Choi Jin Hyuk's new drama, Pride and Prejudice, has been quietly slaying the Monday/Tuesdays drama ratings. Well now his agency, Red Brick House, is planning to slay his fans with adorableness by recently releasing personal childhood photos of Choi Jin Hyuk as a toddler. It's hard to believe there was a time when that tall delicious 6 ft plus of a manhunk was also a shortiepie. But we finally have visual proof.

Date: 2014-11-26 02:22 am (UTC)Question: There have been rumours about them doing an Emergency Couple season 2 (A la an article about Song Ji Hyo prepping for it). Isn't Choi Jin Hyuk leaving for the army relatively soon? I know he's now doing the non-celebrity military stuff, but I thought he was enlisting asap.

Date: 2014-11-26 03:16 am (UTC)Maybe if they have a season two, it'll be focused on another couple like Reply 1994 did but with the old cast making cameos? That would explain away CJH's absence and he could film his cameo stuff before his army enlisting (which I think won't happen till like next year anyway). He's a 1986-liner so, whenever Suju's Sungmin enlists, he'll probably enlist a bit after that. Especially since he's out of the celeb service and into the actual army service.
Still, with CJH leaving for the army and not having much time to film another drama, they could just proceed and have his character written out of the sequel by saying they broke up (again) and this time she'll pair up with Dr. Guk instead. Which would be a bit of slight against CJH but I do know there were quite a lot of fans that wanted Dr. Guk to pair up with Jihyo or the other doctor lady. I'd feel super bad for that other doctor lady tho. Maybe the sequel can be about Dr. Guk and the other doctor lady with Jihyo as a cameo. I'd watch that.
The whole army enlisting thing for CJH kinda got out of hand when everyone thought he was enlisting because they thought he was like 30+. They didn't realize he's a lot younger in age than his physical appearance. He's the same age as Donghae and Sungmin, but looks waaay older than either of them. I mean, Shindong, who's an 85-liner hasn't even truly enlisted yet, so I doubt CJH has to enlist before him.
That being said, I do know that CJH's vampire film that will be going into promotions by mid-next year will definitely not include him because the production knows he'll be in the army by then *weeps*

Date: 2014-11-26 06:17 am (UTC)Can you imaging the hilarity between the EC couple vs the Monday couple?
I'd watch it in a heartbeat, pun intended.
But alas, Running Man is on SBS ...

Date: 2014-11-26 06:38 am (UTC)This confuses me so much because I thought he was at least over 20 and I was completely prepared to swoon but then I found he was 19 and I just ... can't lol My brain just can't compute because he doesn't look like he's 19. He is going to be a noona-slayer. I feel it. Plus that height he has! But damn it, he is such a good looking kid. If he plays his cards right and picks good roles, he's the next Kang Ha Neul or hallyu star.

Date: 2014-11-26 06:33 am (UTC)I mean, I was going to watch it regardless, because I was willing to give it a try for the mancandy that is CJH, but even I was unimpressed with the teaser trailer and the general synopsis/feel of the drama. I was really surprised when I genuinely enjoyed the first episode.
I think overseas viewers are especially surprised because both Secret Door and Nodame have had insane promotions to market their dramas while P&P flew relatively quietly under the radar with their promos. The only "promotions" they made were with their casting announcements and that only drew attention because CJH and Baek Jin Hee replaced the original leads of Daniel Choi, so there was a lot of speculation that the drama would do poorly. I saw a glimmer of hope when Choi Min Soo was cast, because at least he's a veteran actor and I think he's pretty picky with his roles, so if he was willing to agree to a role in the drama, it had to be at least somewhat decent. I think that's probably what may have convinced people in Korea to tune it. I still think it's probably eyecandy CJH and the opening 5 minutes between the two leads, which was fantastic in setting their chemistry for the viewers. Theirs a lot of witty banter in this drama, which has also been fun to watch.
Thankfully, the drama has been doing well, staying in double digits. It's further cementing CJH's leading man potential not only in cable but network television and I'm happy with that because at least he's leaving for the army on a high note.

Date: 2014-11-26 06:55 am (UTC)IDK about Choi Min Soo. I like him a lot -- an actor with an overflowing charisma but I just wish he will act in more prominent roles instead of important side-character roles like in Warrior Baek Song Soo or Faith. For someone like him, he should be headlining dramas. I didn't watch P&P so how was his character? And bias aside, is the drama legit good and entertaining?
I'm so much more excited with Jang Hyuk's new drama which will followed after P&P ended. I longed for him to act in Sageuk again and he always kill the ratings whenever he acted in Sageuk so now I just extremely excited. :DDDD

Date: 2014-11-26 11:05 am (UTC)Yeah, I was surprised Choi Min Soo accepted a supporting role, but to be honest, he's killing it on P&P (as expected). His character's delivery and mannerism are so on point (so much so that the characters in the drama even mimic him now). He's supposed to be the red herring, I think, and he's doing a good job making the audience try and guess if he's a good prosecutor or not and what his true motives are.
And yes, P&P is good, if you're okay with watching legal dramas and stomaching difficult/sensitive cases like child molesting, child murder, etc. Put all that aside, the cast chemistry is SUPERB. From the opening 5 minutes, it's very clear that CJH and Baek Jin Hee have fabulous chemistry. Then you add the entire team and it only gets better. I say the drama starts to truly pick up steam around episodes 5/6, but episodes 8/9 have been my favorites so far. There's drama, but also a great balance of humor, playfulness, reality, cuteness, romance, etc. I think the writer-nim is starting to finally get what the audience wants to see. I really like it now and can see what they're trying to achieve with this drama. In the beginning, I was just seeing where the ball rolls, now it finally feels like there's a destination.
Ah yes, MBC is killing it right now. They are just WINNING and dominating Mon/Tues (p&p) and Wed/Thurs (mr. baek) and probably Sunday (real man) too. They're pretty much on a role and I'm happy for them. so here's to hope Jang Hyuk's new drama will do well since he's been a ratings magnet for MBC as well :D
