Actress Han Ji Min has accepted the offer to act alongside Hyun Bin in the upcoming drama, “Hyde, Jekyll, I.”
Following reports of the actress considering the role, news confirming her casting were released on October 17. She will be acting the female lead role, and this will mark her return to the small screen after a three-year break, her last drama being the popular “Rooftop Prince” in 2012.
Planned to be 20 episodes, “Hyde, Jekyll, I” is a romantic comedy that depicts the love triangle between a man with two contrasting personalities (Hyun Bin) and his lover (Han Ji Min). Hyun Bin will portray both the cold and harsh Jekyll and the sweet gentleman Hyde.
“Hyde, Jekyll, I” will mark the stars’ reunion after co-starring in the historical film, “The Fatal Encounter,” that premiered earlier this year.
The drama is expected to premiere in January on SBS.

Date: 2014-10-18 01:38 pm (UTC)I know she's not seen as bad, but would people here (who've seen her act) consider her talented or merely passable as an actress?
Was "The Fatal Encounter" the movie that was hyped to the high heavens but then underwhelmed?

Date: 2014-10-19 10:52 am (UTC)I followed her for years and the fact that always chose characters that admirable make her as one of my fave female k-actresses (along with Moon Chae Won). Her ability to play sweet, nice yet strong and determined characters are one of her biggest assets. She always the one who assist her male lead co-stars' characters rather than be the weakness for them to protect or etc. I love her so much in Yi San. She was impressive in playing the king's wife despite her sad ending in the drama. :(

Date: 2014-10-20 06:33 pm (UTC)This is a criticism one can level at too many Korean actresses tbh. There's not enough (popular ones anyway) who have gravitas that rivals/equals their male counterparts (although I have issues with what's considered "charisma" on the K-acting scene for both genders).
If you don't mind my asking, what in your opinion is her best role?

Date: 2014-10-22 07:07 pm (UTC)I can't remember seeing Bae Jong-ok and Kim Hyun-joo in anything, but I'll look out for projects with them in the future. I might beg to differ with you a little on Kim Yoo-jung; while I find her a very competent young actress, she's never struck me as particularly charismatic or nuanced in her handling of character...she's very likable and charming, though, and thoroughly believable in dramatic/sad scenes.
I need to see Elegant Lies, since that features a host of established and promising talent: Kim Hee-ae, Kim Yoo-jung, Go Ah-sung, and Kim Hyang-gi. I heard KYJ's character is a departure from her usual nice girl roles, so I want to see if she successfully stretches herself there.
