The Kanye West Creative Team will establish a joint-stock company, 10-Jones, in Korea.

Malik Yusef Jones, producer for Grammy Award winning artists such as Kanye West, Rihanna, and Jay-Z, will be the company’s CEO.

The company comprises of three divisions: brand, agency, and entertainment, and each division will be headed by the Kanye West Creative Team. The team’s main producer, Malik Yusef Jones, was looking into the Korean market when he received an offer from an associate in Korea to establish a company in the country.

Members of the Kanye West Creative Team, who have contracts with big labels such as Cash Money Records, Def Jam, and Roc-a-Fella, will be working the agency division.

The 10-Jones brand will be launched in the second half of 2015, and designers from the Creative Team are already working on brand products.

Malik Yusef Jones is researching the Korean music industry and hopes to create synergy between his company and the Asian idols. He is also in the process of creating collaborations between Korean artists and other artists from abroad, hoping to infiltrate not only the Korean music scene, but also music industries abroad.

I wonder how it will go considering the xenophobia in Korea and Kanye's constant cry about racism.

Considering how big multinational record companies have failed to get much of space on Korean market I doubt music side will be a big success. Like maybe writing songs for Korean artists under other companies might work out and some collabs, but if they try to debut their own new artists they'll be in trouble 'cause lack of connections and lack of ready built fanbase, plus obviously lack of understanding of the local culture.

What comes to design products like clothing lines etc. maybe they will have more chance there, but still it might be pretty hard considering how much power Korea's own big companies have. So if they step on wrong foot they might find it very hard to do business in Korea.

Anyhow I'm guessing that someone has over sold Korea's market potential for Kanye and he will end up losing money. But good luck for his team anyway!

(TBH Jay Park had the best drama filled exit, just less legal drama, but much more delicious fan drama.)

I feel like when big name Americans get involved with Asian acts, it is so half-assed (like IDK if it they are just doing it for the money and don't feel like they have to put effort in?). I.e. BoA's Eat You Up American MV (the blonde wig scenes, smh), the choreo for Double and Amuro Namie's BLACK DIAMOND MV (Namie doesn't even use the original choreo during concerts, it's so bad), Ayyy Girl. I guess the only exception I can think of is Wonder Girls' Be My Baby choreo, which was pretty decent.

Not only in Asia. They also sold filler songs to European singers which were supposed to be the next hit but failed.

The most interesting part of this: hoping to infiltrate not only the Korean music scene, but also music industries abroad. An American artist trying to use the Hallyu wave as a springboard into Asia? I'm intrigued.

Speaking of Namjoon/American rapper interactions.

I just figured out today that he tweeted Strange Music Inc (the label of Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko) about how they used their song in their gayo intro/trailer with a link. And the label followed back, tweeted the video and was "whoa look at this dance!" and even left a comment on the official video like "thanks to all the new fans who saw BTS's dance and came to listen"

It was super sweet of them. (whoever is running the twitter and youtube, probably not both of them but still)
