YG Entertainment just announced that 2NE1‘s charismatic leader, CL, will be making her solo American debut next spring!

Earlier this morning, Manager Scooter Braun tweeted “ready? :)” towards CL, to which she gave no explicit answer, but simply retweeted his query. Fans have viewed it as if he had asked a rhetorical question and CL had confirmed her agreement with a retweet.

CL’s solo activities will be managed by Scooter Braun who managed the likes of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Carly Rae Jepsen. With his name recognition and experience in the industry, fans are anticipating a powerful debut by CL next spring and have been sending her well wishes.

Recently, YG has opened up about the advantages of CL’s debut. Pictures from a photo shoot featuring CL and
American singer, Rita Ora, were released last week as well indicating the close ties that CL already has with the American entertainment industry.

Lol that's reading too much, they already know what they're doing and agreed before hand. That's some teasing for fans before a proper promotion, lol.

Breaking America is near impossible. You need to shed your Korean image first of all. To get press you need to be dating high fliers and doing ridiculous things. Alot of stuff Koreans wouldn't approve of. Not to mention you need to be touring for years to get anywhere. Noone hits it big overnight. There is no melon in the US. But if CL wants to try then all the luck to her but that puts an end to any Korean career for a while.

I can't wait to hear and see what her stuff for the American market will be like. I'm all here for it, you know just for that whole CL going to America experience kind of thing, even if it's going to be terrible.

It'll also be interesting to see if they have a long-term career planned for her or if it's just gonna be a short stint with one single or one half-assed album. And I hope she'll be happy with it no matter if she flops or not. It'll probably be a great experience for her as an artist/performer, much better than sitting on the side lines because YG won't/can't give her any work in Korea...

Honestly speaking though, I'm really curious as to how Scooter will help her 'hit it big'. I kind of feel like they might have had a better chance as a girl group (even if everyone argues the rest of the girls were dead weights etc.). I feel like at least the asian pop girls image might have been an easier way to break into the market than going down the hip hop rapper route, which seems a billion times harder :\

Just as long as she's not Iggy 2.0, they should really avoid doing hip hop music. Girl can hardly rap in her own language how do they expect her to rap in another? Also the hip hop gimmick in Korea is not going to stand a chance here. She'll end up being the laughing stock. They'll probably have her collab with Ariana or some shit to gain some publicity.

I'm all for an increase asians in the western music scene. I'd be fine if CL goes a pop route but if she's going to come with a hiphop/rap focus, she's going to get steamrolled.

Western rap/hiphop scene puts a lot of focus on street cred and hustlin your way to the top. Both Nicki and Iggy hustled and now capitalize on that by talking about their struggle in their music. It's why Drake gets a lot of flack for claiming that he started from the bottom, nah bitch, you were on degrassi since you were a preteen. CL doesn't even have a leg to stand on.
