ugh god i am terrified of this episode. the previews made it look almost as bad as the episode where they talked about homosexuality which i couldn't bring myself to watch based on the comments ppl left on it... so much homophobia... *sighs*
i'll come back later and decide if i want to watch this or not....
i watch this with my mom every week and earlier today she was like "oh! we didn't watch our show today!!" and i was like "it's not ready yet! we'll watch it tomorrow." lol so thanks for your weekly work, op, from both my mom and i. ^.^
Awww, that is so sweet to say! ♥ I almost changed it yesterday, but I missed Gong Yoo after 2 minutes so I changed it back. It's lovely knowing there are other Gong Yoo fans floating around and appreciating him.
I was worried when I saw the preview but I loved this episode. More than half the guys were supportive of working mothers and willing to be stay at home dads. And bless Tyler😃
That was the only good part of the episode. I guess in a glass half full type of way we can at least be happy that they are open to a father being the main caregiver, but then that means they still think childcare should be the "burden" of 1 individual.
Tyler slays tbh. All of his contributions in this ep were great. I love that he through in the research on the well-being of children of same-sex couples. (Of course, there is a portion of the G11 who are too clouded by homophobia to see the implications from that research).
I was side-eyeing some of their opinions on whether or not they should be in the room during childbirth. It seems so self-centred to want to be outside the room (excluding cases where the mother doesn't want you in the room) because you don't want to see your wife in pain or because you feel helpless.
I was preparing myself for the inevitable sexist remarks, but it wasn't as bad as I expected (still had many eye roll moments tho). Bless Tyler for pointing out the blatant sexism in only making women choose between children and a career. And I can't remember exactly where but when one person argued against him it seemed like Tyler was getting pretty annoyed lol.
In the earlier episodes I could tolerate Enes but now he just annoys the ever living piss out of me.
Lol, he was definitely annoyed. He had to bring up gender equality a few times before they really discussed it (for like 2 seconds), and even then no one was really getting it.
I though Enes might have some BRAND NEW INFO to share as the only dad, but of course he's sipping them patriarchal teas.
YAS @ Tyler. Also slay-a-bit to the guest for not only being a working mom, but also talking her Korean husband and in-laws into shared parenting.
I love how they totally avoid the implications of being a stay-at-home dad while bitching about a working mom. I'm actually surprised that other than Tyler, no one was really bring up equal parenting. What do they mean by "there are things only mothers can do"? Once the milk stops flowing it's all the same from a babies point of view.
Yeah, I thought it was really curious that when it was brought up that if JiYoon was a man they wouldn't be having this conversation that nothing else was really said about that and they moved on to the child needing the mother. *rolls eyes*
whaaaa such a good episode. The guest was a great representative. I actually go on a lot of mommy blogs and even in America working moms and stay at home moms will fiercely debate over child care, so obviously this episode was going to be interesting. As a pretty liberal young adult it was definitely great to see Tyler bring up great points, he never lets me down.
However lets remember that in some areas Enes is really popular, so while his opinions may grate on a lot of people here, there are still millions of people out there who share his views. Allowing them a place in a discussion is beneficial for all of us because it let's us see why people who share different opinions believe in the things they do. I think it's important to have a character on the show who represents a conservative side because there are people out there like that who still should have a voice in these discussions.

I love having a female guest by the way, I wish this show brought in more women because as we can see their perspective can be really refreshing.
Agreed, even though I personally don't agree with a lot of the things Enes and Zhang Yuan say, their opinion deserves to be heard as much as the opposing one does.
Probably my favorite guest so far. She wasn't afraid to say her opinions and nicely rounded up what everyone was saying. An amazing representative for working moms! Plus it's just so nice to have a women talking. Honestly, for a good debate it's important to have men and women participate.
Tyler is really saving this show for me. I could still watch it without him, but it'd have to be less important issues and ones that don't talk about women at all lol.
Enes and Yuan for me are two that I can't care for and always get annoyed at... Enes more for his conservative and patriarchal ways and Yuan more for his like... intense nationalism? patriotism? ethnocentrism? idk how to put it :P Especially towards Takuya. They do make it funny though and call him out so it makes me feel better. It is good to have these people though. You definitely need both sides in a debate.
Normally I think Zhang Yuan is funny but I got kinda annoyed when he followed up Takuya's story about writing a letter to his mom with his own story about moving to college... and got more screentime and reaction shots. Like that's the editing as much as anything (and maybe they didn't want to end the show on such a sad note), but c'mon, those two situations are not remotely comparable.
I really liked Park Jiyoon and the fact that she wasn't afraid to talk about this issue. She's ver beautiful as well. I was not planning on watching that part of the episode but the comments here convinced me to watch anyway.
The comic heroes bit was really cute, they were excited like little kids.
King Tyler made some great comments but was unfortunately ignored a lot.
Zhang Yuan is such a qt omg, I used to really dislike him but he seems so sweet. When he talked about his mother I teared up. And the reading! Lol @ Julian/Robin though. Such bros. And Takuya playing the prince, how appropriate.
Enes and his ridiculous ungrounded opinions can leave.
All in all a great episode, thanks for posting OP!
After watching the episode, I really enjoyed the opening. (LOL @ Zhang Yuan and his baby super heroes and Tyler pulling out "child abuse". That had me rolling for ages) I LOVED Park JiYoon as a representative and she provided a great balance to the testosterone at the table.
Enes' opinion wasn't as strong as I expected which was nice but still...ew. I rolled my eyes at him saying he couldn't stay in the delivery room with his wife. HELLO. You're the one who thinks it's unmanly for a guy to hold his wife's bag for 5 minutes and YOU can't stay in the delivery room? Give me a break.
I was surprised at how open minded Zhang came across in this episode as I feared he would be completely in the corner of Enes. Maybe it's just me but he seems to be softening around the edges? (He was hilarious in the story...) I was surprised at Julian a few times over his passion for the wife staying at home. I know that has a lot to do with his own mother, but I was surprised at the passion. (I thought he came across worse than Zhang actually...)
Of course, Tyler the voice of reason with facts to support them.
