After five long years of training, rookie singer Shannon has finally hit the stage, performing her debut song, “Daybreak Rain.”
Solo artist Shannon has successfully finished her debut stage on November 29th on jTBC‘s finale episode of Hidden Singer 3. For her debut stage, she came back to the place where she first gained attention, hoping to surprise everyone with her debut performance. Returning to the show with a new mature image, Shannon showed off her great vocals while flawlessly dancing along with her back-up dancers.
Prior to her debut, she stated through her agency, “With all the energy I have, I will give my all in singing and dancing on the stage of Hidden Singer that made me who I am today. It’s my goal to show a shocking performance. I wish to be a singer that combines great dance and singing skills.”
Shannon was able to take part in the production of her debut song “Daybreak Rain”, composed by Rocoberry, with choreography help from world-renowned dancer Ian Eastwood. Ian Eastwood is a well-known dancer for working with SHINee‘s Taemin for his debut song “Danger”, and also made an appearance on MTV‘s America’s Best Dance Crew.
Shannon made her first appearance on Star King in 2010 at the young age of 11, sharing with everyone her dream of becoming a singer in South Korea. She appeared on television again in 2013 on Hidden Singer 2 for IU’s episode, after signing with Core Contents Media. Through her appearances on these programs, she became known as IU‘s doppelganger for her amazing vocal abilities. Prior to her debut she produced covers of well-known songs, and also recorded a single called “Remember You,” featuring SPEED‘s Jongkook.
After the release of her first teaser image, Shannon gave fans a quick peek of her debut music video on November 25th. In the video teaser she was seen riding in car, and also showing off a short preview of the choreography with a snippet of “Daybreak Rain” playing.

She's half-Welsh, half-Korean, raised in London and brought up in musical theatre and came to Korea with her whole family just to begin her singing career at the age of 10-11 years old. She even used to be in Five Dolls. I had honestly never heard of her until possibly like, a couple days ago, but when watching her, she kind of reminded me of like,Taemin--not because they used the same choreographer, but they kind of have the same vibe...interesting. Here's to hoping the years she sacrificed for this pays off.

Date: 2014-11-30 04:09 am (UTC)i see the taemin vibes lol but i think it's due to the choreo and the slightly expressionless faces she uses while dancing (just like tae!) ahaha
here's hoping she does well, i like this a lot!

Date: 2014-11-30 05:24 am (UTC)and Lee Michelle was only waved around as a novelty by YG ("ooh! A hip hop company with a real live black person!!") and then dumped when they realized they could make money off of Lee Hi alone AND THEN she never even got to perform live or anything because "Without You" didn't even chart because it was about how she was bullied for being half-black.
But it's obvi not Shannon's fault whatsoever and both girls worked and still are working damn hard. It's just how society seems to be, mate.
