AOA Will Resume Band Activities Once It Gains Popularity

AOA shared that it has been continuing to prepare for its band activities.

AOA held a showcase for second mini album Like a Cat on November 10 at the Yes 24 Muv Hall in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu and revealed that it will go back to being a band once it gains popularity.

When asked about Youkyoung, who did not participate in the dance album promotional activities, AOA said, “Since we’re a transforming group, we continue to change as a group. We weren’t successful before and it hasn’t been very long since we started gaining interest. There are still many people who don’t know us so we will present better music activities once we spread our name through dance activities.”

AOA continued, “Ever since we released the first album, we constantly wondered what the public wants to see and changed ourselves. This is our third collaboration with Brave Brothers so we had better teamwork. We’re more confident about this album compared to the others.”

Meanwhile, AOA’s second mini album Like a Cat will be released on November 11 through various online communities. The album contains a total of six tracks, including the title track Like a Cat as well as AOA, Time, Two of Us and more.

Like a Cat is a song that expresses a woman’s desire to look beautiful in front of the one she loves and it features cat-like dance moves.

Tch. That concept made them unique and now they just follow trends like every other girl group. I hate it. I didnt need another sistar/gsd/rainbow etc etc.

What would reassure me is knowing: have the AOA Black members (minus Y) been practicing their instrument playing and ensemble playing at all?

That would already tell me a lot about how serious FNC is regarding ressurecting the band.

Well I don't really believe it, at this point. And I don't think it would be good for them (marketing-wise) ; they have been building a style for the dance unit that is so much different than whatever the band was doing... It would confuse everyone to change concepts again (I loved the band unit, don't misunderstand me, but having two units at the same time always meant one would be left in darkness)
Or they could come back with a sexy rock anthem but I don't know if they'll go this road

I'd rather them change their concept them remain dependent on bravebros like every other gg. Tbh their current sound/concept is trendy and wont last forever. The minute a new gg breaks the mold everyone will flock to what they are doing and copy it

Yes you have a point. I guess I just really hate a complete u-turn of concept and would like something gradual instead (but Brave Bro can leave; in fact, he should be send to holidays for a loooong while).
I'm really conflicted with this group because I want to stan them (and I loved the band unit) but their last songs are generic... yet they have them noticed and somehow successful ?

A friend of mine basically said this at the top of the year when I was talking with him, that they are trying to up their girl group cred before showcasing the band again. I want to believe in it, especially since they said something on it & Y is shown on BTS things sometimes. I refuse to lose faith!

How does it compare to Miniskirt though? Omona may hate the brave bros era of AOA but it gained them recognition and a music show win in Korea. That's why I don't know if FNC will really let it go as long as it continues to be doing well

Miniskirt is their most succesful release actually ( 9,653+ physical copies and 1,003,095+ dl)
Moya got them their first "break" so to speak but it didn't not sell a lot, though to be fair it wasn't properly advertised and they didn't get to perform a lot

people who want them to perform as a band.. have y'all ever watched their live performances? cuz no offense but only the drummer is proficient. they need to practice waaay more before returning the band subunit or else they will end up embarrassing themselves.

I like their dance group more. I just wish they would work with a different producer because brave brothers is srsly so lazy with his songs

But they only had the chance to do that twice
and the acoustic covers are always better than the actual brave bro release
