Starship Entertainment, the agency that represents groups SISTAR and Boyfriend, will be joining forces with Mnet for the launching of a new survival show, which will result in a new hip hop group.
The show, called “No Mercy,” working alongside various established artists such as Rhymer, San E, Giriboy, and Chunjae Nochang, will put 12 trainees to the test.
Through various collaborations with and training from popular artists as well as survival tests, the members of the new hip hop group will be chosen.

Date: 2014-11-12 03:20 pm (UTC)has starship choose certain aesthetics on porpuse? most likely, but I do dont doubt that they have been planning this for a while (big productions NEED time to develop, not only creative-wise but to get sponsors/backing)and that they have long term interest in hip-hop.
so yeah maybe the marketing plan is stan baiting/following the leader BUT marketing is just a part of the show. We will see how it goes from there

Date: 2014-11-12 08:06 am (UTC)But seriously, all this YG moaning.
Girls Aloud, O-Town, Eden's Crush, Danity Kane and a whole bunch of other groups all want to say hello. From 15 years ago.
VIXX too. "Survival" shows are nothing new.

Date: 2014-11-12 05:57 pm (UTC)In general, I think these shows are more entertaining then the reality ones that show nugu groups before or after they debut, where they're given missions or something (almost always involve cooking at one point) and such like SBS mtv shows like Match Up! with Block B and B1A4 (probably one of the best of these types of shows), and so on.
Usually though the new groups don't have many variety skills, so it's rather boring.
