Actress Han Ji Min has accepted the offer to act alongside Hyun Bin in the upcoming drama, “Hyde, Jekyll, I.”

Following reports of the actress considering the role, news confirming her casting were released on October 17. She will be acting the female lead role, and this will mark her return to the small screen after a three-year break, her last drama being the popular “Rooftop Prince” in 2012.

Planned to be 20 episodes, “Hyde, Jekyll, I” is a romantic comedy that depicts the love triangle between a man with two contrasting personalities (Hyun Bin) and his lover (Han Ji Min). Hyun Bin will portray both the cold and harsh Jekyll and the sweet gentleman Hyde.

“Hyde, Jekyll, I” will mark the stars’ reunion after co-starring in the historical film, “The Fatal Encounter,” that premiered earlier this year.

The drama is expected to premiere in January on SBS.

I like Ji Min too, she's cute and acts well if given meaningful roles. I used to be all over Hyun Bin, but now I'm kind of meh with these characters he has been choosing.

Yep. And he has maintaining that "I'm so hot" smirky expression even in movies like Late Autumn.

I guess they got on well, so good for them.

I know she's not seen as bad, but would people here (who've seen her act) consider her talented or merely passable as an actress?

Was "The Fatal Encounter" the movie that was hyped to the high heavens but then underwhelmed?

She's good enough, but she lacks impact. I don't know if it is the quiet tone she uses while speaking and even while screaming she seems so ... inoffensive, like an angry puppy (I don't know how to explain it better in english). Also, being shallow here, I wish she could get hid of those bangs, 'cause, much like Hwang Jung Eun, she looks immature for her roles with it.

I dont think she lacks impact since her previous projects are impressive esp in portraying strong female leads. Female leads always being given the secondary characters in Kdramas (more like accessories for male lead) but Han Jimin always accept roles that take her own destiny.

I followed her for years and the fact that always chose characters that admirable make her as one of my fave female k-actresses (along with Moon Chae Won). Her ability to play sweet, nice yet strong and determined characters are one of her biggest assets. She always the one who assist her male lead co-stars' characters rather than be the weakness for them to protect or etc. I love her so much in Yi San. She was impressive in playing the king's wife despite her sad ending in the drama. :(

Like I said, she everything you said and more, I totally agree, but, like you also said, she kind of plays the same character and, to me she will always look like the cute puppy when angry. It was like this since Capital Scandal to Padam Padam. Don't get me wrong, I like her a lot too, it's just my impression of her. XD

This is a criticism one can level at too many Korean actresses tbh. There's not enough (popular ones anyway) who have gravitas that rivals/equals their male counterparts (although I have issues with what's considered "charisma" on the K-acting scene for both genders).

If you don't mind my asking, what in your opinion is her best role?

Not really a criticism, just a way to see how she's, sometimes, typecast as the sweet/strong heroine, which she does really well, because of, maybe, the general feel about her? Song Hye Kyo sometimes give me the same feels. I could say, for a contrast, that some actresses that have a strong impact, imo, would be Bae Jong Ok, Kim Hyun Joo, Kim Hee Ae, Moon Chae Won (in a few roles) or the incredibly young actress Kim Yoo Jung (that girl has presence since she was a toddler). The best role of HJM, for me, is Capital Scandal, only because I have a huge soft spot for that drama and for her witty and strong minded character.

I agree on Moon Chae-won; however, she's the only youngish actress that comes to mind with that sort of charisma, so that's worrying and depressing for the Korean acting scene.

I can't remember seeing Bae Jong-ok and Kim Hyun-joo in anything, but I'll look out for projects with them in the future. I might beg to differ with you a little on Kim Yoo-jung; while I find her a very competent young actress, she's never struck me as particularly charismatic or nuanced in her handling of character...she's very likable and charming, though, and thoroughly believable in dramatic/sad scenes.

I need to see Elegant Lies, since that features a host of established and promising talent: Kim Hee-ae, Kim Yoo-jung, Go Ah-sung, and Kim Hyang-gi. I heard KYJ's character is a departure from her usual nice girl roles, so I want to see if she successfully stretches herself there.

I agree about MCW, she's one of my favorite actresses and I get enchanted by every role she takes even if the drama sucks, haha. Ohhhh, I still haven't seem this movie of KYJ. Adding it to my must watch list. The first role I saw KYJ in was in Flames of Desire and I was slayed by her portrait of a rebel, yet smart kid, who only gets screwed by life. This drama is a heavy makjang and she, Shin Eun-Kyung and Seo Woo (I love her psycho eyes, haha) were fantastic in their roles.

I dont think people in Omona is capable of evaluating her skills as an actress since they havent watch enough of her projects to make any valid comments of it. They might only watch Rooftop Prince but its hard to make evaluation on that since its romcom.

She's good and not merely passable as an actress. Have you watch any of her dramas before? I want to see her act in sageuk dramas again so hopefully she will pick up something like that in the near future. :))

I dont understand why do you assume that people on omona don't know about her and her projects o.o I've been watching her way before I knew wth was kpop.

When I mean ppl, it is more than 10/20 people like the response we usually get to know how the community view her. But like you can see here, only a few know of her work outside 1/2 projects. Dont get me wrong. We usually get to see hundred of comments when it come to idol actors but the same cant be said for k-actor/actresses -- thus my comment.

Like if you ask this community about how they view Suzy as an actress, I'm sure you will get at least 10 responses -- that's what I mean.

love it~~~~ i know people have been giving him shit for picking roles like this, but he knows what he's doing and i'm not ashamed to say imma enjoy watching this especially when han ji min. he said he likes to choose projects that he wants to do and then pick projects he knows the public would like. so he did secret garden after come rain, come shine & late autumn and a few others. BAM cf money up the wazoo and he's still in the top 10 for cf ranking stars. bloop can't hate his business game.

He knows how to play the game. I'm not a fan but he has the ability to pick roles that he wants and he use that opportunity to the fullest by picking up projects that he wants to do and picking up projects he know his fans/ public want to see. Probably he can take Sageuk as his new project after this.

Unlike actors like Wonbin and Jang Dong Gun, they might be the first in every PD/writers' list but their inactivities make it hard to evaluate their true potential as actors..
