Plot:
The drama depicts the last six months of Park Jung Hwan's life, one of the prosecutors working on anti-corruption department. Before the brain tumor takes his life, he is determined to expose the frauds and misconducts committed by his superior, Lee Tae Joon. He also struggles to make amends with his ex-wife Shin Ha Kyung and their daughter Ye Rin, for all his indifferent attitudes in the past.

Lee Tae Joon (Jo Jae Kyun) is the Public Prosecutor General, a jovial man with a thick Kyungsangdo accent who hums trot songs all day long. He’s got the outward appearance and personality of a gregarious village chief, while hiding an ice-cold disposition underneath. He’s famous for stripping countless prosecutors of their jobs, and has a long history of backdoor illegal activity, which he naturally keeps under wraps. Shin Ha-kyung (Kim A-joong) is a prosecutor who has refused extremely high-paying jobs at large firms, and instead fights for justice.

Park Jung-Hwan (Kim Rae-Won) is the chief of the anti-corruption investigation team for the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. To get to his position, he has made compromises on achieving justice. Park Jung-Hwan then learns that he has a malignant brain tumor and does not have much time to left. To end his life without regrets, he points a gun at corrupt Public Prosecutor General Lee Tae-Joon (Cho Jae-Hyun). Park Jung-Hwan’s ex-wife Shin Ha-Gyung (Kim A-Joong), who is also a prosecutor, knows about Park Jung-Hwan’s situation and helps him. (Asianwiki)

The drama will be about prosecutors high-up in the supreme court — the hero is a chief investigative prosecutor named Park Jeong-hwan (Kim Rae-won) who finds out he has six months left to live, and on the other side is a prosecutor general Lee Tae-joon (Jo Jae-Kyun) who’s neck-deep in corruption. The drama follows the last six months of the hero’s life after he finds out he’s dying, and is described as “the story of a man who throws his final punch at the world, as he says farewell to this life.(Dramabeans)

To be honest, I've been watching Pride and Prejudice for the deliciousness that is Choi Jin Hyuk (I swear I can prollie watch this man read a telephone book and be riveted) so I'm a bit prosecutor-ed out, but I've been wanting to watch Punch. I'll think I'll marathon both Punch and Healer when they finish their run. How has the drama been? I also have to admit on a very superficial note that the lead actress' face distracts me in the same way Lee Jong Suk's does.

Really? I find Lee Jong Suk bland but I think Kim Ah Joong is wonderful so that trumps all for me. But, I guess as long as you aren't Seo Woo I don't really care.

Yeah, I know. Not his face, his acting. Though he isn't my type either. But I was tryna say basically what you were saying about Seo Woo about Kim Ah Joong. And that plastic surgery doesn't generally bother me like it seems to others. I dunno, I don't mind it. I think Seo Woo's bothers me because I watched the first few episodes of Cinderella's Sister and thought the character was awful lmao.

Yeah, I can understand. I guess it's weird when that happens. Like right now, I am watch Misaeng and sometimes I think Kang Sora has changed since I first saw her but I'm just like "eh...it's OK" since I enjoy her so much. I don't think she got anything done...maybe her cheeks are chubbier...or she did her eyebrows? LOL something small.

I concur, Lee Jong Suk IS bland and his face scares the crap out of me. Super shallow of me, I know, but like I said, his face distracts the crap out of me. I just can't deal with bad plastic surgery. I made it through I Hear Your Voice because I enjoyed the storyline, even though his face always distracted me.

Where as Kim Ah Joong, I loved her in 200 Pound Beauty, so I was really surprised when I saw her in the trailers for Punch, the amount of PS she's done over the years has taken a toll on her face, and that was all I noticed during the trailers. It's so so bad of me, but I couldn't help it. It's just a shame, that's all.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that about Lee Jong Suk's acting. & I've read similar sentiments on Lee Jong Suk, I don't think you have to feel bad. Everyone has a peeve. And I can understand being a fan of someone's work and the strange feeling of watching them change over time. Since she is so talented though I just live with it, lol. I also don't see her too often so that helps, I'm sure. I won't be quick to catch on unless it's something really big. XD

LOL That's what I mean! I remember seeing her in 20 Pound Beauty and now I'm like ... wait ... do I recognize you? She was almost cast with Choi Jin Hyuk in P&P before turning it down for Punch. Idk how I'd been able to handle it, but for Choi Jin Hyuk, I would have bore thru her face distracting me. TBH, it's not that her PS is bad, it's just obvious? I really don't mind a good plastic surgery, but if I'm noticing it, then it's distracting.

Lee Jong Suk's face scares me even more. The amount of plastic. I know it's shallow, but I can't help it. As much as I loved "I Hear Your Voice" the back of my mind kept prodding me to shake my head at how disastrous his plastic surgery has been. Like it's catastrophically BAD. Michael Jackson circa 1990 BAD. But hey, I guess it's working for him since he has an army of fans.

Really want to check this one out when it's done. (Sorry, OP, I only watch dramas when they're done lmao).
But it looks great. I didn't watch the PD's/writer's (?) previous drama The Chaser but I heard good things. I watched some of Empire of Gold that I think they also did but I think it's something I have to be in a certain mood for. Maybe I'll try again, later.

Probably because there is no foreseeable romance story line or maybe because oppa/unnie isn't in it, haha. It looks pretty engaging to me, though. But I haven't watched anything week-to-week since Kim Nam Gil's Nice Guy. After that show, I was like NEVER AGAIN.

The ending made me so mad. I pretend it never happened. I do love Jung So Min as well (and Kim Jae Wook) :)

OP, beat it to me. I was also going to make a discussion post, too but then I realized that international fandom doesn't watch these kind of dramas because there's no hot hallyu star in it. Although it's probably a dozen times better than their bias' drama.

I love this screenwriter's work and Punch is basically a mixture of Empire of Gold and The Chaser. I was hoping they'd cast Son Hyun Joo and Ryu Seung Soo again but unfortunately the latter's appearance was short-lived.

Kim Ah Joong and Kim Rae Won are killing it and Kim Ji Young is so precious. When she was talking to her dad at night, she made me tear up.

I already thought that Tae Joon from Empire of Gold was an asshole but Jung Hwan manged to beat that, he even used their daughter and his disease to emotionally manipulate his ex-wife.

I'm wondering how the redemption arc will be played out, because a life threatening disease obviously didn't turn him into a good guy. It slowly started last episode but I'm not buying his sudden I-want-to-protect-my-family-because-I'm-dying-schtick yet.

I love the fact that Ha Gyung is not used as a plot device for Jung Hwan. She's a real character, a mom, who wants to protect her child and an ex-wife, who still hasn't forgotten her ex-husband and above all is her sense righteousness.

There's also no bad-because-I'm-bad-villain but instead they're complex characters and make you wonder how did they turn out to be like this. I dislike the fact that many dramas are painted as black and white but in this case we got millions of shades in between.

Well, this way of thinking does make sense, too. I agree with you, he's definitely angry they messed with his family while he was away. I can't help but wonder what'd happen, if they messed with Ye Rin and I feel like this might happen soon. My heart won't be able to take it, if they decide to kill Ye Rin. I was clutching my chest already during the bus scene.

It's a shame that the really good dramas don't receive enough attention, at least the reactions are domestically better than internationally. Ironically, I don't like dramas that much, which are really popular among international fans aka "hallyu dramas" e.g Pinocchio rn. I prefer the underdogs, e.g. Empire of Gold, The Queen's Classroom, King of Dramas, 2 Weeks.

I'm glad you're here
I'm really glad you made this post and I'm not watching this alone.

Oh yaaas, everyone freezes and stares at their phones as if the devil is calling.

Kudos to you! I couldn't watch complex dramas like Punch or Empire of Gold unsubbed. My Korean level is like on A2, so I can watch stupid, fluffy rom-coms or family dramas without subs but that's it. I should learn new vocabulary and practice more, but I'm too lazy.

Nope, not that much. 2 Weeks was at least a bit popular because of Lee Jun Ki.

I do that, too. But then I'm too lazy and figure out that probably no one watched it. I used to post discussion posts for Hotel King but goodness gracious, this drama was a terrible snoozefest despite the reunion of the My Girl otp, I stopped watching the drama and except for me only two people commented anyway. So... /shrugs I only manged to finish it recently with ff.

lol I used to read recaps for The Greatest Marriage but even the recapper stopped and I'm not keen on watching it myself.

Where do you download your dramas? D-addict has now shut down their torrent and I have no idea where can I get HD videos anymore. :((

Anyone?

If you dont mind, where do I have to go to download the stream video? Is it HD? The last time I watched a stream drama is back in 2008 for Yisan and Temptation of an Angel. It satisfy me since the subs are out very fast however, the quality is very bad thus I dont watch stream anymore.

OMG thank you so so much Sara! Its very helpful and easy. I feel so guilty having you to screencap everything. But I managed to download straight away. ^^v

I finished my thesis and now I can go back wasting my time gif-ing dramas again. ^^v Jang Hyuk's new dramas is airing soon too so you have no idea how happy I am. 8D I wanted him to go back acting in sageuk so now I'm all excited hoho

Aww, I'm glad that it worked out for you. Don't worry, taking the screencaps was not a hassle for me.

I also have to do lots of stuff for uni... I should finish it soon and take less naps 8D.

I'm not sure, if I should look forward to Shine or Go Crazy, because Oh Yeon Seo is not my favorite female lead but I'll give it a shot at least.

Anyway, thank you so much. ^^ I know loading the images to imgur and writing and linking the images to the message is no one-click tasks. :)

Actually, I did go 'Ohhhhh noooooes!!' when she was announced haha. But I did watch Jang Bori's last episode to see what the fuss about the drama (I thought the drama is really pretentious) and she seemed very likeable and now I'm kinda excited. The drama has potential to be like Yisan where husband and wife hand in hand work together and I always love that kind of story esp if its a historical drama. 8D

I haven't watched Jang Bori yet because I don't get the fuss about it either. I never watched Yi San, since I can't commit to any drama with more than 50 episodes but unfortunately some really good Saeguks have more than 50 episodes. Though I like these kind of storylines, too. Well, at least Shine or Go Crazy will have less episodes and therefore I might actually finish it.

Then you missed a loooot! A lot of very good sageuk has more than 50 episodes. I remember watching Jumong 7 years ago for 2 weeks while doing my practical at an audit firm. I only have night time to watch the drama but I managed to finish all those 78++ episode in 2 weeks! It was crazy. ;_;What I like about sageuk is that it is entertaining even if you dont know the actors or actresses. The plot are the one that drives you in instead of the eye candy.

The only unfortunate thing about Shine or Go Crazy for me is the title of the drama. Who thought it will be a good idea for a sageuk to get that name. I'm embarrassed even to type it ahaha XD Actually I wanted the drama to have 50++ episodes in hope that it will be able for Jang Hyuk to bag the MBC Daesang for next year (Plus I want to watch him every week for 6 months ;_;). I want him to collect all Daesang from all TV stations before he's too old to do that hehe. 8D

Damn now you make me want to watch all these super long saeguk dramas. I applaud your patience.

The title is really tacky, lmao then he should've joined Splendid Politics instead, whose plot sounds to me more interesting than Shine or Go Crazy's plot. He's the kind of an actor, who'd really deserve to win the daesangs from all channels.

Kim Raewon always took good project for his movie career (Sunflower, Mr. Socrates or Insadong Scandal were all glorious) but I couldnt say the same to his dramas' choices (except the one she did with Soo Ae in 2011) so I'm really looking forward to this hoping this going to be different and interesting.

However, while I love courtroom drama so much (The Practice & Boston Legal are one of my faves), Korean courtroom stories always fall behind in term of interesting cases or argument in court. I know this drama wont spent much time in the courtroom but hopefully when it does, I wont feel stupid or underwhelmed on how it was handled by the writer..

His dramas choices are very weak tbh esp Love Story in Harvard. Why?!! T__T But his movies are great! I just realized that I have watched many of his movies twice since I love them so much -- My Little Bride, Sunflower or Mr. Socrates. ..ing is also pretty good as well. :3

The last scene of him and Soo Ae in A Thousand Day Promise made me cry -- he just hug her and said 'Its Okay.. It's Okay..' and when he said at her grave: "I'm not ready yet..', he made me cry even more lol. My God after 2 years of taking care a women that basically didn't remember you, you still said you're not ready yet?!! Where do I sign to get this kind of husband too? XD

Will definitely watch this drama later. I'm now catching up with my K-movies and I probably will start watching this when Jang Hyuk's new drama start airing next week. :D

Is it? I dont want to know tbh. I just know that he was cursed since little but gifted and later married a princess which also cursed with the destiny to be the light/beacon of other country. It has potential to be great since Jang Hyuk always pick up good projects and it probably will be like Yi San where the King and the lead lady hand in hand work together to defeat the bad guys. I always prefer husband and wife combo work together rather than the story of them trying to be together with each other.

I wish it will be great like Tree With Deep Roots and hopefully he wont die in this but he probably will so I already prepared for it lol. I want him to act again in sageuk after FTLY so I'm more than happy to hear about his next project ^^v

TWDR was really great! It was among the very best written script I have ever watched from a kdrama and I just love how the writer approach to all of the characters -- be it good or bad. But what surprise me the most is how good Shin Sekyung is in the story. I used to think she's bad, but she proved me wrong in the drama. I guess acting with all those veteran actors make her improve her acting as well. I think many people will prefer Chuno compared to TWDR since it has more action but the second part of Chuno scarred me for life and it gives me such a heartache even just by listening to the OST. >.>

Yeah, it was the quick marriage plot though mostly all sageuk involved that kind of marriage considering most of the marriages at that time are arranged marriage. But arrange marriage plot always intrigued me so you have no idea how all of these make me anticipate the drama even more. ^^v

She used to confuse me with her acting -- meaning that I really cant tell what her character supposed to feel. I remember me and my sister were really confuse with the storyline due to her acting lol. She's been cursed with bad drama after TWDR and her latest one with Lee Dong Wook hit a new low imo. I thought When A Man Loves is bad but Blade Man is just plain unbelievable. DX

At the end where everyone die except the King is very sad tbh -- but I guess at that time I already get used for leads to die in historical dramas so my acceptance level is already very high lol. But I guess its important to show the great sacrifices that everyone has to make for the creation of the letters. I mean, they even killed the cute crown prince (I dont know who is the actor but I did cry when Han Suk Kyu put him in his arm T___T). I mean, despite living, the King must feel the most sad since he's all alone now. I really feel for him when he start noticing all the small things at his palace (the small flowers, how blue is the sky & etc..) when people that he loves or used to be beside him are no longer there -- a familiar place becomes unfamiliar to him. Gah, I really love the script -- I thought it was brilliant! 8DD

Ahh,this show :D It's been really good and just as I wanted to see when I read the first descriptions.
I have some problems with casting, though. I am waiting a u-turn from that old man with Minister of Justice.
Because I have never seen him as a good guy before. Same goes with Kang Jae, that man was one of the
loyal characters in TWDR and I am like "noo, you can't be a bad man" ,lol.
The hospital scene was so emotional when the douche-bag doctor told him that it's three months left and he went outside, saw the ad of 2015 :(
Also Kim Rae Won, man he looks so good in this drama:D
