Japanese Film “Love Letter” to Be Remade into Korean Drama

Japanese film “Love Letter” will be remade into a Korean drama.

The film, which was a box office hit when it opened in Korea and became the tenth highest-grossing film of that year in Korea, will be remade into a Korean drama by the team behind “My Love from the Stars.”

Media outlet Munhwa Ilbo reported on January 27 that HB Entertainment will be producing the drama, while Japanese entertainment agency Amuse will be also collaborating in producing the drama.

An industry insider told the media outlet that “Since ‘Love Letter’ has yet to be made into a drama, this drama will be getting a lot of attention in Japan as well.”

The melodrama film tells the story of a woman who starts to send letters to the old address of her dead fiance, to actually start receiving responses.

The drama remake is expected to premiere in the second half of this year.

I don't mind a remake and this is making me excited. But pleaseeeee cast great actresses and actor for Fujii Itsuki(s) (and also Hiroko). If the remake being done well, I'll be so happy and excited to watch it!!! :D

I kind of mind a remake but tbh Korea has a history of royally messing up these Japanese dramas and always miss the point in light of fluffy aspects. I have yet to see a remake that has changed my mind. But I won't completely shoot it down.

I would love to see Korean remake of Summer Snow but they probably will mess up that drama real bad. However, with the right script and actors, it could probably be great. I was skeptical when they remade Fated to Love You but the drama was really great so Koreans could actually remake amazing love stories with the right scriptwriter. :D

I'm not a huge romance fan either but some romance stories really stay deep in your heart. Have you tried watching 'A Moment to Remember'? Now, thats a great love story.

No makjang but definitely very sad. One of my fave love story ever. So beautifully told and heartbreaking. If I'm in the mood of watching love story, I will rewatch that movie of Cold Mountain lol. :D

oooooh I've heard of this movie. I heard it's one of the greatest and bittersweet Japanese films. I've never watched it though. i wonder who's gonna play this!

so, I usually have seen the Japanese originals already for recent Korean remakes (Liar Game, Nodame Cantabile, Playful Kiss, etc.) but this time, I am going to watch the Korean version first and see how I'll like/dislike it.

I remember bawling my eyes out while watching this movie. I am not sure Korea could do a remake that at least can be on par with the original movie though.
