Yoo Ah In has donated 100 million won.
Taking 100 million won from profits made through his clothing brand Newkids Nohant, Yoo Ah In recently donated to Beautiful Foundation, opening up the Newkids Yoo Ah In Charity Fund. The fund will be used to aid the Supporting Business for Youth Cultural Activities and tuition fees for university students retiring from the residential care center for adolescents.
The Supporting Business for Youth Cultural Activities is a program that provides opportunities to experience diverse activities for adolescents in culturally estranged environments. The fund will also be used to provide aid for college tuition and educational expenses for the students who attend college while living in or after retiring from residential care centers.
Yoo Ah In launched Newkidz Nohant in May of 2014, joining hands with the clothing brand Nohant. He designed the shirts himself and promoted as its model as well. The money for the charity fund came from the sales profits.
Yoo Ah In stated, “Children in underprivileged groups can’t help but to run the unfair and unequal race on top of the tracks built by the adults. I am trying to provide the opportunity for children to grow without being forced to the dark sides or edges of the society, and instead become adventurous, competitive leading forces of the future.”
Yoo Ah In has continuously shown his interest in providing aid for the adolescents. He donated 77 million won to Beautiful Fund’s campaign in 2012 called ‘I Am Against the Unfair Food Tray of Children.’ He will also be planning and executing aid programs for youth cultural activities through the artist group, Studio Concrete, which he established in 2014.
