Jessica Jung rakes an impressive opening launch sales in Seoul, South Korea as BLANC & ECLARE earns more than 10 million won (just over US$9,000) within four hours.

BLANC & ECLARE, for which Jessica is the creative director, officially made their launch last December 19th as their first collection of limited edition scarves were released to the public. Since the launch, it was revealed that the fashion brand recorded more than 10 million won within four hours of opening.

The brand, which is based in Hong Kong, also opened their first pop-up shop in the Lotte Young Plaza in the busy Myeongdong shopping district of downtown Seoul, South Korea, leaving fans to queue up to the venue prior to its launch. The brand further managed to record more than 20 million won worth of sales for its first day. The star also recently attended a store opening event in the Hillsong King Mall in Chongqing, China.

The brand has so far a range of products, including a line of scarves in a total of six designs, ranging from modern to classic in concept, as well as eyewear products.

After the launch, Jessica Jung held a fan signing event on December 22nd where she was seen bursting into tears due to her fans’ support.

Since withdrawing from Girls’ Generation late this year, Jessica Jung has been focusing on her personal commitments at her own pace and continued promotions for her own fashion brand.

Article: Jessica's 'Blanc & Eclare' made 10 million won in its first 4 hours of opening... 'massive'

1. [+567, -36] Look at this media play. She had a 100 member fan meeting and sold scarves for $220 a pop ㅋㅋㅋ So of course she's going to rack in 10 million won in sales. Imagine all those people she auctioned tickets to online who didn't make it in... and it's a pop-up store, the store's going to eventually close and she thinks media play like this is going to work? SM is obviously not managing her anymore and Jessica's using a private promoter who's releasing articles like this.

2. [+528, -27] Sounds like traditional media play. She held a fan signing at her Lotte Mall pop-up store so of course fans are going to go in and buy them. Even journalists were hating on her saying it wasn't even a fan meeting because she had all her products out and was lecturing about her business ㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+382, -22] She sold all of her products through fan signing auction tickets so of course she hit a certain amount in sales ㅋㅋㅋ

4. [+64, -3] I've worked in shopping malls before and for a store launch complete with a fan signing event, 10 million won is nothing. Her sunglasses and scarves are so expensive already so if you take out the people who bought them for the fan signing, it's really nothing. Celebrities will always sell a lot in their first year off of their name value. What's important is where they stand three years later.

5. [+33, -3] So if her sunglasses go for $300-400, that means she barely sold 30 in the four hours her store was open. That's a lot? She's media playing about that, right now?

6. [+22, -0] She basically sold 50 things since her products go for around $200... obviously it'll be easy for her to hit 10 million won.

7. [+20, -3] I don't know how she has any shame calling this a business when she's basically manipulating her fans for her own greed

8. [+18, -2] Jessica was physically there and had an event and all and all she sold was 10 million won ㅋㅋㅋ That's actually quite embarrassing. I guess even her SNSD name isn't working for her anymore.

*OP NOTE: This bit is a note from NB herself

There were also a lot of negative articles about Jessica last night, some titles I saw going around being:

"Jessica's Korean fan signing, criticized for irresponsible hosting... 'incomplete event'"

"Jessica stands on her own, will her irresponsible management hold her back"

"Jessica stands on her own and sheds ice princess image, smiles for everyone"

"Jessica criticized for irresponsible Blanc & Eclare event... 'is she really a professional?'"

"How did Jessica become so ostracized?"

So, Queen J pulls in over US $9000 within four hours and over US $18,000 on the first day...

Pro - I bet she gets to keep more $$$ than she did SNSD profits. Con - will there still be sales if she is not present as a sales driver (i.e. fans bought scarves/sunglasses just to meet her)?

that's what I'm worried about, people bought that much for the fan event if there isn't a incentive like that then idt people will buy that much and 10 million won isn't that much, she needs a new pr and a marketing team if she wants to last in the long run I think

hope her business wont fail and she keeps getting those moneyy
i want to support her, but the products are overpriced and i rather spend the money on a more well known brand.

princess jessica, im glad she made some money but honestly her stuff is like what 200 per item so 10,000 isn't that much a profit truly. her whole pr/marketing teams needs to get together and figure out how they're going to pull this through the long run.

Getting more and more concerned about her seeming lack of a viable business plan...

I'm honestly really curious how this business venture will pan out in a few years.

People acting like that is not an amazing retail haul in 4 hours (and the day), even for Black Friday and especially for accessories, is amazing to me.

Also I love how they ignore how fans buy 25 albums to get into fanmeetings, and clearly purchases weren't required for Sica's that day, and act as if this is a new phenomenon

It's also amusing that these journalist wrote all these negative click bait articles and then knetz acted like it was media play...the logic fail is amazing

Anywho I'm glad they did a support event and Sica knows fans support her in Korea too.

Knetz...why so tsundere

frankly it's difficult to tell if it's good or not bc nobody promotes like this in fashion and so far girl is selling herself not her products.

tbh i don't like sica but she reminds me of myself when i was like sixteen so it amuses me. there's a huge difference between having good taste and being a good designer. so far sica has shown zero artistic vision and she is also clearly going into minimalist fashion territory aka the hardest one.

i forsee her brand becoming even more expensive zara with ripping off every designer she likes.

Her product line is obviously way too expensive, but damn why are people so mad. She's using the idol method that is used by all. It's not a viable business plan obviously but I doubt she'll do this long term. Her fans get to meet her and support her business. Win win really.

I hope she gets $!

I ordered my jessica sunglasses because I'm that kind of sucker and they took forever to come in but they finally did and not only do they actually feel nice in my hands but I look like a cool ass queen in them. it seems that her business is being run by people who don't know what they are doing but maybe they'll get it together.

I really want to buy a pair; either Paris or Seoul oatmeal/white...but two freaking hundred and fifty dollars!

Wonder if they would have sold better if they were 100 bucks chraper. 150 is a good and reasonable launching price imo, then afterwards she could have thrown out a "special/limited" edition for 250 and I think they would have sold out easy as candy.

Which set did you get, btw?

I got the Paris in black, I've never owned black sunglasses before and I was scared that since it's a big frame and I'm a soft color sorta person they'd overwhelm me, but they're so delightful and I don't think I would've rocked the oatmeal as well (just me personally - I have a fairly light complexion and I feel they would've blended right in). I have a pretty big face and I feel like they balance out the size of my face, lol.

They're definitely priced high for starters though. They feel really nice quality but I've never owned expensive sunglasses before so I don't really have a point of comparison, but I think it'd be a fair price if the brand was actually established. I know a lot of people who wanna get them but can't justify $250. Honestly getting them was a poor decision on my part because I can't afford that kinda stuff but I had a stan moment.

I'm going to buy a pair but I can't decide between the shanghai and the paris.
So they don't feel like cheap or anything?

From: [identity profile] djlancerock.livejournal.com
hey sarah! :)

I got the paris and I adore them! I don't think they feel cheap but like i said in another comment above, my experience with expensive sunglasses is hella limited (heck, i even go cheap with my glasses glasses). they feel sturdy though and they come in a nice little case. not that i've tried it but they don't feel like they'll break from slight abuse or anything.

I have a big stupid face so paris was the logical choice for me but I love the shanghai too. I think you'd look good in either but if you want i can send you a photo of paris on my normal, non-famous face (just tell me where to send it lol)

Hey back Maria :)

I always manage to break my cheap ones so I started buying more expensive sunglasses because I know I'll be more careful with them lol. So as long as they're at least somewhat sturdy I should be good.

That would be awesome! I'll inbox you my email.

I have mixed feelings, mainly because I find myself pulling my hair with the business decisions she makesa and I pretty much rme at her lol, but I am rooting for her to success, is just she's making very poor decisions tbqh.

I hope she gets her shit together because fan events can only take her brand so far, and being quite honest taking into account she made a fan event with about 200 fans I would expect her revenue to be at least 3 times that.

I just hope she's happy and pray that she achieves some success from this.

And i agree with you op! korean netizens treat her like the evil bitch that abandoned her group, but she got kicked out, and in a cruel way, it's like SM waited until there was something she could really want, like the fan meeting/showcase in china, to take it away from her on the last minute.

I mean she was always active in her chinese blog, and had the most chinese fans among the other group members, so i don't think it was a coincidence that she flew back to korea to attend the chinese event and they informed her that she was no longer a member... fuck everyone involved.
