“Misaeng” Producer Reveals Opening Sequence Is a Clue to Drama’s Ending

Media outlet Newsen has published a report about current tvN drama “Misaeng.” As part of the report, Newsen spoke to Lee Je Moon, a producer working on the series, which is based on a popular webtoon (web-based cartoon) of the same name.
In the interview, the producer stated that fans of the webtoon could expect surprises from the series. Lee Je Moon said, “The opening was a little different to that of the webtoon. It was something of a clue about the series’ ending.”
Lee Je Moon also explained that he and other members of the production crew went to Jordan with the webtoon’s writer, Yoo Tae Ho, in November last year. He explained, “We fell in love with Jordan and thought that it would be great to film the opening in Jordan too.”
The producer also noted, “The setting of the drama is not contemporary. Viewers may recall a message that was left in a bathroom that read ‘March, 2012.’ And if you look carefully, you will see they are using second-generation mobile phones and that the cars are not brand new models either.”
Le Je Moon said, “The scene in Jordan in the 20th episode features actor Im Siwan [of ZE:A]. You will what happens to him in the last episode.”
Misaeng' Im Siwan and Byun Yohan end up in a fist fight

Naver:
1. [+1,530, -26] When Im Siwan first came out, I had no idea he'd get this big as an actor... amazing! Fighting~
2. [+1,340, -16] I hate that Lee Sang Hyun guy ㅡㅡ I want to hit Ahnyoung's partner on the head
3. [+1,202, -20] This drama is soooo fun. The actors have great talent and the directing is amazing. Even a public broadcast channel couldn't produce a drama of this quality. They'd probably make all the interns end up dating each other.
4. [+987, -14] Another rediscovery of Im Siwan's many charms. Do well!
5. [+355, -1] The way Jang Geurae talks sounds very philosophical and can be awkward in a real life context (probably since the original's a manhwa) but Im Siwan really pulls it off! The character itself is powerful so it seems easy to express but Siwan manages to bring out a sort of shadowed youth to him with lines that really hit your heart.
6. [+279, -6] Im Siwan's better than most actors
7. [+273, -6] Misaeng's so fun, tvN's been daebak lately
8. [+259, -9] I hope Byun Yohan-ssi gets more recognition with this drama and gets cast in more work~ His character's so charming and he's a great actor ㅋㅋㅋ a cutie indeed
-
Nate:
1. [+307, -6] Im Siwan's a great actor. Charming with Lee Sung Min.
2. [+280, -8] Misaeng has the perfect trio of a good drama. Lacks nothing in directing, adaptation, and acting. Finally a drama that makes me look forward to the next episode.
3. [+253, -8] The drama really sucks you in, it's fun
4. [+41, -0] The drama's not outwardly impressive or anything but it sucks you in... tvN's been on such a roll lately, their dramas have been great.
5. [+39, -5] Misaeng's amazingly fun... way more fun than any public broadcast drama!!!
6. [+16, -1] These monologues really hit you in the heart. The drama itself has a very toned down atmosphere so it just sucks you in... Siwan no longer seems like Siwan but Jang Geurae himself.. This drama simply captivates you.
7. [+12, -1] One of the few dramas I've been watching lately... I live vicariously through Jang Geurae facing the world and slowly changing ㅋㅋㅋ
8. [+12, -0] This drama really knows what its focus on unlike other dramas who only care about love lines.
9. [+9, -1] This drama is so sad. The reason is within the drama itself and the cast who acts it all out. in the beginning, Im Siwan is knocked here and there in a loose fitting suit and he looked just like a black bag rolling around on the streets, it made me tear up. This drama has nailed everything down from the clothing to the props.

Date: 2014-10-27 04:23 pm (UTC)I was not here for the show trying to redeem Seok-yool however... When the story about his father working in the factory came up... The subs for ep 4 were incomplete when I was watching it, so I don't know how the rest of the episode played out, but I felt icky about making a tactless, self-centered dick sympathetic. I get that he was trying to get a feel for the fabric, but dude, there are totally more appropriate, respectful ways to do that.
Also, whereas in eps 1 and 2 I was uncertain about Baek-gi sincerely caring about Geu-rae, it seems to me now that he does not care for him. He likes Yeong-yi though.
Yeong-yi and Geu-rae are so cute in their own awkward way omg.
Tough love is such a weird thing. I see it in how Manager Oh treats Geu-rae and sometimes Dong Shik, and while I generally do not at all agree with yelling and hollering as an effective managerial style, I get that it's more common in certain environments. And I guess what makes it work is that underneath all that bug-eyed yelling, with Manager Oh his subordinates can feel that he does care for them and he looks out for them. I'm glad Dong Shik is there to balance out the rough edges of Manager Oh.
Geu-rae and his mom are really cute too. When he was like, "Mom, you don't know how to make a tie, do you?" that scene was sweet and funny at the same time.

Date: 2014-10-27 08:25 pm (UTC)yep, exactly.
And I agree with everything you said. I was so glad when Geu-rae confronted him about his sexual harassing the female employee, in front of everyone else no less (although gross at people just laughing it off, wtf).
