B2ST Hopes for Things to Work Out Well for MBLAQ

B2ST expressed thanks to MBLAQ, which debuted in the same year as B2ST.

Groups B2ST and MBLAQ debuted one day apart in 2009. Being called rival groups in the beginning of their debuts, they appeared on various programs together, building friendship.

Five years have passed since their debut - and now, news has broken out on MBLAQ’s Lee Joon and Cheon Dung possibly leaving the group.

In a recent interview, B2ST showed a careful reaction when MBLAQ was brought up.

When commented, “You must’ve been shocked by MBLAQ’s news since you debuted together,” B2ST said, “We were shocked. We were very shocked but it’s not something we can argue is right or wrong…”

When the reporter commented, “You seem very careful to discuss the matter,” B2ST responded, “It’s because we feel bad. It could be a sensitive topic and since we’re close, we’re more careful about it. We’re thankful for MBLAQ. MBLAQ came out as a rival group since the beginning of our debut and since then we helped each other out a lot.”

B2ST added, “As a group that debuted in the same year, we’re regretful and hope that things will work out well for them.”

Meanwhile, B2ST returned with the 7th mini album Time.

B2ST said, “It’s been about 3~4 years since we released two albums in the same year. We felt apologetic towards the fans too. We prepared the album with the tracks befitting autumn so please listen to them and show your love.”

B2ST released the 7th mini album as well as the title song 12:30 on October 20. 12:30 is a song written by the producing team ‘Good Life’ and describes the state of a couple that broke up as the clock needles pointing at opposite directions. It topped various music charts as soon as it was released.


B2ST Members Talk About Preparing 7th Mini Album ‘Time’

B2ST’s new album has been gaining success both on and off line.

As soon as B2ST’s 7th special mini album Time was released on October 20, the new title song 12:30 topped online music site sites as well as album charts, proving B2ST’s popularity.

After winning 11 trophies with Good Luck in June, B2ST made a surprise comeback in celebration of its 5th anniversary, gathering enthusiastic response from the fans. It has been numerous years since B2ST released two albums in one year.

In a recent interview, B2ST introduced the album saying, “It’s been 3~4 years since we released two albums in one year. We felt sorry to the fans until now. We’re happy to be able to release an album in celebration of our 5th anniversary. We prepared an album with tracks that suit autumn so please listen and enjoy them.”

Son Dong Woon said, “Yo Seop hyung said during concert that we’ll be releasing an album in the fall. All six of us have been thinking that we should return soon this time since we’ve been taking long gap periods in between albums and when Yo Seop hyung made the promise, the company and the members started working hard despite our busy schedules. I’m happy that we were able to keep the promise.”

During B2ST’s last solo concert, Yang Yo Seop surprised everyone by announcing that they will release an album in the fall.

Yong Jun Hyung, who was in charge of producing the album, said, “I was working on the songs while promoting Good Luck. I have to prepare in advance in order for the members and the company to have more time to prepare and be more prudent. After Seop made the announcement during concert, I shared the songs I’ve written with the members, discussing which direction we should take. We all decided that it’s not a bad idea to loosen up a bit and we completed the song called 12:30.”

Yang Yo Seop said, “This album could have started due to my loose-lips. I feel more attached to the album since we all worked together in the midst of busy schedules in order to keep the promise that was made during concert. We only thought of the fans as we made it. It’s the album that we made for 5th anniversary in order to keep the promise.”

He added, “We only released three albums for three years before we promoted Good Luck. We felt sorry to the fans and also felt impatient ourselves as well. We talked about how we want to release three to four albums in a year like we did when we debuted and started discussing that idea in detail as we promoted Good Luck. It reflected all of our desires. It’s good thing we were able to keep the promise. Thanks to that, I became a cool guy, instead of a loose-lipped guy. If we failed to keep the promise, I would’ve been considered a frothy, loose-lipped person,” and laughed.

Jang Hyun Seung expressed his hopes saying, “I hope that this can be a good gift for the fans. There is nothing we want to gain from this album. We would just like to have good time through this album and wrap up 2014 nicely.”

The way they handled it, considering they were asked about it and didn't bring it up, was done with respect and acknowledgment of it not being their place to mention anything other than well wishes. If someone doesn't have tact, it's the journalist.

It makes me....not happy, but pleased to see groups who don't necessarily HAVE to hustle more albums per year anymore, think like this. It means they're paying attention to the talent pool. Even in Western pop, artists tend to coast on their name and think they can't be touched until someone else comes along to keep them on their toes.

lololl i can totally see the company being afraid to lose face. they're about to release a japanese track (mini?) around this time, which was probably planned much earlier, must be a pain to juggle. then again, good luck received quite good feedback, so must be nice to ride the wave.
