Debuting in Korea as 2PM’s little brothers, and receiving high popularity in the Asian countries, GOT7’s long-awaited Japanese debut is finally here! The South Korean-born members, JB, Jr., Youngjae, Yugyeom, and also Mark from America, Jackson from Hong Kong, and BamBam from Thailand, they make up the multinational GOT7. Everyone has their own specialty, and of course, their characters are colorful! For their first appearance, let’s get to know the members and what kind of group they are.
☆ A multinational group
- Congratulations on your Japanese debut! Please tell us about how you felt when you found out you were going to debut in Japan.
JB: When our Japanese debut was decided, I was really glad and also nervous. I felt very satisfied knowing that we would be able to create many happy memories with the Japanese fans. And so, I want to continue to work harder.
Jackson: I’m truly grateful to be given this opportunity. We definitely won’t waste this chance, along with the members, we will work hard.
- What kind of group is GOT7? What charm do you have that other groups don’t?
Jackson: First of all, we are a very honest group.
Mark: We’re composed of multinational members, international!
JB: We know “martial arts tricking”. Combining martial arts elements and street dance in performances that captures the audience.
- GOT7’s performances are very captivating, and the members have a lot of chemistry, in order to achieve that, you must practise hard every day?
Jackson: Yes, we practise a lot. “No pains, no gains”, if you don’t make an effort, you won’t get anything in return!
Youngjae: Yes, I really think that is true!
- That’s amazing. Please tell me about each member’s personality.
Jackson: Then we’ll start from me. I’m in charge of gags/making jokes.
JB: Jackson is very cute!
Jackson: This is the first time I’m hearing that *laughs*
JB: He has a lot of aegyo. And his eyes are also very charming.
BamBam: I think compared to his eyes, his nose is more charming. And also, he has a nice body!
Mark: Even though his face is very chic, his personality is very lively.
Yugyeom: To me, he’s the most interesting person in the world!
- Tell me about Jackson’s bad points that you want him to fix.
Jackson: You still want to hear the bad points? But if I tell you the truth, you might not be able to include it in the magazine *laughs*
- Eh!?
Jackson: I’m just kidding *laughs*
Mark: Sometimes he over-thinks things, he can be a bit sensitive at times.
JB: He originally has a meticulous side, and he will be depressed if he isn’t able to achieve his goal. But if you just talk to him about it, he’ll understand right away and calm down.
☆ How are the members like? A side that will surprise people……
- Jr. and Youngjae hasn’t commented on Jackson yet.
Jr.: I’m not close with him, I have nothing to say.
Youngjae: For me, I’m also……
All: LOL
Jr.: I’m just joking *laughs* Jackson even throws himself away in order to make us laugh.
All: That’s right!!
Youngjae: I really don’t have anything to say *laughs* The members have already said what I wanted to say *laughs*
- In that case, let’s talk about Youngjae.
Youngjae: Hello, I am GOT7’s main vocal.
Jr.: Youngjae is someone that has a strong sense of responsibility towards his work.
JB: People might think he likes being alone and is introverted, but he’s actually a very open/lively person.
BamBam: Towards things he’s interested in, he is very serious in learning. Towards things he’s not interested in, he is very indifferent *laughs*
Yugyeom: He is JYP’s “dance prodigy”. Because there was tremendous progress in his dancing in a short amount of time.
- As expected, the members are all blessed with talents and also possess great concentration. Jackson, do you have anything you want to say about Youngjae?
Jackson: For me, I’m also……
All: LOL
Jackson: This is revenge for what Youngjae said earlier, I’m just joking *laughs*
Mark: I have something to say to Youngjae. When I come to wake you up, wake up! Please wake up!
Jackson: Youngjae is a deep sleeper. If we don’t wake him up, he might sleep till next year. Pretty much if he sleeps, he won’t wake up.
- That’s very problematic!
Youngjae: I don’t want to be like that too, I think it’s bothersome for everyone as well.
- Tell us about Mark.
Mark: I’m the oldest in the group, but I’m the quietest.
Youngjae: Mark eats well.
Mark: You’re supposed to talk about my personality *laughs*
Youngjae: He really is quiet, sometimes you wonder if he’s even there *laughs*
Yugyeom: Even though he’s quiet, he thinks about a lot of things (takes many things into consideration).
JB: How do you know what he thinks about?
Yugyeom: Because our hearts are connected *laughs*
Mark: ……………..
Yugyeom: Even though it’s not clear, now that I’ve said it, let’s just say that’s how it is *laughs*
JB: The difference between when he’s quiet and when he’s playful is very big. It’s too big, so it would be nice if the gap could be reduced *laughs*
Jackson: Mark’s appearance and personality are both great.
BamBam: About Mark, I have something I want to say! Because he’s too handsome, he’s good at everything. So I hope the rest of us won’t be too handsome *laughs*
Mark: ……I don’t understand what this means *laughs* (T/N: Me too Mark, me too)
Jr.: He’s good at taking care of others, he takes initiative to voice his opinion, he pays attention to the details, he’s an older brother you can rely on.
- Let’s talk about Yugyeom.
Yugyeom: I’m the maknae that’s the tallest amongst the members.
Jr.: Yugyeom is especially good at dancing, his has endless love towards dance.
Mark: Even after we’re done, he’ll stay in the practice room alone and continue to practice dancing.
Jr.: He is very pure, he becomes shy when we praise him. But he knows himself that he’s good at dancing *laughs*
BamBam: He is Korea’s Chris Brown!
Yugyeom: *smiles*
BamBam: We spent our trainee lives together! When we are together, he takes care of me like an older brother.
JB: He’s the team’s maknae, but his appearance and personality isn’t like a maknae.
- He does seem like he’s reliable and has a calm demeanor. And now, BamBam.
BamBam: I’m the group’s cutest member, I also have charisma.
All: Eh!? *laughs*
JB: Isn’t it you want to BECOME charismatic?
BamBam: I have sexy charisma!
Mark: I’m hearing this for the first time *laughs*
Youngjae: BamBam isn’t charisma, he’s cute!
Jr.: He’s too cute, so you want to take care of him like a child.
Jackson: I’ve known BamBam since he was young, he’s really grown a lot. Because I’ve watched him grow, ah~ there’s an odd feeling.
Yugyeom: He’s a person that knows the clear difference between right and wrong. Once he goes on the stage, he becomes very cool.
Jackson: He’s very charming.
Yugyeom: He’s very good to the fans, gives them a lot of love. He’s a friend that I sincerely cherish.
BamBam: Thank you~!! *firmly shakes hands*
☆ GOT7’s Martial Arts Tricking is a must-see!
- It is nice to see this atmosphere that reaffirms your friendship. Regretfully, allow me to ask about BamBam’s bad points.
Jackson: We won’t be able to finish till next year *laughs*
JB: There’s no time!
Jackson: Let’s go to the next topic~ *laughs*
JB: I’ll do the next self-introduction. I am GOT7’s leader, cool & sexy…..I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m in charge of being cool & sexy *laughs*
Mark: Charisma!
Youngjae: ….no, he’s not. He’s cute *laughs*
JB: No one else thinks that way *laughs*
Yugyeom: He really is cute. He strives for perfection, and he shows people a perfect image, but there are times when he’s innocent, I think that’s cute.
Jackson: He’s the aegyo king. Also, he’s like BamBam, he’ll clearly say what is wrong and what is right. He really likes to dance, no matter where he goes, as long as there’s music, he will start to dance.
JB: I like to sing and dance, and of course, I also like music!
- How is JB as a leader?
Jackson: He is very responsible.
Yugyeom: Good leadership.
BamBam: He’s always lecturing us.
Youngjae: He’s cute when he smiles.
BamBam: When he’s playing around with us he’s like a close hyung, but when he’s serious, his eyes change into those of a tiger.
Jackson: Lastly, Jr., please introduce yourself.
- Thank you for the reminder *laughs*
Jr.: I’m in charge of being the gentle mom.
Mark: He really is gentle.
BamBam: He’s the leader’s right hand man, when we don’t listen, he will lecture us along with the leader.
- Then the leader is the dad?
JB: But I’m not that old *laughs*
Yugyeom: When things happen, he will think through them carefully, a person that acts seriously.
Jackson: If he can’t think something through, he will become very sensitive. In that sense, he’s the same as me, this is something we must change, so I understand how he feels.
Yugyeom: A best friend!
BamBam: In the artistic sense, he is one step ahead of us.
- I’ve gotten to know a lot about the members. Please tell me about 「AROUND THE WORLD」 that will be released in Japan on October 22nd.
JB: The lyrics includes a lot of ＜Let’s go～＞, also, the dance is very fun, I think it’s a song that everyone will enjoy, you can sing along, it will help to eliminate your stress. It will put you in a pleasant mood.
- Please tell us about the main dance point in 「AROUND THE WORLD」, and how you filmed the MV.
Mark: The energy-wave is the main point! When we perform, everyone must do it with us!
JB: The martial arts tricking dance break is a must. Also, in the MV, our clothes are red, yellow, and other various colors, it changed according to the background, so I was happy when filming.
- Was the shooting tiring?
Jackson: We don’t think of it as tiring, but rather as a challenge!
☆ The type of girls the members like……!?
- Please tell me how you feel when listening to the song「SO LUCKY」
JB: The phrase “So Lucky” comes out a lot in the lyrics, because we are able to meet with the fans, we feel very lucky. The song was created with 2PM’s Jun. K with this idea in mind.
- 2PM’s Jun. K did the song’s entire production process himself, how is Jun. K like? Is Jun. K’s style harsh? Or is he gentle?
Youngjae: *immediately answering* He’s gentle. He’s the most gentle producer we’ve ever encountered.

- Jun. K & 2PM have been successful and active in Japan, did the sunbaes give you any advice for your Japanese debut or teach you Japanese?
Yugyeom: They gave a lot of advice, first, when you are doing activities in Japan, you must work hard to learn Japanese. And this is not something that is only limited to Japan, they said we must sincerely work hard in any country.
JB: When in Japan, you must fulfill your promise. And also, when we start to become more known, we must remain humble, they taught us precious things like this.
- What is your goal? 2PM fulfilled their wish of performing in Tokyo Dome, do you have thoughts of wanting to surpass your sunbaes?
Yugyeom: The 2PM sunbaes are our goal, surpassing them is a situation we cannot even fathom yet.
JB: The 2PM sunbaes are very active in Japan, we also want to be active here, the sunbaes have given us great strength. And so, I want us to grow quickly and be able to stand on our own without the help of the sunbaes one day!
- Please tell us about your ideal type.
All: …………
- Huh? All of the sudden, the mood went down.
JB: Honestly, I don’t have a clear ideal type. If I have to say something, then it would be someone that I notice.
Youngjae: Hmmm……*laughs* I’ll say it later.
Jackson: A lively and charming girl.
Jr.: Someone that believes in me and shows their teeth with they smile.
BamBam: Mine is similar to Jr.’s, someone that looks cute when they smile. When I’m joking and being mischievous, a girl that will laugh all the time.
Yugyeom: I have my own ideal type, a girl that is charming when she stands.
Mark: Mine is also very clear, the person I like might not be the best, but I want to be with her.
- Youngjae, have you decided yet?
Youngjae: Someone that I like.
- I see. Lastly, from debut till now, you’ve made various efforts, but are there any episodes that you can’t forget even until now? Tell me about the times when the members have supported each other.
Jr.: I was able to debut because of the other 6 members. The road to debut wasn’t easy, there were many difficult moments, but because the 6 of them supported and held on to me, that’s how I am able to be here now.
JB: The members being together have always been my source of power. We all worked hard to practice, when we go on stage together, they follow me well, I think it’s really great that I am able to be with these members. Also, the 2PM and 2AM sunbaes, when we are distressed, they give us a lot of advice and support. To the sunbaes and everyone that have supported us, we will do our best to repay you, our thankful hearts will show in our future activities! Everyone in Japan, please look after GOT7!
