i didn't think it was possible, but this kid, this made me love him more. so many interesting things came up- the camera fright (it really makes a lot of sense) and all the talk surrounding his public image were particularly interesting to me.

ngl, my heart kinda breaks a little when Minkyung said he'll be easily hurt hearing harsh comments, right after they showed the part he was reading them on the laptop :'( he was keeping a straight face but teared up in the end anyway ;__; this does show Jonghyun's true self in a way, tbh I've always lol-ed at the fact he cries so easily but yea... after watching this and finding out how sensitive he is and the fact that he's so fragile-looking around his solo promos makes me wanna put a comfy blanket around him and give him a warm cup of tea or something

That was my favorite part tbh. I remember seeing people on tumblr saying that Taemin was ungrateful because Jjong supported him a lot during his solo promotions but he wasn't supporting him back but people forget that Taemin doesn't have a social media account. How were they so sure that he wasn't supporting him on private? I think the part when he was defensive shows that he definitely cares about Jjong and that they're pretty close irl and it's not all ~fanservice~.
And yeah, it breaks my heart that he doesn't only have to read harsh comments about him as an artist, but also about his body and appearance. I'm seriously disgusted at the amount of people implying he has an eating disorder lately.

Taemin and Jjong's friendship is something that never ceases to make me 'awwww' and this is definitely one of those moments. Despite comments people might make about him, I love that Taemin is supporting his friend and fellow member and that you can see how much he means it. Watching this part reminded me of the "Mean Tweets" segment that appears on a popular late night show here in the US, where celebrities read and react to mean tweets about them on the show. It's supposed to encourage people to realize that their words have real consequences for the people they write them about, and seeing how effected Jjong is by what is being said about him, when he hasn't done anything to deserve it, breaks my heart.

Ugh, at those quotes. Love them, especially the ones regarding notions of fairness and being judged. One thing I really respect about him is that when he voices personal frustrations, it's always within a wider perspective and context. It's rarely self-centered like "I'm the only one with this problem, wahhhH!" but there's always a clear understanding of how others, celebrity or not, are similarly or even more burdened by those particular circumstances. It just demonstrates how insightful and empathetic this kid can be and I just, ugh ;_____;

as a fan who has a little love/hate relationship with jonghyun this just didn't help me at all TTTTT

yes he's overdoing things a lot of the time and is being too much..it annoys me. on the other hand...yes he is a sensitive and very honest person and i love that. it's times like these i wish he would slow down and take it down a notch? like not...pretend to be someone he's not...just be someone who can take care of himself better and not overdo it? be it with health-related things or on stage. he'd be so much better than he already is imo. altho i acknowledge his over-doing self is kinda endearing..but yh i hope he calms down with age~ :3

I don't see how he's "overdoing" things anymore tbh. Maybe a couple years ago he was kinda like that, but he's definitely toned down A LOT over the years. No offense, but I find annoying that people still cling to that "cocky" or "attention whore" stage persona to insult him when it's been years since he doesn't act like that. He sounds very relaxed and natural in most of interviews so idg people STILL clinging to that 2010 "over the top" image. It's no different from people still clinging to Key's "diva" image or Onew's "tofu leader" image. They all dropped that shit long ago.

THIS is how I found my husband, is what I'll tell my kids....lol. Seriously though, he's quite sweet and insightful. It's not very often I get a genuine good vibe about someone. He brings about a sense of trust in me, since we share common grounds in thoughts, but surprising to me, in behavior as well. It's always great when an artist can give his/her audience a sense of relationship between them, despite the distance, because it allows the audience to grow. If that makes sense.

"Jamong" is a cute nickname. Grapefruit is disgusting though. It should only be used as a scent in cleaning products and not for human consumption.

"Approval over understanding" was interesting. I think I feel the opposite way. You don't have to approve of or agree with me, but I do want you to understand where I'm coming from. Unless the meaning is different untranslated.

I liked this a lot but I found the difference in his demeanor a tad jarring lol. I was like... is he tired or something?? Further confirms he really uses the performative aspect of idol-hood as a kind of armor.

Would love to see more shows like this as well as Sketchbook instead of crappy variety shows tbh.

That was really nicely done. I haven't watched many of these 4TS interviews, only part of Zico's and Taemin's iirc.

I didn't think it was possible for me to stan for him more, but yup. He seems like such an interesting person. I would without a doubt love a friend like him. I admire his drive and wish I could be as dedicated to parts of my life, as he is to his music.

I'm really looking forward to hearing more from him in the future.

This was a good watch. I found the part about his camera phobia most interesting as it put a lot of his behavior on shows in perspective. It's not the 1st time Jjong mentioned having a camera phobia & tbh while I didn't think he was lying I admit it struck me as odd cuz he's pretty outgoing on shows but then it's good to remember ppl deal with their fears & issues in different ways. While ppl like Taemin shy away from the camera & stuff Jjong puts on a big show & talks a lot, it's his way of dealing with his cam phobia (Tho I think he's tone down a lot over the years making think he gotten better control over the years)

Mte. People accuse Taemin of being boring or acting fake/hiding something only because he's shy, and Jonghyun of being an attention whore and overdoing things but they forget that everyone deals with their phobias in a different way. I've known people who had pretended to be very easy going and happy all the time and when you know them better you realize that they were actually pretty introverted and that was only a way to "socialize" or something. I feel that Jjong is exactly that kind of person but people are always mocking him and not understanding his feelings at all.
And like you said, it's been a long time since he hasn't acted "over the top". Just look at this promo period. His speeches everytime he won were so relaxed and natural, and he's been showing a more matured and calmed attitude, to the point that some people wonder if he's feeling well. So idg why some people are saying he's "overdoing" things when it has been the opposite tbh. He just can never win. When he acts hyped and cheerful he's an attention whore who's overdoing things and when he's finally acting more mature and relaxed: "is he ill or something"? Just let him the fuck alone for once.

That was more interesting than I thought it'd be. The stuff they couldn't say outright 'cause of idol image ('feeling of unrequited love... though of course I'm not interested in dating yet') they still managed to imply by putting Fortune Cookie at the end, lol.

I think it'd be hard to be truly close to someone like Jonghyun, 'cause you'd have to always worry about whether you were doing something that bothered him (which he would of course never tell you).

I can relate to his way of changing himself around different types of people. I feel bad that he has to try so hard to be likeable. It seems like being a part of SMent makes a lot of the SM artists really paranoid about their image and sensitive to hater comments. I see a lot of that in EXO too

I think everyone to an extent does this tbh. Almost no one acts the same in front of their lover as they do their boss or close friends or their mom., It's all a part of societal expectations really ofc some jobs offer more leeway when it comes to one's mask slipping then others unfortunately "idol" isn't one of them since "likability" is a big factor in making their livelihood work...
