Setlist in descriptionbox

Sooyoungunnie102

....I watched this mostly to see how they divided Jessica's lines. Concerts are fun but they hardly do any live singing and every Jp tour of theirs has been exactly the same? And I do not ever want to hear that Genie remix/ITNW ballad again.

Apparently they do sing live at the venue, but when it's broadcast or released on DVD/Blu-ray, they 'correct' the audio by layering studio versions over it. Sometimes they single out adlibs for live playback and they don't usually do much to the ballads (although it sounds like they may have pitch-corrected Tiffany's murdering of Jessica's high note in Divine), but most of the fancams I saw had live singing in all but Show Girls and Chain Reaction.

I really hate when companies do this and becoming more common everywhere. It makes buying the concert dvd seem completely pointless. I don't just want to look at them that bad LOL if I just wanted to watch them dance over the studio version, I could watch the video.

Aren't Tokyo Done concerts supposed to be a big deal? Like, all out kinda things?

Dull + tragic setlist

Yes, even for Japanese artists it's a big thing to perform at Tokyo Dome, especially because you can't just perform there, but need to be invited to do so.

I really wish they'd do more live singing on their tours. For all the talking kpop fans do about kpop groups having better vocals (and it's true, generally), many of their vocally inferior Japanese idol counterparts manage to sing mostly live (and with less playback) on much longer tours. I've always wondered what my favorite kpop groups would sound like singing live with their vocals this exposed, considering most of them have better vocals to start with. I barely even keep up with music shows anymore because of how over powering the playback has become. As someone who has experience performing live myself, I'd honestly take rough vocals over a boring, mostly lipsynced performance.

BRIGHT :( I miss them so much. There was a time Yoochun (he was still in DBSK that time) expressed in collaborating with them. I would love to see that happen. Sigh. Oh wellsh.

I had no idea about the Yoochun thing! I always drag him a lil because I hated his voice but now I might have a soft spot for him LOL Avex did BRIGHT so dirty, they could have been huge but Avex girl groups always fall apart.

commenting bc c-ute yessss. idk how airi's voice compares to the average kpop idol but she's a beast live

yeah I mean, I think a lot of kpop fans find the way Japanese singers vocalize to be a bit jarring because it's much more nasal due to the nature of how the language is pronounced but some of these girl groups have that style of singing DOWN.

i mean, i think what it is about some of these groups, and you can hear it here, is that they're capable of singing loud but not necessarily with a lot of nuance/ability to change it up? most of the h!p girls' head voices(? i'm not a pro so i could be mixing terms) are really underdeveloped, for example, but usually they don't need to sing in their head voice. their job is to sing and dance the typically energetic songs they're given, and they do their job well, which you can't say always say about some famous kpop girl groups.

I've been stanning them since day one, I'm so sad they didn't ever hit it big. I like FLOWER and the like but I feel like Bright could have been huge =/

Mte. Kpop have better vocal with flashy dance move but they seems robotic? Everything needs to be perfect while relying too much on playback. Jpop idol concert are more fun to watch, im currently watching fairies concert and it's amazing how they sing live from a-z.

I haven't watched this yet, but ugh why are their tour costumes always so childish? They look so cheap too.
The styling for their first Japanese tour was so good. That was their peak anyway, now they've become so embarrassing.

as much as i like soshi, they barely sing live during their concerts. even when you watch fancams you can hear that they lipsync most of their songs. and when they sing live you can only hear taeyeon, tiffany and seohyun

HDU that ITNW Ballad is great! I love that performance.

I listened the audio live stream and watched the fancams... they actually sing live (proven by Tiffany butchering bunch of her lines and Taeyeon kinda straining her voice in some) and this broadcast is obviously altered. They fixed Sunny's mistake for singing too early in that awkward pause during Not Alone as well.

This setlist is based on their The Best album, even the the VCRs are mostly a mash-up or remake of their previous Japan tours. So it's both disappointing but not that unreasonable imo. Anyway, it could have been better but it's a pretty fun concert.

mte and even the not vocally strong members sounded so good during that performance and yeah most of this concert was sung live and even tho tiffany strained in the beginning I have to give her props in itnw she nailed that high note perfectly

And I do not ever want to hear that Genie remix/ITNW ballad again.

hallelujah someone said it
although when I found it on Koreaboo, it was just the ITNW ballad and it came off as more media play about victim!ot8 crying over villainess!Jessica

From: [identity profile] ggumd.livejournal.com
how so? itnw is one of those fan songs~ like complete was during their very first tour and it was the last song to be performed so it was obviously sentimental idt they were painting jessica as a "villain" in anyway lol

From: [identity profile] tokyocinema.livejournal.com
I'm not saying it was at all--no one knows what was going through their minds or why they got emotional at all; I'm just saying it felt like media play of the poor Soshi now that selfish!Jessica "left" them, what with it being the very first song they did as ot9 and the last song (before the encore) sung at their first legitimate concert without Jessica.

Intw has been the ending song since the second tour what else would they end with? But yeah it is an emotional song for fans and the girls alike but it's not like they are gonna cut it out completely you know?

That itnw ballad was wonderful tho, and most of this concert was sung live except for the few heavy dance songs and on that note show girls was the best performance damn that choreo

I've pretty much watched all the fancams of this concert and they sing live in majority of them, especially since you could hear Tiffany screeching and just being louder than everybody else in general. They sound way better here because they've altered the vocals for the broadcast.

Am I the only one that actually liked the Genie Remix/ITNW ballad? ._. I mean Genie was whatever because it wasn't that much different from the usual remix and I give my unnie Sooyoung props for covering Jessica's lines but ITNW hit me straight in my SONE feels because it was just that emotional T__T The ballad version still sounds so beautiful though *O* And I gotta say, I was beyond impressed that Tiffany was able to pull off that high note O__O

the 3rd one was like a better version imo

[TL;DR - performance looked more like a 'goodbye we'll continue without you' than a 'how could you leave us' stage]

I honestly really appreciated how they did the ITNW performance. I mean this is merely an observation (I'm not a SONE either) and there's no way we know for certain it was intentional, but the performance itself said enough about the entire Jessica scandal.
The song starts with a very obvious gap between the girls, with a spotlight shining on that gap, then they close the gap halfway through, hold hands together, and finish the song.
The way I take it, they are showing the fans the recognize Jessica is gone, but they have to be strong and continue as 8 for the sake of the group and fans.
The media is definitely taking advantage of Bad Guy Sica, but that performance alone has no ground for that. The girls dreamed to perform at Tokyo Dome, ITNW was their debut song, no shit they're going to get emotional. Regardless of whether Sica was there or not, there was going to be tears either way.

yeah, I always figured they were crying because of the continued fan support throughout all the drama, rather than because Jessica is missing.

while i do find the concert a bit lackluster..(i still cant get over their first concert epicness), i enjoy some of the performance.
seeing sunny cry made me emotional and that itnw ballad killed me. i had myself strong at divine but itnw just... T___T i become a mess. i love that ballad, and so much sone feels..
my biased heart is proud of yoona, she did okay singing all those lines she had.<3

My cousin was there and said that she regrets it. The girls looked bored/tired during most of the concert and a lot of songs were lip-synched.
Both of us saw Soshi during their "First Japan Tour" and my cousin said that they lost a lot of their spark since then. It's sad...ITNW performance was the highlight for her.
