Watch on Gooddrama|Viki|Dramafever
In the early 1980s, there were five friends who ran an illegal broadcasting station.
Back then, the world was much simpler.
It was clear what had to be defended and fought for.
The way to go forth was like a straight line.
But reality destroys ideals.
Time teaches one about betrayal and compromise.
Now, their children have grown up to their twenties.
One of them became an agent who steals the secrets of others at night.
Another is a paparazzi who digs for information about others behind their backs.
In this damned world left behind by their parents,
political and societal justice are just unlucky words to them.
But there is one person who will take them forward. Thanks to him…
These children now start to harbour the same dreams as their parents. A dream to become a real reporter.
But in order to become true reporters, there is a wall that they have to overcome.
This world that their parents have shaped and left behind for them.
Will these children be able to become the real reporters that their parents once dreamed of?
Will they be able to untie the knots of the past and change the world?
“The world messed with us first,” one person among us said.
“No, it is us who have sinned against the world,” yet another person said.
- Hwang Jin Woo, from “Within the Broad-leaved Forest”

Date: 2015-01-09 07:40 pm (UTC)And if I'm still alive after all 20 eps then I guess I can consider myself lucky because this OTP is killing me softly :P
Seriously though this drama makes me feel things... It's been a while that I had a drama I was so looking forward to every week. I like the others I'm watching currently as well but Healer... It's perfect ♥
I especially love how they include the past storyline with the flashbacks because they are cleverly used!
When I saw the preview for next week I had a hard time not to squee (and get weird looks from my mom xD). The candle lit way and the interlocking fingers... Like I said they're killing me softly :P
And while it ads some great tension if Moon Ho finds out first that Bong Soo = Healer I'd rather Young Shin found out first but oh well!
Monday are you here yet?

Date: 2015-01-09 08:18 pm (UTC)I'm expecting angst with young shin thinking that her biological father was murderer by healer's dad, but we know that this is going to give us an even more romantic ending (I HOPE SO. KBS, DON'T DISAPPOINT ME)

Date: 2015-01-09 10:36 pm (UTC)I liked the drama. It's so beautiful (costumes, cinematography, soundtrack).... It was easy for me to root for tahwan because I simply didn't feel anything from jinmo's character. he's a good actor, obviously, but idk.. something didn't work for me.
tbh, after 51 episodes, I still think that nyang loved both of them as a duty. first with her king and then with her emperor. she was loyal to them and built a relationship with respect and devotion. I never felt passion (even in the early episodes, when they were showing us cute moments of her with wang yoo..) and I'm ok with it. for me, empress ki is not about a love triangle, but an epic story about an amazing woman.
if I had to choose an OTP, I'd say nyang + tal tal. not romantically ofc, but their relationship was the healthiest one (if we can say that any relationship of that drama was healthy lol). they respected each other until the end, even when they're on opposed sides. they were honest until the end (AND I'M NOT OVER HIS ENDING)
it was a good experience. I watched in, idk, one week?! LOL so it was a little intense to see episode after episode, but it is because of this that I finished. If I had watched when it was airing, I'd drop in the middle for sure.

Date: 2015-01-09 11:02 pm (UTC)I feel the same way, the drama was absolutely mesmerising with all the sets and costumes and acting and the beautiful music. I absolutely loved Junsu's OST for it. (That's how I started watching it in the first place :D)
I have seen their relationship a bit differently. She had indeed loved the king because of her duty, but with Tahwan, in the end he managed to penterate her heart as well. In the novel, after which the drama's script had been developed (aside from it deriving from real events), her love for him was more emphasised. I think the NyangHwan couple had so much more chemistry than the other couple. The king hadn't moved me much either, so I had been cheering for Tahwan from the very start as well)
It's awesome how you also liked the NyangTal couple. Where it not for Tahwan and the king, this couple would have had so much potential! They really were on the same level, and often on the same wave-length. And there was loads of chemistry between the actors too! I completely understand your feelings about his ending. I seriously cried T_T

Date: 2015-01-09 09:00 pm (UTC)I was expecting someone to find out sooner or later that he's Healer and I'm glad it's Moonho. I still don't fully get the guy and just how great his morals are but I'm looking forward to the clash.
every episode just keeps on getting better and better

Date: 2015-01-11 03:52 am (UTC)Obviously Chang Wook is amazing. I'll probably take on Empress Ki later on, 'cause I've watched most of his drama.
Min Young made me fall in love with her, she is great, and she always has great chemistry with her partners.
I'm loving the story, and what makes me pleased is that you can't really guess the relation with the older generations, who wronged who-how-why. It's slowly revealing with each episode, so that it's exciting.
Anyway, I love the younger cast and they are all so good looking :O Especially, Son Seung Won. I am at loss of words. :O
Overall, the casting was very well done, I'm surprised I often find similarities in younger and older cast.
Now about the characters:
- I hope Moon Ho doesn't turn to full on control freak, because right now I can see the hints of it. I really have absolutely no idea how he will react to Bong Soo being the Healer, and that kinda scares me.
- I don't really understand Chae Yeong's real mum, Myung Hee, how she's living absolutely clueless. What I mean is, she used to be a reporter, she has absolutely no interest in what's going on around her?
- Kang Min Jae is mostly annoying and super angsty lmao, I'm glad she doesn't get much screen time. What was that talk about about her being Moon Shik's sister-in-law.... She has the typical syndrome of second-lead-evil-girlfriend character.
- Jung Hoo talking about his father's suicide really broke my heart, and that scene was amazing.
It's great that more dramas are embracing the issues that are going on in the entertainment industry and try to portray it as real as they can.. Which reminds me of the scene where Min Jae called that poor actress the worst of them all ,for asking for money etc. I wanted to strangle the bitch.
