I'm interested in starting this, but I read some stuff that people are saying about Lee Soo Hyuk's character kind of pressuring/threatening Si Young's character and it being shown as romantic or whatever (typical kdrama stuff I guess).

Is that actually true? I get the impression that it'll be Uhm Tae Woong and Lee Si Young's character anyways, but I get really uncomfortable with bullying/violence/male power over women being portrayed as "sexy." I really like Lee Soo Hyuk, so I'm hoping this isn't the case. Please advise!

Also is Choi Yeo Jin in this a lot? Love her.

Choi Yeojin's character is actually the most interesting of the bunch, I can def. assure you!
I'm only watching to see what'll happen to her as the drama progresses. :P (Can't say much because I don't wanna spoil anything for you...)

Oh man, now you have me worried. Okay maybe I'll check it out just for her then.

I feel like it does have that side to it, but it isn't being romanticized in a meaningless way like in a typical Kdrama. There's meaning to his actions, even if they're often misguided. I personally don't like his character all that much but I appreciate that it's deliberate on the side of the writers, that he's not supposed to be some ideal love interest. The characters' complex motives and their place in each other's imperfect lives is mostly what's at the forefront, not the lovelines.

Okay, that's what I needed to know. If that kind of gross behaviour isn't being romanticized, and he isn't held up as an ideal because of that behaviour, then I may check it out. The women, from what I've gathered from others, seem to be written well or at least given some depth so I was hoping the above wasn't the case. Thank you!

Soo Hyuk has been picking really interesting roles as of late. I just wish Sung Joon, king of intensity, would do the same. Sigh.

tbh i'm way more pissed off with her husband's behavior so far. i wont go into detail cuz spoilers. but yeah whoever said that about soo hyuk's character prob isnt watching the same drama i'm watching. he does have a brusque demeanor but if we're talking about violence....he has committed none but the same cant be said of her husband. that said, i cant say more on my feelings again cuz spoilers. suffice to say tho this isnt about me being some kind of JOON X IL RI shipper. more like i am shipping IL RI X Happiness. and at this point i would prefer she dumped both and flew away like a beautiful butterfly into the sunset. (i am fond of joon, but whether he's the one who can make her happiest. i hae no idea yet. i know who I'D want to shack up with tho hahaha) but that is not how life works lol. and from reading waht the writer said about her drama. its p obv her husband will never truly be out of the picture. but that's not a spoiler since i'm merely basing that by her statements re: hee tae/uhm tae woong. anyway, ultimately you really gotta watch for yourself and make your own decisions. and everyone changes for better and worse from ep 1 to ep 12.
this is super late but only cuz i finally watched ep 12 last night.

It's really worth it for Choi Yeo Jin. Her story after their marriage might be her best role.
There are a couple of brief moments of intimidation/violence but they aren't romanticized and work well with the story and the mindset of the characters

mte op, these past 2 episodes were amazing. You don't often see this kind of topic being handled so thoroughly in a drama (if at all), since the focus isn't on a specific otp but rather on what all the parties involved are going through with this affair/divorce. I'm kind of glad Hee Tae has a love interest, even if he's using her a bit right now to get even with Il Ri :/ I don't think Hee Tae/Il Ri should get back together, it's not gonna work out for them at this point.

Overall, I have no idea where all of this is gonna go but they should really stop waving that hammer. Yes to the fist fights though. LSH should get punched every episode imho

It's kind of convenient, but then again it also emphasizes the theme of how things in life change and don't always work out as expected, right? The one interesting conflict that does come out of this is that he's being put into the same situation as hers - i.e. he has feelings for two people, one of them being his spouse. Il Ri now also gets to experience the betrayal she was afraid of by putting herself in his shoes.

THIS DRAMA IS SO FREAKING GOOD IM IN PAIN!

I was not prepared for the depth of this drama or the range of emotions it makes me experience.

It's so good that I'm not even that bothered by the fact that it probably won't end the way I want it to (Il Ri leaving both guys and riding off into the sunset on her own damn horse).

I think a lot of ppl just want Il Ri to end up with Kim Joon because Lee Soo Hyuk is doing a really good job in making Joon a sympathetic and very relatable character. And he's hot. But Joon has some soul hurts and anger and possessiveness that he needs to deal with, preferably with professional help.

A lot of ppl also want Il Ri to stay with her husband Hee Tae but I don't think he deserves her. And the student/teacher relationship at the beginning really rubbed me the wrong way and turned me off that couple from the beginning.

Anyway its a k drama so i guess the original couple will work it out and stay together but i'm enjoying the ride anyway. As long as it remains this... real and raw and vulnerable and intense I'm happy.

I am so in love with Il Ri and Hee Soo's relationship.

Same! If the drama ends up with Il Ri with someone who is not her husband (the carpenter, alone or some stranger), I hope that at least the two girls keep seeing each other.

I want Il Ri to ride off into the sunset by herself too

I know it's a kdrama but I just want them to break the first love forever trope. For someone to actually stay divorced

I'M NOT SORRY AT ALL.

Was my favorite scene. I was so happy she said that to him.

I need that divorce to be finalized and for those side dishes to chill and back off a lot. They have been together for 14 yrs and are not ready for a new relationship.
But I don't think it's going to go that way,

I'M NOT SORRY AT ALL.

MY EYES WERE SO WIDE BUT I WAS SMILING SO HARD DURING THIS SCENE BECAUSE I WAS SO PROUD OF IL RI!
Hee Tae acts so self righteous and oh so smarty pants but he's been with his wife 7 years and doesn't even understand her. Poor girl couldn't even cry in front of her husband smh

I just want Il ri to end up with anyone but her husband. Why is she made too feel like she has done everything wrong but he hasn't once asked himself if he did anything wrong for her to look for something elsewhere.

And speaking of which, WHAT GREAT CRIME HAS YI RI COMMITTED TO END UP WITH THAT USELESS BROTHER OF HEE TAE'S? It just feels like male fantasy that you can be a lazy, rude, annoying jerk and still deserve the pretty smart girl.

I like that we might find out more about Hee Soo's past. I really like her character and the worst thing about the split was less Hee Soo/Il Ri

I need those divorce papers to be signed now. I hate her gross asshole of husband so much, im glad that his co worker is making the moves on him. Idc for her but whenever i see those scenes i'm like "yassss bitch, snatch this man up!" so he can stay the hell away from Il Ri.

I'm so happy at how incredible the women are in general in this show, I'm not pleased at how Il Ri's mom is treating her, she's not even trying to know her daughter's side. She just doesn't want to lose her "perfect" son in law (who's actually a tool)

I'm happy Kim Joon isn't becoming an ass, he's staying pretty decent and I'm rooting for things to work out with him since he's a good guy and I know female leads don't end up alone in kdrama land.

ewwww at Yi Ri and her hookup w/ her douche useless brother in law. in a way im kinda of glad they're getting together since this means less chance for Il Ri to get back together with her heinous husband.

Hee Soo/Il Ri is obvs the best relationship, I really wanna know more about Hee Soo and her "collapse" plus why everyone thinks it's Il Ri's fault.

i have no time for abusive ignorant entitled fuckboys. i need him to be miserable/alone and since he sounds awful in the voice overs i have hope. yet im worried this means il ri will die since he doesn't sound like someone who made up with his wife or even came to terms with her

So late to the party, OP but I am finally getting around to watching this now that it's over. Just finished these episodes, and I'm really finna cut most of these characters out of Il Ri's life. Hee Soo + Il Ri forever <3 How fucking sad is it that before Joon came along the only person she could talk to was someone who couldn't talk back. Even her "friend" from high school isn't really a friend. It makes me so mad that everyone is propping up Hee Tae as this perfect, great guy when he lets everything that's going on in their life just slide by making minimal effort. You can tell the only person who actually takes care of Hee Soo is Il Ri. Dude didn't even know the password to his own house, don't know his bank account #, didn't have any food in his house. She's doing everything. But everyone acts like the only problem is Hee Soo and refuse to even ask WHY she is so adamant about taking care of her & not sending her off to a nursing home. Not even Hee Soo knows how her brother really is.

Was totally here for Il Ri's outburst at Hee Tae at that restaurant. I didn't want her to stop because he needs to realize he ain't do anything right by her, either. It makes me so mad that he's now going to possibly try to keep the marriage going and not file the divorce that HE wanted just because there is another man willing to snatch Il Ri up if he doesn't want her.

Lee Si Young needs to get something for this but since it's on a cable channel she won't and I AM SAD because this is really the best acting I've seen from her thus far. She is doing a tremendous job. I'm also really enjoying Lee Soo Hyuk in this drama.
