the artist as she has been spotted in recording studios recently.

...IDK, if this is true, I'll feel uneasy and kind of sad. She'd been with SM since she was 11, so to just up and end things like that AND with the number one agency in the world? (edit: I meant "k-pop world"...oop!) She'll probably get her the JYJ treatment, if not just getting straight up blacklisted. Plus, it'll probably mean the possible end of Krystal's time in f(x), since her and Jessica are super close.

Hopefully, we get a tell-all book or at least that JungSis unit as compensation...

If she waits until her contract is terminated anyway or they come to a mutual agreement, so may be ok. Shinhwa walked out when their contracts terminated and SM haven't treated them in the same way as JYJ. It also depends what Jess wants to do. JYJ were only able to survive because of their strong fanbase and because Jaejoong and Yoochun are still able to get exposure through dramas etc. Sones don't seem to have the same strength in fanbase, but if she goes into an industry that's not the music industry, SM won't really be able to block her as easily.

i wonder what will happen with krystal, like she's no longer the 7 year old that was only allowed in SM if her sister was, she's an adult, so we'll see if she keep on with f(x)/SM or quit

Well I rather hope she did terminate her contract because why on earth would she stay in SM? Might as well make her own way forward since she resigned to STAY in SNSD and they removed her. The betrayal came from SM so why shouldn't she leave? I guess I can't see OP's viewpoint.

Wasn't she in the studio with some guy (something Jackson) a while ago? So far SM is letting her do what she wants with fashion appearances but I highly doubt SM will let her go without profiting from a contract termination fee and even a lawsuit

If Jessica left SM, I doubt much will happen with Krystal (in terms of leaving unless her contract is up). Sure they are sisters and close, but Krystal has her own career to deal with. SM has her acting in dramas and various advertisement. SM is vindictive, but I dont think they would take it out on Krystal, especially since it allegedly wasn't Jessica's choice to leave SNSD.

agree! Even with SM reputation, they are not vindictive for vindictive's sake. Krystal is pretty much still a bankable commodity to them so there is no need to take it out on her. SM, at the end of the day, is still a business where profit and money are the decision makers.

Emotionally though, she's in a tight spot. She got to work with the people that make her sister into a betrayer. And i wouldn't put it pass catty/gossipy Sm workers who will whispers about her supposedly "betrayer" sister. There definitely will be a shift in the working atmosphere/environment, no doubt

emotionally, sure is may be in a tug of war...but lets be real...Krystal is still at the early stages of building a career and she is in one of the best companies to push her in that limelight more. like any working person, you suck it up and deal with the catty/gossipy people the best way you can. also considering how big SM is, and how a lot of her schedule doesn't happen at HQ...i think she can handle it. like you said, in the end its a business where profit and money are the decision makers...and this fits both SM and Krystal.

I came to say this. For me it's not only that sm wouldn't let her go, it's also that she doesn't want to leave. She seems to be close to the other f(x) members. If Krystal leaves or if f(x) disband it won't be because of jessicagate but because of all the problems they already have.
Seriously I don't see why she should leave her company just to be with her sister. And to do what? Jessica has her fashion brand in mind but Krystal... She seems to be interested in dramas so she needs to be in a Korean agency, whereas Jessica seems to be in Hongkong most of the time.

it always baffles me when Krystal gets dragged into Jessicagate by fans. they are two different people. sure they are close and sisters, but they are two different people with different relationships within the company, with different overall goals and different paths.

Krystal is with a good company to get her what she wants. and even though fx has been around for a while, they haven't been the darlins to give her a high profile in the entertainment industry and the freedom that comes with it...she still needs to be attached to a strong company.
