On October 15, ZE:A's Lee Hoo, formerly known by his stage name Junyoung, broke his silence on Twitter and posted, “D-7 10/21 After 9/21.. “

Lee Hoo seemed to be counting down to an event, with 7 days remaining on the counter.

A few minutes later, he posted once again with the text, “Just as it’s shown. Don’t believe it. [Don’t believe everything you see] #zea #moonjunyoung #leehoo #October 21 #it’s October let’s talk honestly,” along with a photo of a receipt and proof of of income document, a cigarette graphic hiding other personal information.

The document reads a 33,200,000 won ($31,188~ USD) yearly income for Moon Junyoung for the year 2013. The average income in South Korea is $31,051 USD per year [1].

akp (I know...) Soompi posted a translation of a fan tweet he rt then deleted which divided that amount between 9 members so I'm not sure if this statement is what he earned or what the group made as a whole (or something SE fabricated???) :\

thats crazy if that is all he makes. for all the hard work an idol group does and all the hours they put in, it is ridiculous! i think i might make more than that, before taxes get taken out.

i mean... has junyoung done anything this year though?
but it IS still shady, since according to him he had to pay his own medical expenses.

i'm just upset for him because he's obviously very inexperienced and i think he fired the shots too quickly and too unprepared. the public lost interest or thinks he's just seeking for attention since the last attempt was smothered down pretty quickly. i really wish he would do this with the rest of the members, he's coming off as frazzled and confused.

The other's are involved. Kwanghee addressed this on his instagram when everything kicked off. All nine went were apart of it and the meeting. Jounyoung is the leader so he's putting himself front and center.

see i understand he's the leader but i don't know if he's the best person to lead this, he doesn't seem to be very eloquent and half the fight here is to convince the public of the wrongs he and the members have received - and he was very unclear about it. a lot of people only got some clarity once kwanghee posted his instagram. either he needs to outline and know what he wants to say or let someone else take over.

Maybe we should just wait and see what they decide to do as a group before we judge who's best to handle whatever is that is going on.

i guess :/ i just hope they don't get hurt, seeing how shady the ceo is.

I think the guys have gone over their lifetime bullshit limit with SE, so I'm guessing they've got something good on him to negotiate with. I'm just hoping whatever Intel they have gives them some solid leverage over everyone that runs the place and makes them pay for all the shit they put them and 9Muses through.

smh at the netizen comments. Obviously there's something going on at SE that we don't know about that's holding him back from doing what he said he would do. I just hope that the members give him support this time

at this point i'm just like "shhhshshhh shhh" (slowly covers his mouth w/ my hands / takes away his twt) because i don't like seeing people be mean to him (and the group by extension) and i just want it to stop ;_;

ze:a was such a nonentity on everyone's radar before this (esp junyoung) and now ... not so much..

Isn't Junyoung his birth name and Hoo Lee the name he changed to when the arguments started up with SE?

From: [identity profile] obviousgirl.livejournal.com
I wonder if he'll change his name back once SE does right by them and gets their shit together as a whole?

I wish he didn't think of himself (or ZEA) as a failure. SE screwed both them and 9Muses over with shitty debut songs and tried to throw all the blame on the leaders and the groups when its obvious that those in charge don't know what the actual fuck they are doing. :/

Why did he change his name? Is it bc of the meaning behind it?

I feel like this won't help his case? I don't think people will feel very sorry knowing he's making what the average person does.

unless this doesn't exclude idol expenses or is the amount split between the group or something.

lol, when i saw that, my broke ass was like "$31,000??? that's alright....."

but really, did he even do anything money making in 2013 to warrant more money???

That's what I thought. Or is that money split between all the members?

I don't follow ZE:A so idk how many activities they have in one year.

I feel bad that my poor ass thinks that's not so bad (if not divided among themselves) like idk, ZE:A isn't that popular and I can't recall more than 2 members making a name for themselves out of those group (and he's not one of them)... There is no doubt it should be more if they were doing fanmeets and concerts/show appearances year-round though.

I can't read Korean so I'm not sure if this is after deducting trainee costs, outfits, styling, and housing. Since I believe groups from smaller companies must pay for those things monthly.

the only members i can recall being popular outside the group are siwan, kanghwee and dongjun

there people were already cursed from being in star empire anyway.

I think he's starting his first acting role soon or he could be filming it now.

Yes, he does a lot of "small roles" (aka scene steal-ers/younger version of male leads). He's getting his big break in a weekend drama right now.

yes he does! tv, film and musicals. he was also in Real Men and the audience LOVED him. he's probably the general public's favourite and most well-known member of ze:a.

i mean, saying that, they probably don't actually know he's in ze:a.

Considering ZE:A is a nugu group I wouldn't be surprised if that's what really remains after the costs have been taken away.

From: [identity profile] dokyungsoo.livejournal.com
if that amount is split between the members, i've no words

if he's earning all of that on his own, he should be paid more considering the toil of his job on his mind and body

idk if this will mean anything but both hyungsik and minwoo retweeted the d-7 tweet ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what's the market pay for korea?
bc in north america isn't this standard annual compensation? esp for entry level permanent positions?

Date: 2014-10-15 05:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lilybeth84.livejournal.com
I have no judgement on whether the payment is unfair in terms of what others make, or hours put in, etc, because I don't know the standard rules and wages for contracts in Korea, but I think those hailing from the US, where we are used to seeing celebrities paid really (ridiculously) high amounts, it may be unrealistic to expect a lot more.

If this is his standard wage that he makes by himself, yeah, I would say its pretty standard for the average worker (this doesn't mean he shouldn't be paid more), but if he is splitting it between the rest of the group, that's pretty crappy... and I would cry foul.

I mean, look at the way the U.S pays teachers and then complains when their children's education is shite....if you don't want your workers to revolt, pay them a fair wage.
