Finally, I catch FFA and can introduce myself properly. I'm follow k-pop since spring, came through k-beauty, investigating why the brands place images of weirdly looking guys on my beauty products and stay for all the juicy scandals :) I'm not follow anyone particularly I just like some songs or performance, generally I'm more into industry workings than final product, and I like atmosphere here on Omona.

Has anyone here watched Modern Farmer? I'm on episode 2 and I can't tell if its so stupid that it circles back to being hilarious or just plainly hilarious lol So far I'm liking it, haven't laugh out loud to a Kdrama like this in awhile, reminds me of Jdrama slapstick
I'm curious... Who comes up with fan chants? I'm always so surprised that after a song has been out for less than a week that there is already a specific fan chant for the song. Is there a memo that goes out?
On the shopping front, I'm pretty sure I've spent about $400 on clothes from J. Crew this month. But I got a 100% silk shirt for like $17 so I stocked up and got three. And then got more shirts, 4 pairs of pants, 3 scarves and 3 hats... I have a personal shopper there who hooks me up so my wallet doesn't hate me as much as it could. That said if anyone here likes to shop at J. Crew as much as I do, let me know, I will hook you up. My personal shopper is all kinds of magical.
And those living in the tri-state/northeast area, stay warm. This weekends gonna be hell.
I think like, the leaders of the fan groups decide it together, with some help from other fans obviously, then they share the chant online. I know sometimes groups will come up with their own fan chants, DGNA did that once.
Okay I swear to god, when I'm at home I have perfect table manners, but whenever I go out I feel like I eat like a toddler. An exaggeration obviously, but seriously... I think maybe I'm just being self conscious in public, eating out alone doesn't help either.
I once got noodles on my forehead on a first date, so you're not alone. I feel like I need to move somewhere where the table manners are slightly relaxed, haha.
So i started watching this thai drama called Hormones in order to distract me from valid love and now i'm just so addicted to it. it's such a mess but so good at the same time? And it covers a lot of serious issues you would never see in any kdrama. it's just a lot of fun to watch i highly recommend it if you need a boost (oh and i will add that the whole cast is soo good looking). I've loved thai romcoms from before but was never a fan of anything else until this drama.
Other than that, my mommy is coming back home tomorrow and i miss her so much.
Oooh I've watched a couple thai dramas before and really like them... well, most of them. I really like the romantic comedy ones, it's just the revenge type ones that I don't like at all.

if you're in/out of college, are are/did you major in? and why did you pick that major? what are you doing now?
i'm in my second semester of freshmen year and i still have little idea of what i want to do. ;___; i've thought about math education, comparative cultural studies with a museum studies minor, accounting, something in hospitality, and other things i can't think of right now. i know i still have until the end of sophomore year to decide, but still...
3rd year linguistics students because i have a big interest in languages and how they work plus learning languages is the only thing i excel at (altho linguistics has nothing to do with learning languages =/), i'm average or below average at everything else lmao. But i love this major despite how difficult it gets and how annoying the ppl are. The major also allows me to easily work anywhere i want in the world and since i want to travel it's pretty much perfect for me.
I should use the fact that I'm only following two dramas that are currently airing (healer and king's face) to read and put my dissertation on track, but NO... here I am, looking for other things to watch.

I am so EXCITED for Vikings, I can hardly wait for it to come back. I'm hoping Aslaug gets a good storyline this season, of course I know the chances of that are slim, but a girl can dream.
Also, I'm really happy George Blagden got the part of Louis XIV in the upcoming Versailles because he's great in Vikings... but at the same time... I'm a bit like, it's done by a French station... why wouldn't they use French actors and why are they filming it in English?
And on a more unrelated note, anyone ever get a bit fed up with like Robert Pattinson/Paul Wesley style humor, because like up to a certain point it's like yeah it's not good writing and it's good that we can be self aware and you know, admit that and make fun of ourselves. On the other hand, I feel like they do it so much that it's a bit like "oh let's talk shit about the franchise that made us relevant" and it's not cute or funny at all.

I just finished uni and currently looking for a job. But I also have a lot of spare time now. SO the past few weeks I've watched all of Reply 1997 and Reply 1994. I loved Reply 1997 and I know a lot of people hated Reply 1994... but I didn't really have any issues with it. The only issue I had was sometimes each episode was like 1h40 minutes and the conversations always went on tangents.. but the show had a lot of heart.

is anyone fasinated by how cfs work in the korean industry. i fell they sponsor and shoot commercials for whatever products makes them money and dont discriminate when it comes to what they are advertising. not a bad thing people need to make money but in the us celebrities only sponsor well known brands and dont involve themselves in commercials for everyday things like say snacks and beverages but when you look at korean commercials its mostly well known celebrities. also dont us celebs get backlash if they support problematic products or things that dont fit with their image yet korean celebs endorse almost everything sometimes the same product mafe by different companies (ramen, soju) the public doesnt mind. this is something ive been thinking about and noticing lol i was waiting for the next ffaf to see if anyone had the same thoughts
US celebs advertise food too; pizza, coke, restaurant chains, but I think it's a little less noticeable because it's not continuous. They make one commercial and that stays in circulation for quite a while.
I went to a basketball game for the first time in a long time and spent the whole time drinking and eating and looking for celebrities. I'm such a waste of a ticket, my friends never learn.
Has anyone else watched The Internet's Own Boy? Its seriously one of those documentaries you have to watch 20 minutes at a time because its just too sad and too terrifying
So as I was listening to lizzy's solo today, I began to think about some things after school related. It's obvious that orange caramel has a very distinct sound and image, and after school also has a specific image... but what about musically? I mean I've loved all the title songs they've put out individually, but when you think about them all collectively, I feel like I'm missing what after school really is music-wise. Can someone help me out? maybe I'm just missing it. 'Ah' and 'Diva' had the same kind of vibe, but then 'Because of You' was completely different. 'Bang!' kind of goes back to 'Ah' vibes, but then that was shattered by 'Shampoo' and I don't even want to talk about AS red and AS blue. 'Flashback' was great and gave them a chance to show off their sexy again, but the sound of it was still different from everything else they've done... and 'First Love' was different, too. I feel like I don't know what to expect from After School musically, but it'll be interesting to see what them come out with when (if?) they comeback.
i feel like maybe save for first love they always sound a bit behind the times, though not in a bad way. that by default makes me think of jpop rather than kpop, again, not in a bad way. they sound old-school...? honestly that's all i can think of when it comes to common themes with them if we're talking purely music.
Has someone watched Valid Love ep. 16? I just finished it and I'm a mess. I cried so many times. The mother's dementia hit me hard. At the end of the episode I was remembering when I went to visit my grandmother and the look she had in her face when she looked at me. She seemed so scared to having someone she didn't know by her side My feelings are now all over the place.
That shit was too real :/ Cried my eyes out tbh. The realistic depiction of the ableist responses from other characters was also difficult to watch. I like that they're not using Hee-tae's mother's condition in an exploitative way, everything is done with a lot of sensitivity. You can tell the people who are working on this drama legitimately care about this story and aren't throwing sensationalized stuff in just for the ratings (and lbr, they could've easily achieved that if the drama were solely about Kim Joon & Il Ri).
