Big Bang’s T.O.P Wins Visual Culture Award from ‘Prudential Eye Awards’

Big Bang’s T.O.P has gained recognition for his artistic talents by winning the Visual Culture Award from the Prudential Eye Awards.

YG Entertainment revealed, “T.O.P received the Visual Culture Award from Prudential Eye Awards which took place on January 20 at the Sands Theatre in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.”

The Prudential Eye Awards is an award ceremony co-hosted by Saatchi Gallery, Parallel Contemporary Art and Prudential to discover and promote talented, emerging artists across Asia.

At the award ceremony, awards have been given out to artists in 13 fields, including digital/video, sculpture, installation, photography and more.

T.O.P has shown his interest in the fields of furniture design, architecture and art and has continued his study. Starting March, he will be attending the 2015 Prudential Singapore Eye exhibition taking place in the Art Science Museum in Marina Bay Sands as the art curator.

T.O.P arrived in Singapore on January 19 after completing Big Bang’s five dome tour in Japan. He will be staying there until January 22 to carry out schedules, including meeting with the art affiliates, attending exhibitions and more.

nothing, it's basically a thank-you for hyping traditional art so much with young people and the inevitable fortune in exhibit tickets they're making from fans coming to try and see him lol. also the article says he's going to be curating some of it so they must be impressed with his collection(s).

The "Visual Culture" award is separated from the "artist" awards, and is apparently new -- I couldn't find an explanation on their site of what it was, though, other than "selected by a special panel".

IDK, way to get a popular celebrity associated with the awards, and therefore more press? He seems to be a somewhat prominent collector, at least, and showcased some of that in Doom Dada....
