Production of Seasons 2 and 3 of tvN Drama “The Three Musketeers” Sacked

After much deliberation, cable channel tvN has decided that the production of the drama “The Three Musketeers” must come to an end.

Originally planned to run for three seasons, “The Three Musketeers” unfortunately will have to end with just one season. According to a broadcasting representative on December 26, tvN has decided to not push through with the production of seasons two and three of the drama.

“After the differences in the production, tvN decided to not push through with the production of the next season. (Currently, tvN is) planning a different drama,” added the representative.

“The Three Musketeers” is a fusion historical drama that adapts the Alexandre Dumas novel of romance, intrigue and adventures in the French royal court into the Joseon era. CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa, Lee Jin Wook, Yang Dong Geun, Seo Hyun Jin, and Yoo In Young appear as the main cast of the drama. The first season of the drama ended on November 2.

i couldnt finish the first episode, lol. i thought it was AWFUL---the excessive use of the narrator was nagl and i STILL feel like yonghwa was miscast.

ROFL, ITA. i feel like if they were looking to push three seasons it would've been smarter for them to put a popular actor in the lead role and tap an idol for a supporting role.

but even then i wouldn't want yonghwa, lol.

Ehhh...I'm not surprised. I was there Lee Jin Wook and, though he improved, there was too much Yonghwa and he wasn't a big enough draw

Wonder if Misaeng will have season two. Because the webtoon writer said it will be mostly GR in Jordan and to film overseas $$$$$

Also, If season two of liar game happens, I don't get tvN. Liar game didn't do that well in ratings (average of 0.96%), while The Three Musketeers had average ratings of 1.32%.

But in the Liar game BTS the actors talk as if there will be season two. So I wonder... maybe filming Sageuks is much more expensive.

the problem w/ season 2s is that it's hard to book the same actors as they make other commitments & schedules/timing is a pain to figure. filming abroad in jordon though....... misaeng was a critical & commerical hit & i could see if they were on a big 3 station bcuz misaeng would have been pulling in 38% average ratings most likely. maybe it would have even gotten close to 50% like Baker King.

overall i doubt misaeng will have a s2 but if in 2 years it happens i'll cry tears of joy & probably faint. liar game is so much cheaper to film than TTM and it had critical acclaim so a s2 isn't out of the picture & im personally hoping for one.

if misaeng is shown as a prime-time drama, it will probably will only gather 13%-15% in ratings. this is due to the fact it is popular among office workers but not general public (ajumma and old people who are the factor in getting high ratings for kdramas). that's why all dramas that usually hit 40%-50% are usually family/historical dramas and not dramas like city hunter no matter how awesome is the story.

true but word of mouth would help it alot. misaeng hit 10% as a prime time cable drama so it def would hit at least upper 20% if it was on a public station. honestly pretty much everyone can relate to misaeng, there are characters for everyone to relate to and even if people can't relate curiosity & word of mouth would get them to tune in. i honestly think misaeng would have gotten insane ratings like baker king or moon embracing the sun.

meh not really, like you're right that ahjummas is a big demographic in drama audience but that's really the morning/early evening dramas that gets impacted. the dramas you're thinking of that hit 40-50% was either from ten years ago or are played at a different time slot. primetime audience has been a nice mix. like good dramas will always bring in the ratings, no matter what channel. but there is also that nowadays especially in the younger demographic people tend to download/stream their shows on the internet over watching it on tv on time, which also impacts the ratings.

i dropped mid episode 1. it was too trashy and Yonghwa can't act to save his life. Hoping for a Liar Game s2 though, it's not half as expensive to film as the 3 muskateers and it was critically acclaimed.
