From Deja Boo to Neon to Love Belt- He seems to have really found his niche. He seems really comfortable with the neo-soul (to the point where I found myself mentally photoshopping Onew's voice over the R&B ballads like Hallelujah and Mono-drama b/c it seemed to fit better and Jjong seems to be struggling with them; his voice has changed quite a bit and I'm not sure what the issue is)

I really like it, but tbh for now Hallelujah and Deja Boo are still my faves. I thought I'd like Neon and Mono Drama more but damn I am absolutely in love with the former two.

this is an album you need to listen a few times cause it will grow on you I honestly love it, his whole debut in general, but I have to admit most songs give me the feel that they could be amazing and not only good or average if there was a change here and there which would be expected in someone's first album and proves once againg that jonghyun was in charge of the album CRAZY is the best choice for a title track imo, especially after seeing it live, he owns the song NEON is a a perfect exemple of a could be amazing song, there are parts that are heavenly but others that are too stiff, i actually though there was something wrong with my pc at some point because the song is so inconsistent, it is a grower I think MONO-drama is the most ordinary song in the album, not bad just not as different as the others, he sounds great BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT is better edited which is great not much else to say since we had listen to it already HALLELUJAH is the Symptoms ish people wanted but can we talk about the OEH OEH OEH in the back ground? it makes me wanna cry seriously LOVE BELT is nice, some parts the sexy whispering is a little too much but YounHa's voice is gold, my favorite part is when they sing "please girl, you hold me now, i need you, i love you, please girl, you are my love belt hold me hold me hold me" together, jjong said he wrote it after the car accident and that, when listening to the song, people should think about having (or not having) someone to hold them tightly when they are going through rough times All the lyrics for the albuns are so on point, even if his compositions need some improvement his writing is already mastered imo
*the bonus track is a mess, we fans are always here for a self composition but I'm happy he didn't released it digitally
I love Neon but I have to agree with you. I couldn't figure out if it was the same song at one point or if it was transitioning. Maybe he should find someone to handle his beats lol...
Lots of slow songs but I really like it a lot. It's a very solid album even though I'm not sure if it's gonna sell as well as Taemin's album because this is not really the fandom's cup of tea at all, but I'm really happy he's doing the music he really likes and not what SM wants.

Mte @ the boring ballads thing. People are complaining about how his album is not "upbeat" and danceable enough but it could have been worse. I prefer these mid-tempo R&B/jazzy jams that an album full of bland ass OST-ish ballads tbh.
The mini is great music for relaxing/chilling out. 'Halleluyah' and 'Beautiful Tonight' are my favourites. I like 'Crazy' but it really is an odd one out if you hear the album back-to-back.
If this is what happens when SHINee does solos - we get Ace and then Base, imma need Chase, Lace and Space. Pls and ty SM.

I loved hallelujah, beautiful tonight, and mono drama. i wasn't in love w/ love belt before but now im loving it. w/ neon i like the faster part of the song best and im still deciding if i like the whole song or not. i love jonghyun's voice in fortune cookie but i don't like the track. besides this track im obsessed w/ the album.
also loved that the last song was actually something that jonghyun had written and shared before. after listening to the track i watched his performance of it again and omg it's just such a good song.
I think Hallelujah is perfect for him. His voice sounds perfectly and appropriately sensual and emotional. Using that choir really brought the track to a different level. And Jjong singing over them….ugh. BLESS. Boy about to convert this atheist into a believer!

Neon is probably one of my favorite tracks. At first it kind of sounded like a noisy mess, but then I was like lemme put on my headphones so I can all these sounds and it’s actually a really good sound. There are consistent sounds and beats, but they just get different treatments during throughout the course of the song, especially during the breakdown (love how that part kind of ended upwards with this swing-like sound).
He’s doing some interesting things with his voice in MONO-drama, to the point that I thought someone else was singing…hm… but it is definitely one of the easiest tracks to listen to (besides Hallelujah) . I especially like the end, very jamable.
Wish we’d gotten something other than It’s Late since we already heard it 1,000 years ago, but I’ll take this studio version. But damn, couldn’t he have edited out those whistles. But I ain’t gonna complain, cause in exchange we get that chuckle right before that part ends.
The beginning of fortune cookie is really weird, but once he gets into it I love it. May or may not be getting off at him moaning and spelling “fortune cookie.” This boy can spell and that’s all I ask- clearly I’m very easy.

hallelujah is really beautiful. i couldn't pay attention to the song when he performed it because of his god awful hips, but i lovev the chorus!

Beautiful Tonight - I love it soo much. Its everything I want out of this kind of track.
Love Belt - I read somewhere that it was supposed to also be about seat belts....which definitely makes the lyrics more interesting.
