It has belatedly been reported that The Boss’ Mika received surgery after experiencing an ear infection (otitis media) that lead to intermittent facial paralysis.

On January 16, The Boss’ agency, Poom Entertainment, revealed that Mika has continued to fight a middle ear infection that resulted in facial paralysis at one point. It is said that Mika underwent surgery on January 8.

For a long time, The Boss member suffered from pain and bleeding from his ear due to a ball-shaped tissue that formed in the middle of his ear. Despite the pain and symptoms of facial paralysis, Mika endured and finished up group promotions until the end.

An agency rep explained, “The surgery was completed successfully and he is currently in the middle of recovering. He will take time off to recover before working on the next album productions.”

I'm glad that got treated, that sounds horrifying and I'm honestly so impressed he was able to do promotions in that condition .-.

I hate how it's considered professional to work in these conditions. Being professional is taking care of your health so you can be productive and your best self. One of my korean friends ended up in the hospital from STUDYING too much. I didn't even know that was possible.
It just makes me worry, it's unhealthy in more ways than the obvious physical one

Meep. I wish it wasn't such a taboo for an idol to go get something checked out at the doctors and then get treated.

holy crap i had a severe version of this same ear infection last month (my ear doctor specifically says "you don't just have otitis media, you have ACUTE otitis media" welp :() and i am so very glad that i didn't get facial paralysis, that sounds terrifying, poor thing :( it's still not entirely better--i still get pain in my inner ear often ;_; i went on antibiotics i was allergic to and ended up in a&e, which is not fun at all....
i hope he was able to have it fixed. he's better off than i am.
