FT Island’s Lee Hong Gi brought up about using ExSo as the group’s name in the drama.
During press conference for SBS’s new drama Modern Farmer, Lee Hong Gi apologized about the fake group name used in the drama.
Lee Hong Gi will be acting as a member of the fake band called ‘Excellent Souls’ along with Lee Si Eon, Park Min Woo and Gwak Dong Yeon. As ‘Excellent Souls’ is being called ‘ExSo’ in short, Lee Hong Gi apologized to the EXO fans.
Lee Hong Gi said, “When we first heard our team name of ‘ExSo,’ we thought, ‘We’re in trouble. We might not even be able to broadcast.’ Our bulletin board was terrorized. There were all kinds of curses on our articles. Si Eon hyung told me he has never experienced anything like this. Si Eon hyung is quite upset,” causing a round of laughter.
He explained, “As an idol, I would feel happy if someone called themself FT Island on broadcast. I guess this is because it’s been a while since we debuted but I think their fans were more sensitive. I apologize. The names hold different meanings so I hope that you won’t misunderstand.”
Lee Hong Gi then revealed, “Even in the drama, I get slapped on the face and get knee-kicked by a high school girl because of the name ‘ExSo.’”
Meanwhile, Modern Farmer is a human comedy drama about four rock band members who become farmers. It is set to air on October 18.
