Plot
SPY is based on the Israeli drama The Gordin Cell and modified to fit the North/South Korea relations.
The fictional story begins after the execution of real-life North Korean general Jang Sung-taek. One day an order comes down from North Korea, reactivating erstwhile spy Park Hye-rim who has spent decades in South Korea as an ordinary housewife. She is given the mission to turn and bring in her own son, Kim Seonu. Cool-headed, quick-witted genius Seonu is an information analyst on North Korea working for the NIS. His girlfriend Yoon-jin is a tour guide for Chinese tourists who cannot speak Chinese, and they fell in love when Seonu helped her translate. Hye-rim is suddenly forced to choose between her son and country, and risks her life to see the choice through.

Main Characters

Kim Seonu (Kim Jae-joong) - NIS North Korean information analyst
In front of his parents, he hides as a normal public official, but in fact, he is a genius analyst who has outstanding ability in information analysis. He always takes care of his family, his girlfriend and his colleagues with a warm heart and maturity.

Park Hye-rim (Bae Jong-ok) - Seonu's mother; A former spy

The instinct of a spy is still left in her. Like an obsessive-compulsive disorder patient, she is a little wary of people around her and tries to make everything in her family perfect. However, she cherishes and loves her son and her family more than anyone.

Hwang Ki-chul (Yoo Oh-sung) - North Korean agent

Agent who comes to reorganize the spy line in South Korea but he does not work by himself. He just picks the people who become the pawns in his chessboard. This time the sacrificial lamb of his intelligent play is the peaceful and happy family of Hye-rim and Seon-woo.

Lee Yoon-jin (Ko Sung-hee) - Seonu's girlfriend

She is an orphan. She is very nice and caring, just like Seonu. Just when she dreams about a happy family with Seonu, she could not have expected that she would face the opposition of Seonu's mother, Hye-rim.

Yeah, everyone's acting is good so far, except for the female lead Go Sung Hee whom I find a bit stiff and I don't really like how she move/ shift her eyebrow when she talk? On and off, she'll shift her eyebrows when she talks? But she does have a nice and soothing voice like what Jaejoong said.

Bae Jong Ok is awesome, Yoo Oh Sung is so good being a badass villain. I'm also proud to say that Jaejoong's acting is rather natural and he has so much more confidence in himself and as Seon Woo. Triangle really boost his confidence. Of course there is still room for improvement but I really think he acted quite well in the first 2 episodes.

The pace of the 1st two episodes is good and seriously, I didn't realise that 100 mins has passed so quickly. I love the chemistry between Seo Woo and his omma and between his appa and omma.

seriously, even with a cast on his arm, blood all over his face, he still looks mighty fine. What an oppa he is, wow *o*

I'm already liking how the drama starts, I just hope not everyone ends up being a spy in this show, that would be a bit too much. Acting is really solid too. Jaejoong is showcasing the immense improvement he made in Triangle and nothing else but good can be said about Bae Jon-ok and Yoo Oh-sung. Gawd, that guy is too good at playing bad to the point I might even like his character lol. A bit iffy about Ko Sunghee though =/ she's a bit awkward?
