Lee Seung Gi Prefers a Stable Relationship as Compared to Push & Pull

What is Lee Seung Gi’s love life like in real life?

On January 12, Lee Seung Gi held an interview for the film Today’s Love at a café in Samcheong-dong and shared his thoughts on dating.

In the film, Lee Seung Gi acted as Jun Su, who stays by his first love of 18 years and still meets other girls, but always gets dumped in the end. To Jun Su, Hyun Woo (Moon Chae Won) is a friend of 18 years and his crush. He secretly likes her for 18 years and stays by her side as a friend. Being loved by Jun Su, Hyun Woo is an easygoing girl who swears and dances freely in front of him. She even acts violently when she’s drunk.

What does Lee Seung Gi think of Hyun Woo as his possible girlfriend? Lee Seung Gi refused. The reason was simple. “I don’t want to date a girl who acts violently when she’s drunk.”

Lee Seung Gi said, smiling, “I don’t have any other reason. Just by the fact that she acts violently, I don’t want to see her as my potential girlfriend."

When asked, “Can’t it be cute when a girl acts violent out of drunkenness?” Lee Seung Gi answered, “But Hyun Woo’s drunken acts of violence in the movie goes over the line of being cute.”

Lee Seung Gi also shared his thoughts on dating. When it comes to relationships, Lee Seung Gi said that he doesn’t like doing the push-and-pull for too long before starting a relationship.

He said, “I don’t like unstable relationships very much. I prefer a stable relationship. I think doing too much of the push-and-pull makes one lose the feeling of love.”

About Moon Chae Won, who showed a fantastic on-screen chemistry with him, Lee Seung Gi said, “I think we both tried hard. Moon Chae Won did such a great job at acting. It felt comfortable acting with her, maybe because we’ve acted together once before. I didn’t have anything to watch out for or argue about while acting. We were both considerate of each other, so we could both act comfortably.”

He continued, “Many people praised my couple acting with Moon Chae Won in the film. What better praise can an actor ask for in a romantic comedy film?”

Meanwhile, Today’s Love by director Park Jin Pyo is a romance film starring Lee Seung Gi and Moon Chae Won depicting the push and pull relationships between men and women. It is set to premiere on January 14.

Lee Seung Gi shared his thoughts on the friendship between men and women.

When asked, “Do you think that men and women can be just friends?” Lee Seung Gi answered, “I used to think that it’s impossible but now I think differently."

He continued, “I didn’t believe in the friendship between men and women. But as I worked, my thoughts began to change. Moon Chae Won and Han Hyo Joo, whom I’ve acted with, are good friends of mine. I think if you meet through work, it’s possible to be friends. I also think it’s possible to have friends of the opposite gender to share your worries with.”

When asked if he can have a crush on someone for 18 years like in the film, Lee Seung Gi said, “I sympathize with the character named Jun Su. I think it would be very hard to like one girl for 18 years. Realistically, I think I will more likely give up. But it wasn’t easy for Jun Su to give up, that’s why he kept being around Hyun Woo (Moon Chae Won). But at the same time, he meets new people. I think that’s what makes it realistic.”

Although he sympathized with Jun Su, Lee Seung Gi shared, “Personally, I think it would be difficult for me to have a crush on someone for 18 years. I’m the type that give up when I get rejected.”

Meanwhile, Today’s Love by director Park Jin Pyo is a romance film starring Lee Seung Gi and Moon Chae Won depicting the push and pull relationships between today′s men and women. It is set to premiere on January 14.

Because they work under the assumption that you cannot be super close to a person of the gender you're attracted to without falling in love with them. This amuses me greatly because I'm bi, so what, should I have no friends whatsoever? It's just lame imo.

It's usually guys who've been raised to think of gender in really binary, oppositional ways. Women are closer to being a different species than fellow human beings.

Oh, of course, that thinking can affect everyone. And patriarchy kinda rests on not just men but women buying into gendered assumptions.

I think it's often men that feel this way more than women and I don't know why. If I catch my guy friends checking me out it feels like a gross betrayal of trust.

Also, I can never tell if these male celebs actually like Yoona anymore since she's just become the default 'ideal type' answer.

I liked everything he said....although it's disappointing he used to think men and women couldn't really be friends, but Korea is a more socially conservative place when it comes to gender (and hey, lots of American media, especially dreadful rom-coms, still peddle that cliche, so..) - in any case, I'm glad he's come around.

I'm so excited for this movie. I lovelovelove both him and Chaewon, and because I'm a huge fan of Jung Joon Young, I really want to see what he does here. I hope it gets on the internet, and subbed, fairly quickly.

IA with this. I'm not a relationship person, but when I do, I want it to be a stable, comfortable one. Life gives you enough shit to look for more in your romantic relationships tbh.

Also I'm glad he changed his mind regarding male/female friendships. I think it's such an stupid misconception. I'm glad my male friends do not think like that! And well, I have had friends both male and female that have fallen for me, and I have fallen for a friend before too, but I do not think that invalidates the fact that pure friendship is also possible.
