Shoot My Heart is a coming-of-age comedy that stars Lee Min-ki (For the Emperor) and Yeo Jin-gu (Hwa-yi) as roomies at a mental hospital who form a quirky friendship and help each other in a big escape plan, healing each other’s wounds in the process.

Shoot My Heart is based on an award-winning novel and stars Lee Min-ki as a chaebol heir who finds himself imprisoned in a psychiatric ward one day without warning, without reason. It’s a scheme to cut him out of the family inheritance, but he’s powerless to do anything about it, and spends his days slowly growing mad because he isn’t mad. He’s singularly obsessed with escaping, for obvious reasons, and is described as a “ticking time bomb.”

Yeo Jin-gu, on the other hand, is the “model patient,” who quietly goes about his business and follows all the rules. He’s been in and out of mental hospitals for six years, following his mother’s suicide. He’s a skittish young man whose first instinct in any situation is to hide, but when he gets paired with Lee Min-ki as roommates, his peaceful life gets turned upside-down.

Lee Min-ki’s boisterous character takes an immediate liking to his new roommate, calling him Miss Lee and getting him to bond with the rest of the hospital’s residents (Kim Jung-tae, Kim Ki-chun, Shin Gu), much to Yeo Jin-gu’s ire.

But they develop a genuine friendship, and they hatch an escape plan to reclaim their lost identities and their youth. The movie is about a healing bromance between a sane person who appears crazy (Lee Min-ki) and a crazy person who appears sane (Yeo Jin-gu), and their humorous approach to dealing with gut-wrenching pain.

i've been in love with Min Ki since Shut Up Flower Boy Band. I wish he'd do dramas but films really seem his forte and passion. He's darling in everything and I'm glad I get to see his face even while he's in the army.

I haven't seen anything with yeo jin goo other than his role as young kim soo hyun in METS but i'm ready for him to dazzle me. This film looks delightful and I wish I could see it now instead of waiting 9 months for English subs

I'm excited for this! I love lee min ki and always have a soft spot for yeo jin goo. This looks like a movie where I will bawl my eyes out at the end(korean movies are always like this, I need to watch them alone)

What is your favourite korean movie Omona? any recommendation?

I watched most of the movies. They were good :)

A boy in my class recommended me A Frozen Flower but I didn't take him seriously because I thought he was just joking by asking me to watch 'porn' lol. Guess I will watch it later alone in my room haha.

I haven't watch Tazza. Should I watch both or just go with TOP? I am not that interested in Yoochun but people said good things about Sea Fog, gonna watch it later too. Thanks!

I only have (somewhat) old Korean movies as favourites and the top 3 are - Il Mare, Daisy and The Way Home (with chibi Yoo Seung Ho). Oldboy is great, but I am not sure if I'd place it as fav since my mind was badly scarred by it haha.

The only recent Korean movie that I've watched with (Indonesian) sub was Whistle Blower (http://subscene.com/subtitles/whistle-blower) (couldn't find English sub and luckily even tho not fluent, I can understand Indonesian Malay quite well kkk). My Yoo Yeon Seok bias aside, I think it is a pretty interesting movie. It was based on the stem cell cloning fraud scandal back then in 2005. The movie was surprisingly fast paced and entertaining, despite of the heavy subject it was tackling. I love the chemistry between Park Hae Il and Song Ha Yoon as a team and they are so fun to watch. Yoo Yeon Seok and Ryu Hyun Kyung on the other hand were in charge of the heavier emotion department and I love them too. And Lee Kyoung Young aced his portayal as the bad guy who doesn't seem like one - fraud professor. Sure the movie is not all that spectacular, and could've explore a lot more potentials than it did, but I personally really like it.

I watched Oldboy when I was 15. My mind was tainted ever since. But the good thing is, I made a review about the film as my oral assessment, the teacher was so impressed that she recommended me to join the school's debate team haha it was so random.

wow that Whistle Blower sounds interesting. Luckily I am used to Indonesian sub. Pirate dvds sold here always come with bad quality Indonesian subs(bloody hell = hell berdarah, wtf?). Thanks btw!

Man from nowhere (or the Korean title: Ahjussi ) is a movie often said to be overrated, but I love it and it's one of my go-to-recs :)

I always think that Lee minki is underrated by the international fans, so I was surprised when a lot of omoniansvoted for him in the bias games here.
I miss him in dramas too, like what was his last drama lead role? Dalja's Spring?

I think so. :/ That's one of my fav kdramas. He definitely seems underrated or maybe since no one talks about him, everyone assumes no one cares about him, but people do care it's just since no one talks about him he's never brought up... (and he never does anything outside of work to get into news).

Aside from his acting and music, I think he has a nice personality. Seems like a genuine casual guy celebrity as oppose to stars that pretend to be casual to maintain an attractive humble/modest appeal.
