Song Jae Rim Was Poor Growing up, Dream Was to Be a Salaryman





Actor Song Jae Rim revealed that he was poor growing up, so his dream was to be a salaryman who receives a steady income. He said that this was also one of the reasons why he started working early in his life.


In the December 6 broadcast of MBC’s “Human Documentary,” Song Jae Rim revealed his daily lifestyle. After finding a certain traditional market in Sillim, Song Jae Rim said, “I was always poor growing up. We were so poor that the IMF crisis [the Asian financial crisis of 1997-98] didn’t affect us. There was no such thing as voluntary retirement.”





Song Jae Rim revealed that he has been living on his own since he was 20 years old. He said that because of his limited budget, he developed a habit of keeping track of his expenditures and shared with viewers the ledgers he has compiled over the years.

Actor Song Jae Rim has revealed the reason behind his changed appearance. On the December 6 episode of MBC’s “Human Documentary – Human Is Good,” the star introduced the viewers to his daily lifestyle and opened up about his life before debuting as a model.





The actor rose to stardom after appearing on MBC’s hit drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” but since then, his appearance has undergone a transformation, and he is now known for his masculine and muscular look.


Regarding this, Song Jae Rim said, “People say that my face has changed a lot due to gaining fat on my face and changing my hairstyle. I used to be extremely skinny back then,” and explained, “When I shot ‘The Moon that Embraces the Sun,’ I weighed around 58-59 kilograms (128 pounds). I had just crossed over to acting from modeling, and because of that, I was skinny.”




Song Jae Rim Shows How He Maintains His Well-Built Body in “Human Documentary”





On the December 6 broadcast of “Human Documentary,” actor Song Jae Rim showed off his well-built body that he has worked hard to maintain over the past 10 years.

During the broadcast, the actor shared that because he debuted as a model, staying fit has long been a part of his lifestyle. He revealed that it has been 10 years since he started working out regularly. However, it wasn’t just through exercise that Song Jae Rim was able to achieve his body.




He said, “When I used to work at an industrial factory, I would bike to and fro from Shillim-dong to Garibong-dong. My thighs grew really thick as a result.”

To comments that his appearance has changed a lot since “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” he replied, “I had just transitioned from modeling into acting, so I was pretty thin. I weighed roughly 59 kg.” He said that cutting his hair and losing some weight on his face also might have contributed to the difference.


Song Jae Rim debuted as a CF model in 2009. He began his acting career with a minor role in the film “Actresses,” and had his breakout role in the hit MBC drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun.”

On the December 6th broadcasting of MBC TV show, 'Human Documentary: Good People', Song Jae-rim introduced his daily life, shining with his unexpected hidden qualities. Song Jae-rim debuted as a model for commercials in 2009 and started his acting career playing a small role in the movie, "Actresses".


He started gaining popularity with his appearance in the MBC TV drama, "The Sun and the Moon". He has become one of the hottest men this year with innuendos in his comments , his rather bold affectionate touching and romantic comments in MBC entertainment show, 'We Got Married', winning many female viewers' hearts.

On this episode of 'Human Documentary: Good People', he recalled the time when his family was going through a difficult financial situation. "We had two college students in the house. It cost so much money to support two college students by just one year difference in the age. To earn money for tuition fee, I worked part time and served for defense contractor companies"

He has been keeping a record of his daily expense since he started making money. He said "being luxurious does not just mean buying luxury brands or purchasing expensive cars. I felt sad when basic daily spending was a luxury for me at the time". I became humble with my spending after having realized spending outside of what I can afford is extravagant".

As I traveled home from a wedding today I watched the Running Man (http://kshowonline.com/kshow/2661-[engsub]-running-man-ep.220) episode with his appearance. So funny! I hope he'll appear again and not on an episode that is jammed packed with so many big personalities because there were so many things going on at once. I was happy that when he did get camera time that he was hilarious and endearing.

Yeah you're right there were too many things going on in that episode. Also the theme/missions were boring so it's unfortunate. Hopefully he'll be in another ep soon.

Definetly think he shines in smaller groups. He plays off So Eun so well on the show....their rapport and chemistry makes it easy for him.....but the approval of the public seems to have given him confidence....it looks like he's gaining experience with variety and he will only get better....the wedding & reception on WGM was proof of that.....I think he owes So Eun a lot for his succes...if he was paired with someone who was just appalled by his behavior and shut him down....I don't think he'd be the darling of Korean entertainment he is at the moment...

I do feel bad for So Eun I don't think she's getting the recognition or opportunities that he is...I know she just finished Liar Game so maybe things will pick up....I am a Jae Rim fan and watched WGM for him...but I definitely became a So Eun fan for her sassy spunky self and hope things work out for her....sorry for the rant....

im glad he's getting spotlight, he def deserves it. i really wanna see him in as a lead in a drama in 2015. hopefully not as his usually stotic type cast but as someone more charismatic bcuz he def is and if he milks it enough, people will fall over themselves to sign him for everything.

This namja without a filter is a breath of fresh air on variety shows. I thought he was interesting as a long-haired model and on Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, but he looks better with some more meat on his bones. Can't do a booty wiggle without a booty!
