Moon Hee Jun Opens Up About Pressures Regarding Celebrity Military Enlistment

H.O.T’s Moon Hee Jun returned to the military in a new round of enlisters on MBC’s reality show “Real Men.” On the latest episode that aired on October 26, Moon Hee Jun talked about his past experiences with the military on the ride to the training site.

It was revealed that in his physical examination before his military enlistment, he had been deemed incapable of enlisting into active duty. He said, “I went despite the fact that my health had been pretty bad, but they told me to go back. I thought that my world was falling apart when I heard the news. I wondered what I would do.”

Moon Hee Jun continued, “I told them that since there was a medical facility in the army I would do my best while receiving treatment. The examiner was compassionate when he heard that and asked me if it was because I was worried about being judged and misunderstood even though I had been really unwell. It wasn’t just that, but my father told me, ‘No matter how you live your life you need to go into active military duty when it comes time.’ He told me that a man must finish his active duty. I was taught to think that way.”

Meanwhile, the other members in this round of new enlisters were actors Yoo Joon Sang and Im Hyung Joon, BTOB’s Yook Sung Jae, and mixed martial arts fighter Kim Dong Hyun. “Real Men” airs every Sunday on MBC.
