Kim So Eun Says There′s No Possibility of Her Becoming a Real Couple with Song Jae Rim

Kim So Eun brought up Song Jae Lim, who is currently appearing as her on-screen husband on We Got Married.

On January 16, Sina.com held an interview with Kim So Eun, who has been gathering a lot of popularity in China with MBC’s We Got Married. After debuting with the 2005 drama Sisters of the Sea, Kim So Eun starred in the dramas Boys Over Flowers, The King’s Doctor, Liar Game and more, building her filmography as an actress.

Revealing what has changed since she started appearing on We Got Married, Kim So Eun said, “Many people treat me more comfortably compared to before. They used to not say anything even when I passed by, but since I do a variety show now, many people recognize me and come up to me more easily, so that’s become a huge gain for me.”

About her on-screen husband, Song Jae Lim, Kim So Eun said, “He is a very cheerful and bright person. I think that’s why I was able to treat him comfortably while filming and get close quickly.”

The reporter then asked, “Is there any possibility for you to start dating Song Jae Lim in real life?”

Kim So Eun responded, “That will definitely not happen and I also think that it’s impossible. We film once every two weeks, and when we’re not filming, we’re too busy to contact each other. I think it will be very difficult on the personal level (to start feeling something for each other).”

But she agreed to do a show about making people think she is with someone. Even if people know is an act, you try to create an illusion. I'm not saying she should say she likes him or wants to be with him when is not true, but her words were...I don't know how to say it, too real? She could just said that they don't have much contact outside the show, so it will be difficult, but "That will definitely not happen and I also think that it’s impossible" is too much.
And I said this as someone who watches WGM a lot, and I never thought the couples were real or could be real.

I don't know why I've taken it upon myself to defend So Eun...I'm a Jae Rim fan to start with but have really come to appreciate So Eun and her blunt non ayego style. Jae Rim would be lucky to have her. No one gave a crap about him before he was paired with So Eun...and if you watch the show she has become more and more like Jae Rim spouting the cheesy lines right back to him. A recent line from her? He asked what her favourite dish was in Turkey and she replied she would make a dish out of him....he spit out his food at that one....

She wouldn't have gotten as much flack if she'd said it's unlikely because at least then there's some possibility (i.e. stakes) for WGM watchers. She's not wrong for being honest but she's in the entertainment industry and honesty(especially in this case) isn't necessarily the most sought after trait. A comment like hers is basically a countdown for when the couple leaves the show.

Lol, I think I agree with the Netizens for once, although not to their extent.
Perhaps if she phrased it more wisely and vaguely, it would have been better.

Her words basically say that both of them are straight up acting in a "reality" show. Thus her actions and interactions with him are all 100% fake.
Other than the delusional viewers, everyone knows that WGM is scripted, just not heavily scripted as it would be for a drama. Honestly, I see the show more of: "I will put two of you in a room, now play nice and be friends" instead of anything romantic.

She should have said something like "He's so different from my type, I don't know if I would ever date him in real life". Something that holds no "definite" statement.

ppl in WGM don't meet up outside the show bcuz they get too use to each other, i remember Gain telling that to Key when he did WGM. Maybe rather than a romcom, the better analogy for WGM is like a magic show. People go, they see the tricks, they know it's a trick but it's still fun and amazing. What KSE in her poor naive honesty did, was pull the cover off the sword box in the middle of the show and reveal the midget wiggling his legs inside. No one wants to see that. Even the people who knew it was fake.
