"My Secret Hotel" EP 7-16 DISCUSSION POST

plot:
A divorced couple meet again as the manager of a wedding department of a hotel and as a groom. A murder case takes place.
Sang-Hyo (Yoo In-Na) is the manager for the wedding department of a hotel. She is a perfectionist with a bright personality. once She divorced 7 years ago.
She meets her ex-husband Hae-Young (Jin Lee-Han) as a client at the hotel. Sang-Hyo and Hae-Young were in love and married, but they divorced less than 100 days later. Hae-Young is a famous architect.
Sung-Gyeom (Namgung Min) is the management director of the hotel and Sang-Hyo’s boss. The murder case that brings about a crisis at the hotel is related with his personal history. He is in a love triangle with Sang-Hyo and Eun-Joo (Lee Young-Eun). Eun-Joo works as public relations manager for the hotel. She is ambitious with her work career.

Episodes 1-4 were soooooo goooood!

Episodes 5-6 were okay

Episodes 7-14 were meandering and meaningless. Absolutely nothing happened except me becoming increasingly annoyed by these characters and the story that goes nowhere.

Episode 15 just made me angry. Why is the writer trying to cram the entire story line in now? Why is this stalker chick still here? Why is nobody saying anything of substance? I don't even care who killed who anymore.

Episodoe 16, I can't even bring myself to watch it.

Ngl, thank god it's over. With that new writer, the plot and characters took a sharp turn off the narrative cliff of no return. The only reason I kept watching was because Jin Yi Han was having so much fun in his role. I love him, this tv show was such a waste of his talent. He and YIN deserved better, although her character made me want to toss my laptop out a window.

And such a flawless soundtrack. ugh.

YES to everything that you said!!!! the only reason I stuck to this bad drama all the way to the end was cause JYH & YIN have such energy and they really made the most of the crappy material that they had to work (although i agree YIN's character got increasingly frustrating towards the end ugh) everything else abt the show was bad - poor script poor character development poor plot development poor poor poor sigh they really wasted the talents that they had ):

I got hooked after ep. 6. Too bad it started going downhill halfway into the series. I skimmed the last few weeks.

This was the tvn show that needed to be cut 4 episodes, if not more. But a cut probably couldn't have saved the mystery storyline. The love triangle went nowhere and was annoying, important plot points were neglected, and JYH kept crying in the show.

The best thing in the latter half was the ending. The writer recognized what was the flaw in the relationship and finally gave us a couple who could trust each other.

Ugh I hate this drama so much and it's because I absolutely loathe the Goo Hae Young character. Dude is serving some Kim Tan realness tbh and it's just not cute. He's a gross possessive stalkerish emotionally manipulative controlling bully who has no respect for anyone and any boundaries they to set up. He spent half the show yelling at Sang Hyo telling her what to do and kept butting into her life and interfering when she told him multiple times to GTFO.

I was so disgusted when he overstayed his welcome in Sang Hyo's apartment they day after he stopped by there drunk and totally acted like he owned the place and then even more when he climbed into bed with her, took her phone and sent a rudeass message to her current boyfriend, and then took pics of them together while she was sleeping. EW. And the scene in the hospital when Sung Gyum was injured omg was his behavior downright appalling. The guy just saved the woman you're in love with and you can't show any damn gratitude and consideration and instead yell at her ordering her around and disturbing everyone in the hospital along with it... Just ugh. I can't believe they try to sell this behavior as romantic but it's totally gross. Also emotionally blackmailing Sang Hyo to get her to live with him by telling her his dad was going to die thus making her feel guilty? Classy. How does anyone still support him or his actions.

I actually LOVE Jin Yi Han (I tried to watch a 120 ep daily drama for him!) but I absolutely hated his character in this. I watched this drama for him but pretty much hated every second of it. :( Even the beginning was too boring and slow paced for me.

Jin Yi Han really is great and I think his acting in Secret Hotel is still very good (actually most of the acting is top notch, the writing on the other hand...) But Goo Hae Young is a petulant child and would make a terrible husband for anyone. His actions are not romantic, they are disrespectful and anyone with sense would have taken out a restraining order on him.
