it was like eleven pm yesterday when i saw the zico video on both omona and bestiz (korean site) and i ranted a bit in korean about the confederate flag and the f-word, and it's probably just coincidental but within half an hour after i made my rant there was an entire post on bestiz about those exact problems, and it spread everywhere. zico is a pos and there are still many people who are like, "well eminem said it yoon mirae said it yada yada yada" but there are so many people who now know about the f-word, plus the n-word incident and why it's bad to say it. so i'm glad there was a brief progress, although it took a dumbass's fuck up to make it happen.


wendy thing was briefly mentioned in some sites in light of zico incident but people had harder time understanding why it was racist to imitate an ethnicity... they don't seem to be able to differentiate between negative stereotypes versus "ethnic traits," even when asian stereotypes are made in comparison.

and it got me thinking, maybe the problem with education on racism in a homogeneous country like korea is that they don't face racism themselves very often, since they are the default ethnicity/race. like they will get angry when they hear about their people facing racism in america but they don't understand the full extent of it, since they didn't experience it. they don't know what it likes to have your personality and looks assumed just by the color of your skin, traits that are mildly bad or downright negative. it's only the asian americans, african americans, etc. who actually have to face that, even then those without an education on it don't realize if they're being mocked or they're mocking other ethnicities.

there's also the intended versus "accidental" racism, and people who think accidental racism is slightly better since you just didn't know any better - i mean sure, like it was accidental but it's still racist, you know? and i have to explain again that racism, sexism, or any type of discrimination is decided by the victims, not the perpetrators - it doesn't matter if you "didn't mean it," what matters is how the person who's the target of your dumb remarks took them. but stuff like this does require learning. i didn't know until i was in college, and i lived in america for a long time.

idk, more i learn and think about issues like this more i get stressed out because it won't end, there's always gonna be ignorant and dumb people and i'm very split in opinion whenever issues like this come up again and again - because it's shitty that it happened, and the person who did it was obviously racist, but i still feel uncomfortable seeing a whole country being mocked and criticized. aaaand i don't know where i was going with this.

i stayed up until 4am last night pointing out why what zico and wendy did were wrong and woke up very exasperated and upset at the whole thing.

Oh that freakin sucks. One time a cat crawled up under my car and my dog went batshit and scratched up the paint. Called animal control cause there was no way I was starting up my car with a live cat inside of it.

I'm saving all of my energy to prepare myself for the 2pm concert. Only one week left and it is the highlight of this month. It's even better than the day after thanksgiving when christmas songs start to play which should honestly be a national holiday. Anyway, I'm excited. So excited. And hoping they get plenty of sleep because I want tons of energy.

how's everyone? i'm eating super late dinner now, i haven't done much today... except from reading yet another shoujo manga and drafting a novel. ofc i saw today's misaeng too, it was great as usual.

i've been feeling really bad for past week, mostly mentally. the medicine for cartiliage finally started working but i still can't stand the noise my bones make when i walk. almost like i'm falling apart.
i'm repeating a year at uni and it's kinda sad how the people from my old year are now passing me on the corridor, asking what am i doing here as i failed last year. it's kinda... mean? like i know it was my fault that i'm stuck now cause i am a lazy ass but i can sense some kind of satisfaction coming from the way they talk to me. i know i shouldn't be taking this so personally but i can't help it. i find it hard to make friends and haven't made any among people from my uni... it's like i know i'm antisocial but i don't think it's really that bad to be this way.

to end this comment on a happier note, i'm thinking about buying some serious equipment and materials from an online shop for chocolatiers. there's a huge sale on everything but... i wonder if spending a nice sum on this is smart, i dunno if i will keep up this interest for long.

Currently a bit bummed out over my non-existent love life.

I mentioned before that there's this dude I really like and we've been talking on FB a lot, but now I've been gone from town for two weeks and it's kind of falling asleep. Like, we were talking a little, but my arrival here was a nightmare and I kind of vented a bit and later apologized for airing that out, and his response was kind, but included that he felt surprised at my "outburst" since he "doesn't know me thaaat well". Since then he's only written once, about some art critique stuff, and whenever I've written his answers are really brief etc.

Ugh ugh ugh. I'm in the middle of a film production and shouldn't be thinking about this shit, but I feel like I effed up somehow when I thought I finally had a chance with someone. So stupid. Now I don't want to write bc I don't want to be the one to always start the conversation, but I really miss talking to him.

Sorry for dumping all this on you guys, I just don't really have anyone else I can talk to right now.

Talk all you want hun, don't worry about it. Well, I do get it, when we like someone we just vent everything and we forget about everything else. we just feel comfortable enough to tell that person how fustrated we're feeling at that exact moment and how unhappy we're feeling.
But I'm sure he didn't feel anything bad, he probably was just surprised and doesn't know how to deal with it. How about you go back to talking to the things that brought you guys together in the first place? It might help?
