The song is GREAT but the lyrics (1thek has the subbed version) are pretty vague and it was a stretch to say it had to do with homosexual love/interracial relationships etc.
Also, I'm about to burn down the dispatch building for putting up that article about yongguk featuring.
The song is good JIEUN LOOKS FUCKING AMAZING THE MV IF ITS STILL ABOUT LGBTQ AND INTERRACIAL COUPKES IS HAUNTING AS FUCK I LOVE IT,!!! I just hope the lyrics are good cause that would make all of this null and void
Found the subbed mv GOD IS GOOD. It's not direct,y about either but I would expect that in Kpop but ;0; Jieun destroys my heart again
I really like the way she sang this. Sometimes her voice sounds......squeaky? (I think the pitch/tone gets...nasally? IDK how to describe it) But here she sounds really gorgeous and I like how subdued it was too - I kept waiting for a big, long note but one never came and I as still very pleased.
But I was expecting a depiction of the relationships it mentioned, actually it feels weird that she's always kind of depicted alone in it when she's talking about relationships...
I don't wanna be like, 'where BYG?' but like.... where was he?
Anyway -- I love this, but I'm a fan of Jieun and her voice so, it was basically a given. The song was real good, but I felt like I was missing the build up. Either a rap or big crescendo -- something like that. I'll have to check out the lyrics (maybe that where BYG participated?) to see what's actually going on, but from the MV I cna't really see how it's about same sex/interracial love.
Sidenote: how well are her solo singles received? I know Korea goes nuts over ballads, but maybe the fact that she's an idol hinders that? idk
I don't have to lie, I only watched for Bang and didn't get no Bang. Lol whatever, no shame. In any case it was a nice, chill song. It felt powerful in some kind of pop rock/Tatu way, to me. Also, she wore some killer dresses and looked fabulous in them.
Okay I don't understand the Mv but THE SONG IS SO GOOD OMG Edit: wasn't it supposed to feature BYG? lol. I half expected him to be under the cat mask but he never appeared not even said anything?
it's great and she looks amazing, but i cannot at ts media playing about the lyrics when they are so vague. there's literally no indication that they're about homosexual/interracial love.
I guess I'm honestly not that surprised that Yongguk wasn't in the song. I mean, he is hella busy with all the Japanese promotions that they're doing, so I guess I was just hoping for that slim chance that he would be part of it. I wasn't too disappointed since I figure that logically it didn't make sense to begin with.
What I AM disappointed with is the fact that this was suppose to allude to interracial/homosexual relationships? I mean, if you didn't know that beforehand and just looked at the lyrics, just sounds like a forbidden love(Romeo and Juliet type of thing.)
the MV was beautiful and TS blows me away with that as they always do, and the song great otherwise.
The MV was great and I liked the song well enough but I didn't pick up on any forbidden love themes. Hell, it seemed more like an Eyes Wide Shut/Bad Romance influence with her being auctioned to the rich people (industry) and the faceless figures touching her. Even the burning and her going from all black/white outfits to the red at the end and burning everyone was giving me bad romance vibes
I really really like it! I for one am actually glad Yongguk's not in it - I love the boy, but look, Jieun doesn't need a sidepiece all the time. And I'm glad the lyrics turned out to be broad and general - being specific about the possible readings of the lyrics through a queer love or interracial love lens would've felt, I think, forced and disingenuous.
Jieun looks stunningly haunting and I love the Carrie-esque ending. And that smiley mask is really creepy. Also, Jieun's voice really matched this song well!
I love this song so much! The lyrics are pretty general, so I feel like it could fit lots of couples that are looked at badly in society. I guess that's a good thing, although they shouldn't have advertised the song the way they did. Either way it's great!
the mv has nothing to do with the lyrics imo...idek what i was watching. but she looks great.
The song actually sounds great, and I'm so happy her voice doesn't sound as whiny as it does in her other vocal endeavours. The composition is kind of dull but I think it works for her voice. I'm glad BYG isn't in this lol, idk how it would've fit the song.
Idk if I can get past the lyrical disappointment and the unnecessary solo shots that detract from the story though.
My intial reaction was disappointment when I watched the m because there was no featuring of the different couple's mentioned. Plus the lyrics are pretty vague. Then when I watched it again my opinion changed.. Mainly because while being abstract and symbolic it captured the feelings pretty well of being othered based on something like your sexual orientation. How you can become this ~thing for others amusement and be put on display. Plus I rather have something like this then them handling the issue wrong
I actually really enjoyed the song and the MV, but I feel like they would have been better separately. I can definitely see how the lyrics can be applied to same-sex/interracial love, and the MV definitely says something about society as well... it's just that the two messages don't match up. Otherwise, it's a great song, and I love her voice.
Okay, I know I've already commented but upon rewatching the M/V I've had a thought that I just needed to get out.
So I have no idea if it was intentional or not, but the "Egyptian" masks that are among the many masks made me think about the whole idea of Victorian mummy unwrapping parties - parties where people basically made violating the ceremonial wrappings of corpses and stealing treasure and whatnot a fun pastime. It's an interesting potential reference - Jieun is being held captive and is basically being violated for fun as well in the M/V.
There's also the pretty strong reference to Carrie at the end, what with Jieun standing among the flames.
Anyway, the more I listen to the song and the more I watch the M/V, the more I am intrigued and the more I like it!
