Gong Ok Jin was one of Korea′s most legendary traditional dancers, laying down the foundation for folk dance soloists. Ever since her debut in 2NE1, Minzy has been connected often as Gong Ok Jin′s granddaughter.
In the midst of all of this, it was revealed that Minzy′s older sister, Gong Min Young is also a singer. Gong Min Young is a hidden singer that′s not very well known in the Korean music scene. She is not involved in K-pop, but instead displaying her skills through CCM (Christian Contemporary Music).
Gong Min Young′s first official album Rebirth is different from the standard CCM concept. Gong Min Young (aka Sister Gong) personally wrote and produced most of the songs on the album, being acknowledged for her songwriting skills. She also used different genres of music, such as EDM, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, creating new sounds that weren′t normally heard in CCM.
Gong Min Young′s album will be released on October 24.
